Quiz Lady 2023

I enjoyed it a lot! A fun lowkey comedy for sisters & messy gals… for me it struck the exact right blend of formulaic comforting heartwarming and quirky surprising humor. whoever created this part for Sandra Oh is a genius too

The plot is rather formulaic and predictable but the film manages to find some humor and heart making it an easy but enjoyable watch.

Spectacular movie, but also very sad since it was Paul Reubens's last movie.

A surprisingly delightful film. Sandra Oh stole the show. Will Farrell underplayed his character which was a nice change. Between this film and Spirited, he's growing on me. Awkwafina did alright. I'm just not seeing much range between this and her other roles.

My Wife picked this to try, we had no real expectations as most movies lately seem to be just ok, but this was better than expected. Quite a few moments of a good laugh, some touching moments, and all-in-all a fun comedy worth a watch.

Awkwafina is always hilarious, tony hale makes a great ben franklin and rip paul rubens.

A fun movie

It was a fun movie. The dynamic between Awkwafina and Sandra is great. Will Ferrell really plays the forever likeable game show host well... almost enough that I think he may have another calling should he decide to leave acting.

I really enjoyed this. I thought that Awkwafina and Sandra Oh had great chemistry together, and the comedy in this hit just the right notes. For me, Awkwafina always stands out in whatever I happen to see her in, and it's no coincidence. She's incredibly talented and brutally funny. I think that she's criminally underrated as an actor.

I’m not sure who is giving this movie anything more than a 2, and that’s honestly being generous. This is 90+ minutes of time spent on garbage that I can never get back. Not funny, not well written or acted. This was just bad.

A comedy that's actually funny, heartwarming and worth watching. Cast is great and Sandra Oh is hilarious.

Loved this. Sandro Oh is an all around genius. She rocked in this role and Awkwafina was just as great. Refreshing to see them act roles that aren't their norm. The storyline was decent and the jokes were well-written. Put it at the top of your to watch list, you won't regret it.

I loved it! Hilarious, sweet, and simple movie. Very well rounded I can see this becoming a classic in my household.

So fucking hilarious! I really wasn't expecting it to be this good ahh

Love this! So funny and sweet without being cloying. Sandra Oh is magic.

I really dug Quiz Lady. I don't know what it is but Asian female comedies lately are knocking it out of the park, between this, Joy Ride, Crazy Rich Asians, and I'm sure there's another one or two I'm blanking on. This is one of Akwafina's best roles, and it's good to see what she can do, when she's not being the caricature of her quirky self. I don't know if I laughed out loud more than once or twice, but I enjoyed everything I was watching. I even came around to Sandra Oh's character (which I was deeply struggling with) by the end - the sign of a decent arc. Also I like seeing Will Ferrell in these type of roles. He'll always be a favourite of mine but I can't deny some of his roles lately have been terrible, even in the massive hit Barbie.

A really great watch - don't sleep on this.

Just a warm, quiet yet chaotic, funny, wholesome, and just overall a great comedy.
Also, whoever casted this NEEDS a raise.

Wow that was one irritable and totally unlikable star of the movie, you couldn't feel any sympathy actually for both of them, so over the top hysterical (suppose to be funny that) but you just want to make them shut up.
I don't think i really laugh on any scene, below average comedy.

Well, this was a lot of fun to watch

A funny family movie. It gives you feels both in laughter and love

I didn’t find the film really funny or easy. There was a great discussion about why the sisters grew up so different (I almost remembered Forrest Gump) and what they should do with it now. But even before participating in the quiz, the good stuff was drowned in clichés (hello, Millionaire from the slums!). So-so fun

Heartwarming and funny in the right measures. Watched for the cast and glad I did! Super cute film

(Gasps) Actual racism!

No offense but I LOVED THIS MOVIE. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! IT MADE ME LAUGH! IT NEARLY MADE ME CRY! And can I just say it was incredibly sweet that "never meet your heroes" didn't apply to Terry. And he was actually good and kind to her. WHAT A PLOT TWIST THAT WAS!

Liked the cinematography, first half was good then got a bit boring and predictable in the middle, but it had a nice ending. The only thing I didn’t like was all the pop-culture jokes, i’m guessing writers do it for the younger audience- happens all the time nowadays, ruins it for me tbh.

The story was wholesome and fun. Some jokes were funny, overall good movie.

On one hand this felt like a '90s throwback. On the other hand, the dialogue and performances were just so good they elevated this to be a damn funny movie. Sandra Oh is great whenever she does comedy, and Awkwafina is nice and anxious, but gets one scene to totally let go. Some gleefully bizarre supporting characters from great actors including Tony Hale and Holland Taylor are great. I enjoyed the soft villains. Will Ferrell gives a nicely understated performance. Just a good time with a sweet note at the end (and bittersweet cameo by the late Paul Reubens)

“You’re excellent in The Good Wife. So excellent.”

I was ready to bail on this in the first fifteen minutes (very easy to get annoyed by BOTH the leads right away) but pushed through and was rewarded with a very sweet and surprisingly wholesome (while also R-rated) and, I must admit, perfectly cast comedy. Really liked this one.

Heartwarming and humorous. I enjoyed the first hour but the last 30mins got a bit silly for me.
Awkwafina was great, sometimes she can be over the top but here she was really likeable and genuine. Sandra Oh was annoying at first, well she redeemed herself in the end.

Funny & heart warming! Awkwafina & Sandra Oh are great together, as is the rest of the amazing cast.

It got a slow start, sort of, but quickly took off after and was just great fun. Sibling rivalry, family woes, and finding your place in a cute comedy. Both Awkwafina and Sandra Oh are phenomenal. I would give it a 9.5.

Also, I'm not sure why it's overall 6 to most people, but I've noticed a pattern with even the best "non- white" actors as stars in films reviewed here and it seems they always get a lower score overall. Sadly, I chalk it up to half of white America (globally for that matter) just can't stand seeing anyone other than white be successful, even if they refuse to admit it to themselves. I can easily see why they would say 6, but again, it's their built in bias they were groomed with from the day they were born, especially if born before 1990.
