I watched it knowing nothing about it other than the (deserved) praise Sydney Sweeney received for her performance. I thought it was absolutely gripping. It reminded me of Compliance (2012) in how frustrating the lead character's naivete is.
People criticizing it for not being 'cinematic' enough have a very limited idea of what cinema can be.
This is tense and provides food for thought, but I’m not sure if this was the best way of telling this story. Sticking very close to the real events gives it an authentic feel, however it’s not the most cinematic. Compared to a movie like The Insider, which admittedly feels like a more sensational and inauthentic whistleblower story, this is not as interesting to watch. The first thirty minutes are filled with a lot of moments of dead air, for example, and the cinematography is pretty dull and grey. The movie is mostly elevated by the acting and writing, but as an overall experience it’s on the forgettable side.
6/10
Actually a very good acting. It is a nice story about a national security agency and a leaked document. Worth watching.
Fascinating insight into the alleged rigged election of the most corrupt ‘democratic’ leader in modern history.
i watch this movie without no information. the first 20 minutes are very long.
I prefer a documentary.
Reality takes you inside the true story of Reality Winner, a young woman who leaked classified information from the NSA, the US government's National Security Agency, the same place where Edward Snowden worked. :flag_us:
I really liked the mix of documentary drama, it gave the film a really good taste, especially when images and speeches from the real testimony are inserted. I love movies based on facts. They touch me much more.
The film is slow and full of dialogues that make you think about what happened there. So, if this is not your style of film, better skip it.
But Sydney Sweeney's performance will make you want to watch, she is impeccable in the lead role, capturing the strength and fragility of Reality, a woman who fought for the truth, even if it meant sacrificing her freedom.
P.S.: I don't have a background in cinema, my opinion is moved by affection
[Filmin] A spy film that takes place between four walls and with three main characters, through a tense interrogation that reflects the perversity of the regulations. Possibly it works better in its play format, because Fox News' inclusions around the story serve the function of making too obvious what is already clear in the verbatim transcript of the interrogation. There is a certain obsession with constantly highlighting that it's a literal transcription, which sometimes harms the ability of the development of the interrogation to make the viewer feel the tension of the interrogated person.
Worth watching, and quite incredible. Everything, from the questioning to the body language is amazing. Sydney is really at her peak, and I hoper she goes further. A great (short) movie.
Would give it a 7, but since there is an army behind T, I give this wonderful psychological movie an 8.
It is the dramatization of the verbatim minutes from the Federal US police. More an acted documentary aimed at the TV than a theatrical movie. It makes the audience reflect however about the brutality of US judiciary.
I expected most of this movie. Mostly, I expected not to feel so much cringe. I understand that these were verbatim the dialogues that took place, but it sounds like these FBI agents are retarded, or that they are currently having an aneurysm, that explains how awkward they sound. It's ok, it's not boring... but I just felt like slapping the silly out of them.
The format of the movie is so powerful.. makes you focus and hits the point again and again. And it’s a documented recording which makes it indisputable truth that requires your attention. Everyone should see this.
The part in the end when an official telling blatant lies to the press made me angry the most.
Good film, but I had to chuckle when she started whining about Fox News haha these people... even at the end they're saying she says "I hate America" etc... another moronic zogbot.
An untypical interrogative episode backed by a solid directorial debut by Tina Satter and a mesmeric performanace from Syndey.
My Rating : :star::star::star: ½ (72/100)
Reality is a compelling and captivating film covering an intense episode of interogation. An effective style of storytelling which blurs the line between a documentary and drama and sets itself apart from similar films of the genre. This is a true and unbiased piece of work which retells the initial questioning of Air Force veteran and a Yoga Instructor Reality Winner who was accused of leaking classified information in public domain. The dialogues of the film is redacted directly from the real recordings of the interogation and this makes it more engaging. The fact that you come know about the actual accusations late during the film even makes it more mysterious and intriguing. The film is carried by Syndey Sweeney who plays Reality. She expresses true dynamics of an insecure individual by riding through a series of emotions which is extremely compelling. She proves that she is much beyond just a pretty face and sex symbol. Josh Hamilton on the other hand gives a fantastic nuanced and controlled performance which sets the stage for a fantastic 3 person drama.
Overall, this is easily a well enacted and edited drama which retells the story exactly as it happened. Fantastic directorial debut by Tina Satter and remarkable acting by Sydney. The film is a slow burn and is thought provoking , leaving with you a question of what's right and whats wrong. Wished thry explored a bit more about Reality's mental state . May not be everyone's cup of tea. Watch it if you like convincing and engrossing dramas based on real events.

A psychological conversation-driven political piece. Sydney Sweeney has perfect control over what she wants the viewer to feel, I can litterally see her thinking about the answers she's giving the interrogators. The body language is golden, the tension keeps escalating and all it really is, is a game of who's going to break first between the two parties. Great interrogation material, I was feeling very stressed. I like that the dialogue that's given is a word for word of the real life recordings so it gives you the real story. We're given just enough information at the beginning to get attached to the mystery—it was a mystery for me sinse I went in blind, made the experience better I believe. Brilliant acting, claustrophobic in every way, perfect runtime length and sooo uncomfortable. The intention/message behind the movie is clear by the end but it still left me with a bunch to think about which is a big plus.
