Wow, this was scary and revealed quite a lot. Terrifying to think so many girls are blinded by all the lies these recruiters tell them. Knowing it was based on true events, and a few of the headlines in the movie I remember reading about at the time, absolutely terrifying. I hope the real journalist is alive and well.
A crazy roller coaster of a movie. It’s intriguing that the movie is based on a true story and even more so that the journalist’s identity remains a secret to this day
A movie based on a true story that has a unique structure, it takes place entirely on computer and cell phone screens, but it is still very dynamic, tense and holds you until the end.
Episode 10x11
Edited in "computer screen" format, it is really tough, complex and fascinating. It tells us the true story of a journalist who infiltrated the ISIS recruitment networks. She kept the tension through the roof and I never lost interest. Highly recommended.
I couldn't cope with just having that many windows open...
THE FEAR
A decent premise that is weighed down consistently by the bizarre actions of the main character. I understand they are kind of shackled with the computer screen gimmick, but that is the choice they made. I suppose they were trying to highlight how things like this can spin out of control but through most of the film I’m just yelling “WHY?!” at my screen.
Timur Bekmambetov who produced "Unfriended" swears by "Computer screen PoV" movies only nowadays and chose a book about an investigation into ISIS recruitment techniques as the inspiration here. Said material lends itself surprisingly good for the scenario but I would hold my breath for this really becoming a thing. For anything filler they relied on having just a facetime app open which isn't that natural and there have been inconsistencies as to how the story is told technically playing recorded files of strarting the recordings as well as when being logged out of the current user. Shazad Latif carries the movie and helps to distract from the more annoying Valene Kane. The reveal was also convenient as I'm certain that a reverse image search of that one photo of her she uploaded first would have busted her right away if it were real

As a native arabic speaker I understood what he was saying to this security guy on the phone.. I'm just glad that she called Lou.
I feel like I wanna know more about this story:
-- SO he was all this time in UK trying to recruite women sending them to death as he enjoying there?
-- The group chose him to be interface beacause he is a good looking guy to attract them immediately?:|
-- This actor is so talented.
-- I wanna know why the owner of the Candy shop acting so fuckin cool talking to an isis guy he used to know?.. It made me thought that this guy Nabeel is one of them.. Idk:upside_down:
-- Did she die? What happened to her? Did he publish the story?
-- ALSO that picture of his mom is hell of a photoshop.. It's so scary Oh my God.. She could haunt me in my dreams.
-- I don't know if the story he told about his background is even real.. He's manipulative and he knows his goal so goddamn right.. I think he knew that this will connect them in an emotional bound and IT DID!
-- He didn't feel a bit of nostalgic when she gone to that Candy shop.. It didn't make him regret what he was doing even a little bit.
Finally.. I found out that he's so miserable and fucked up and he didn't want to be alone in all of this.. He is making sure everyone being miserable as him, He can't be in this alone.
