Good movie, very fun, but it could have better CGI
always nice to see Reynolds and Jeff on the screen even if the movie ... well, its not so great ( or in this case just plain weird).
Note to my future self: don't watch this movie again. Please. No matter how much Netflix insists about it. Just don't. Yes, Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Mary Louise Parker. Still. Don't.
It's Men in Black, only dumber and not funny. So, like any of the MiB sequels, I guess.
Bad, so bad. Some of the CGI was okay, but the deados were too cartoony. I felt like this was some sort of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" with the mixed realistic and cartoony elements, not to mention the slapstick aspects. It just didn't jive as well as Roger Rabbit, and that has about 25 years on this movie.
The acting was hit and miss. Very inconsistent. I like all the main actors, but none of them were all that good. This makes me think the director messed this movie up. Too bad, too. I loved RED and was hoping for more of that awesomeness.
Overall, the plot wasn't too bad. I enjoyed that for the most part.
Felt like a poormans MIB. Nothing more.
(2.1/10) - This movie failed on pretty much every level; from depressingly predictable outcomes to complete lack of originality and plot.
Ryan Reynolds is a superb actor, who has featured in some of my absolute favourite movies such as ‘6 Underground’ and ‘Deadpool’, but this was a truly shocking action-“comedy.”
I don’t think I have ever watched a movie with so many repeated gags (if you can call them that) and just downright plain and ridiculous moments.
The primary antagonists were literally just fat monsters who basically ran around wreaking havoc and using crazily unreal sci-fi gadgets to provoke mayhem, which I believe I have seen so many times before!
And just when I thought the film couldn’t get any less watchable, there was a lousily lengthy action sequence in the city of Boston that left me feeling super underwhelmed.
Overall, I am very unimpressed with the lack of almost everything good about a Ryan Reynolds movie; it’s a Men In Black rip off that could’ve been made by children aged 4. Roy (Jeff Bridges) and Nick (Ryan Reynolds) have no chemistry whatsoever and most of the movie is just the two of them rambling on about pure nonsense.
Best Scene: The elevator sequence where Nick causes it to fly through the roof (6.9/10)
Extra Note: Don’t bother watching this appalling display of writing and CGI (it’s sooo low-budget and embarrassingly bad at times.)
Men in Black with dead people, except it's nowhere near as fun and forgettable.
Looks like a crazy rockstar version of 'Men in Black' :)
A little racey but original. Expect for the ending I enjoyed it.
My take? I’d say it did a decent job ripping off Men in Black. It didn’t take itself too seriously which is the only reason it got a rating as high as a passable “Good”. The Ryan Reynolds chemistry was decent, not phenomenal. There was some high octane action scenes that could’ve had more realistic CGI. But ultimately, the main characters were interesting enough to watch.
Pretty faithful interpretation of the original 2011 Dark Horse Comic series combined with several elements of the 2012 follow-up "R.I.P.D. - City of the Damned" as well.

Solid turns by both Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds as the titular cops, and in a trope reversal, Mary Louise Parker and their put upon boss with an apparent history with Roy. Marisa Miller and James Wong put a hilarious twist on the deep undercover meme, and the special effects, though not cutting edge, still hold up fairly well. No cats and dogs living together, nor any angry Mesopotamian Gods, but, still a fun and entertaining supernatural romp.
Very, very average movie that does not make any real sense.
this movie is quite bad.....
Jeff Bridges beats Reynolds in an acting. A light film about killing, or rather about its consequences. ;)
A formulaic, by the numbers buddy-cop film, R.I.P.D. covers familiar territory, but with a slight twist. The story follows a murdered cop who’s recruited into the Rest In Peace Department, which hunts down escaped and missing dead people who are hiding out in the world of the living. The cast is fairly solid and includes Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Mary-Louise Parker, and Kevin Bacon. However the CGI work is awful, and takes the audience completely out of the film. The writing is also particularly poor, relying heavily on clichés and stereotypes. There are some entertaining moments here and there, and Reynolds and Bridges have some comedic chemistry, but R.I.P.D. is a stale and predictable film that’s not very well made.
This movie doesn't make any sense. Ignoring the ridiculous romance, the whole concept just doesn't make sense. The dead stay behind because they want to stay on earth and keep living their lives and yet they want to destroy earth. And the dead stay and yet somehow have a physical body and can pretend to be alive. Their body shows no damage from their deaths and yet thai food turns them into monsters that are visible to humans. I mean how is it the dead are still visible and have perfectly normal bodies even though their bodies died? And the RIPD gave magical id's that somehow give them new bodies? The whole thing is just a mess.
Men in Black meets Indiana Jones meets Ghost
this film wasn't trying to be a Bergman or arty. It's just a laugh. anaothing pretentious. I enjoyed it and it killed a couple of hours. #ShiftvW8
A cop is shot dead by his partner, only to come back in the ‘Rest In Peace Department’, an afterlife police force operating in the real world.
This has a Men in Black vibe to it but it’s more Men in Cack because it’s almost unwatchable. It’s a turd cocktail of bad writing, third rate special effects and paint-by-numbers direction. Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges should really have known better. The studio should be offering refunds to everyone who went to see this at the cinema, it’s just so dull.
I cannot remember the last time I saw something that cost $130 million to make that was less entertaining. In fact, it’s probably the worst movie ever made with that kind of budget. Avoid at all costs.

I guess this is a "love it or hate it" kind of movie. I enjoyed it, it had a few good laughs.
Dont expect an intelligent movie. It's Men in Black meets Ghostbusters and then on steroids.
Probably the worst movie of Jeff Bridges though, his character was simply obnoxious.
Well, this was pretty bad. I thought that reviews were to harsh, but no. This was bad movie, don't even mention very very bad animations. Ugh
Wow, what a terrible movie. Yeah, you laugh here and there and i liked Ryan Reynolds. His very serious face expression made my laugh. But Jeff Char was just badly imitating himself from True Grit.
I read the comparison with MIB and MIB was way WAY better (and i gave all parts just 7/10).
The CGI Effects are ridiculous and in the end the movie never knows what it want to be: serious or funny. MIB made it - most of the time - much better.
my rating: 2/10 because of Reynolds. What a waste of time :/
It was ok.
Not that bad but not good.
Good movie ! If you don't like it you suck as a human !
I read people mentioning 'plot'... Come on. There's no plot. I just wish there were lower ratings.
ok, I also think it resembles MiB a bit .. just the general idea .. .the storyline wasn't that great. The filming was nice though .. only gave it a 7 because Ryan Reynolds is so good looking and Jeff Bridges still is a genious :D
Copie de Men in black, mais sans le talent de Will et Tommy
If you've seen Men in Black, you've seen this movie. The premise is a little different, but otherwise, it's the same film. It's worth your time but not much else. I mean, it's 90 minutes of juvenile fun.
Why is everyone talking about this being a cheap ripoff of MiB?!? For crying out loud...that was aliens guys...ALIENS. These guys are chasing dead people...and are dead themselfs. :)
Anyway...the movie is ok. Lot's of good special effects, and some very funny moments courtesy of Jeff Bridges. The story isn't half bad either :) Take it for what it is...a decent evenings entertainment.
I liked it but it's odd not seeing Ryan Reynolds in a none comedic role
Is you've watched and enjoyed all 3 Men in black movies, you may like it. Or it may piss you off because you've seen the story 3 times already.
Very bad, skip this one.
It's a silly plot. The CGI is terrible most of the scenes looked like a videogame.
Too bad that even the great Jeff Bridges couldn't turn this into something better. I wanted to watch this basicaly just because of him.
You can easily avoid this.
I didn't mind this. Thought it was better than MIB. Jeff Bridges was quiet funny.
Not bad if you go in with low expectations.. It's just missing something... Something another movie had that was just like this one. Oh I remember now!!! A MIB like sound track sang by Will Smith ;)

This is a crappy ripoff from MIB. Dont bother. Not funny, not original, not worth your time.
