Entertaining, fun, and exciting. Great mix of old and new.
Returning to the intensity and terror of the original, Predators is an impressive action-packed thriller. When a group of strangers find themselves stranded in a mysterious jungle, being hunted by some unseen creatures, they must join together in order to survive. The story's well-written, and is able to build suspense and tension as the Predators hunt down their prey. Additionally, the casting is quite strong, featuring Adrien Brody, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, and Walton Goggins. The directing is also especially good, delivering some excellent fight sequences and stunning visuals. Predators is the sequel that fans have been waiting for for over twenty years, and it delivers an exciting, adrenaline fueled adventure.
Another entry in this franchise that gets unfairly panned. Does Ahnuld's shadow loom soo large that noone else can step into a franchise he's in...? This one also features some good action, tense sequences and more world building. Loved the premise of gathering some of world's most skilled killers and placing them on an alien planet to hunt as game.
This one, for me, is the best PREDATOR movie I've seen so far. It was very different from the prequels.
Sad Mahershala Ali got done like that, but that's what makes it a good PREDATOR movie. No pity.
Oof. Not a good look at all. Lazy, easy writing and not in a homage way. Isabela was the best character and I liked that she recognised what they were. Other than that just clichés all over, including the classic 'only room for one female character' trope (The Smurfette Principle). Adrian Brody doesn't carry the tough guy look that well and the batman voice he was putting on stuck out like a sore thumb. The twist with was ham fisted and made no sense and whilst it tried to have this dramatic ending it just fell flat. It wasn't even a good action film.
Of course i loved the first Predator movie, i had rented it for a week and paid all fines then in VHS ! Predator 2 was so funny for a b-movie, i haven't seen Predator (2018) will do though because i'm doing all of this for the "Prey" which i hear is an awesome origin movie that the saga so well deserves.
About the movie, not that bad i could say, had its action, the cheesy lines, but the ending was flat. You can't get bored it keeps you interested, the fight scenes are not enough though.
I cannot forgive a movie that wastes Danny Trejo and Mahershala Ali back to back, and for what? For Adrien Brody, who is a vacuous black hole of charisma as an action hero and thinks a subpar impression of Cole McGrath is good enough? For the comic relief rapist character? Who made sure to bring back the f slur, do not worry. For a movie that overcomplicates a simple conceit and loses everything interesting about it? And The Predator is said to be worse? I pray Prey’ll be worth it. Only gets one star off the back of Changchien and the sword scene
finally, a good predator movie
The story was decent but some of the characters could have been better. The first 2 predator kills could have been better to
So much better than the previous two. This was good entertainment.
3/10
This was bad I mean really bad. Boring and bland with nobody to root for as they were all unlikeable, not that I gave a shit about them anyway. The story was piss poor along with all the characters
and what was even worse this shitty movie had
"The Godzilla syndrome"
We're you have something cool as fcuk and so awesome but decided to show us nothing and settle on humans and their BS instead of giving us the cool thing we all came to see. I absolutely hate movies that do that, I'm not here for human drama and BS, I'm here to see the name on the movie title,
why is that so hard to deliver on.
This movie had no idea what it wanted to be so without a clear focus it ultimately ended up being a jumble Boring messy mess.
Verdict: should never have been made
Garbage. The main character is a total asshole, his character arc is all over the place. At the end of the movie they hadn't even progessed, it was as if they were back to square one.
Actually pretty under-rated and better than the more recent The Predator. Now that I understand it better. That bad ass humans were brought there by the Predators themselves. I always thought they were sent by humans. Which I always wanted explained, how ?
Adrian Brody is pretty under-rated and underused these days. He carried this movie pretty well. Despite being cast against type. He pulled it off though.
In the end though this is still pretty much just the first Predator but on the Predator planet. Robert Rodriguez borrowed a lot of the same formula that the first film had.
Before the movie came out, Robert Rodriguez also gave away his own twist about Edwin (Topher Grace) saying there’s more to him than you think. So for me the movie also lacked surprises.
Still at least Rodriguez’s script didn’t have everyone as the comedy relief. Like with the Predator.
Predator was a awesome movie, and Adrian Brody is an amazing actor, but honestly this movie just didn’t do it for me. I thought it was flat out boring!
Worst of the first 3 predator movies. Near impossible to beat the original, and the second was fun and a different B Movie. This predator movie puts us back in a jungle, and no where near matched the height set by the first movie. Too many generic character stereotypes and the action scenes were okay. Pretty strong cast with none of them shone, apart from Topher Grace whose character really surprised me. Saying that I did enjoy the predator and dog designs.
Adrien Brody as "generic action man" doing his best 'Christian Bale as Batman' impression is pretty cringe but the film is well shot and I can at least see what's happening (compared to the horrible AVP:R that came before this). Really slow to start, though...
This being my second favorite of the franchise. This does some of the same motifs as the first, little more of a twist.
Honestly, this movie is like a Terminator Salvation to me as it is nowhere near as good as the original but nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Predators is a very fun movie and is so much better than Predator 2 as this feels like the true sequel to Predator 1987, with it referencing the events properly during this film and also paying some homage in certain scenes.
The downfall of this film is bland characters who you don't care about as I couldn't care if any of them live or die, though they all act their parts out pretty well and I will say that the action is shot really well with actually a pretty good premise. By far the best Predator sequel and the last good Predator film worth watching.
This is definitely the best Predator film in the series. I didn't especially like the first one and the second is just trash. But this movie is hugely entertaining and thrilling. Unfortunately they didn't continue the story.
There is little to no story but there is some good action. I just wish they would of gotten to the action earlier instead of trying to set up the characters and why they got there (which they never answer).
Well it wasn't better the second time around but it still kept me entertained with it's action and cast XD
Heard good things about it, so I was enthusiastic but with no expectations. The characters are established so poorly, it's just confusing and time wasting. The sound mixing sounded was bad. The background noises were sometimes louder than the dialogue. Every line is just mundane bullshit. Actors suffered from mumbling. Overall , I just couldn't understand what was going on with character motives or plot. It's a survival movie with bad cgi and action clichés. It didn't create an atmosphere in that jungle, it was more a place of cheesy lines and poor mystery. It's not even comparable to the original. The group in this movie don't even move around the jungle with paranoia or even giving a damn. No sweat. No close ups. It's also too dark. The casting was a little dissapointing. What a dumb mess.
Robert Rodriguez did interviews where he bragged about how cool all the characters he written were. However he forgot to explain why all these bad asses were on a Predator infested planet. There's fine action but barely a story.
I like the idea of a best of the "warriors" tournament style being dropped on a planet so the Predators can practice. Everyone has their own unique style. BUT if you have a woman playing a sniper you better make damn sure she looks the part because naturally people will look twice as hard. And man, that girl can not handle a gun. I don't know who the firearms instructor was on that movie, but she is holding the gun like she just found it. I have seen better aim from people playing call of duty for the first time. There is that one scene where she runs out of ammo for her rifle and has to use her sidearm. She shoots at that creature not even holding the gun straight ahead. I usually don't pay too much attention to that stuff but she is supposed to play a professional killer. She literally can't shoot straight.
Good fun and a more than serviceable sequel. Some memorable lines, not all for the right reasons.
Good "sequel" to the predator movies (and finally a good Rodriguez flick again!) with a story that is not the most elaborate but it is sufficient for 90 minutes of action and entertainment.
The filmmakers seem keen here to emulate the original - dropping the audience into the action immediately, retaining the jungle environment and putting the focus back on the hunter/hunted theme. Part of the problem however is that so much of the film seems like a rehash of moments, characters and beats done much better in the original. Adrian Brody, whilst perfectly fine in the lead, seems like he is on a mission to out gravel Laurence Fishburne in who can project the most ominous bass into their voice and the constant conflict and bickering between largely forgettable characters makes it difficult to care as they get picked off one by one. Fishburne's cameo, whilst initially intriguing only serves to slow the film down and the film's efforts to develop the characters and their backstories are unnecessary, with the exception of Alice Braga's character, a surprisingly strong and worthwhile female role in a male-dominated series. It is her character that keeps the audience invested in the outcome. The action sequences, whilst devoid of much tension, are varied and fun, albeit with more riffs on the original, but a huge flaw in the logic of the film midway through is difficult to accept - quite why the characters don't camouflage themselves when they learn of the Predators' ability to see infrared makes little sense at all. A stronger sequel than the last one, but still very flawed.
As Draackje said, if you like the genre and the previous Predator movies you'll most likely like this one too.
It's not hugely different or ground breaking, besides the hunt taking place somewhere besides Earth maybe (not that it looks much different) and it's still a little predictable like these kinds of movies can be, but it's a decent enough action movie.
I didn't think the first Predator was all that great, so I should've known I wouldn't like part 3. Then again; if you liked the first Predator or like the concept of people being hunted, you'll enjoy this one, because I think they did everything right and it's as good as the genre will ever be. Problem is: I don't like the genre..

This movie's opening few minutes were the best it had to offer. It really pulled me in, but unfortunately, by about the half way point, I'd gotten tired of hearing the cast of misfits, troublemakers and convicts talk about themselves. There weren't enough of the actual predators around to keep things interesting.
Adrien Brody doesn't work very well here. Neither does Alice Braga. They're decent enough actors but they just seemed out of place in this violent, Action/Sci-Fi flick.
There were a number of twists and turns here and they were surprising at times, but frankly, weren't all that interesting. I won't write about them as I don't want to spoil anything, even though they only affected me slightly.
"Predators" looks pretty good. I liked the alien landscapes but at times the fight scenes seemed confined to what must have been a rather small set. It felt a bit like Kirk fighting Kruge on the Genesis planet (a monumentally corny scuffle that I still laugh at).
This is the weakest of the "Predator" movies. The original is a total classic while "Predator 2" is a really fun B-Movie romp. I'm not counting any of the "Alien Vs. Predator" movies. They don't exist in the same Humans Vs. Predators domain to me.
