If you loved the first movie, save your time and avoid this one.
I decided to comment since it seems as though all the comments are purely negative. I wasn't sure how well this movie would do without the support of powerhouse Ryan Reynolds, but I enjoyed it. I'm quite fascinated by the lore and would love to see more movies taking place in different time periods.
People are saying to avoid this movie, but I say watch it. It was fun and humorous and I think it deserves a watch.
I was something curious to know the story about Roy's origin but everything was so bad executed that feels like a movie that is trying to rip-off the RIPD rather than a movie which belongs to the same universe as the first one. Several things bothered me, the stupid way they did the exposition to explain RIPD and the villain's plans was one of them
but nothing was worse than the acting, which I'll kindly call amateurish, by the actress who played Roy in his human form and the director's decision to KEEP this horrendous performance IN THE FILM. let me explain: it's established that Roy is an expert marksman and that he knows very well what he's doing... so why when he's shown in his new human form, he doesn't seem to know how to handle a revolver and doesn't even know where is the holster?! there are two scenes where he appears unable to put his own revolver (which he even named it) in his own holster! TWO SCENES where he looks like an idiot learning to handle a revolver.
Another thing that I think was lost was the creative and interesting designs of the dead. in the first movie we had all kinds of monstrosities and in this movie it was just "black smoke with tentacles".
bad movie, don't waste your time watching it.
Figured, pretty bad. Knew it wouid be without original cast.
Out of nowhere, now about the moon. Give me a break.
Annie Oakley wouldn't be impressed.
Feel sorry for the horses.
For the amount of moments that the main characters are just reciting exposition at each other you're better off reading the script. That at least will save you from watching this obvious cash-in on the 'success' of RIPD. Only the lore (roughly) stays the same between this and the old movie. Other important elements, like humor and a flowing plotline, have been lost. There is no reason I could find to watch this movie. Highly skippable.
Not only is this is piece of crap to start with but it didn't take more than ten or so minutes before the far left Hollywood hacks threw in woke bullshit that completely ruined the movie. Even if you tried to filter out that crap the movie is rubbish. Poor acting, juvenile script and jokes.
A shame since the first one was not too bad.
As has been mentioned in other comments, this film doesn't have the same enjoyable qualities as the first movie. The camaraderie between the two leads just isn't as good as Bridges and Reynolds. The storyline isn't that bad, it's just been done before. A lot!
had to turn it off, it was dreadful
Jeffrey Donovan stars in the supernatural action film R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned. When Sheriff Roy Pulsipher is killed during a train robbery, the R.I.P.D. recruits him to help return souls that have escaped from Hell. Donovan gives a good performance and is backed by a solid supporting cast. The mythology from the first film has been changed a little; making deados possessed people, and limiting the physical transformations they can make. Still, it keeps the same wry comedy and delivers some fun laughs. Also, the fight scenes are exciting, and there are some impressive special effects. However, the plot more or less just recycled the first film, repeating a lot of the same beats and jokes. R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned is entertaining, but doesn’t really do anything new with the material.
The obvious blue screen everywhere is annoying lol, horribly breaks the immersion when every scene you can see the blue screen is reflecting off of everything
This is just plain bad. I was excited to see Jeffrey Donovan, but the writing was horrible. There isn't much of value to this movie.
How in the world did the first movie justify a sequel?
:heart:x6
This is definitely not an A-list movie. But it is still watchable and enjoyable. The sequel has a whole new cast which is too bad. I'm pretty sure Jeffrey Donovan was doing his darndest to do a Ryan Reynolds imitation, which wasnt bad - but there is only one Ryan Reynolds.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

The first movie was very nice but this one is just silly. Not worth your time. 2/10
