Pollen 2023

It was an interesting take on the haunting presence kind of movie. It's worth at least checking out.

"I'll kill everything, and i'll make you watch! I'm a carnivore too!"

Very sad, cruel and frustrating most of the time but also very empowering as an experience. Pollen is a psychological folklore horror with some good drama. The drama being it's forte, I was really engaged with it: having an awful boss, surviving in an industry where everyone's a carnovore, being a woman in a workplace and trying to reach the top of the corporate ladder. It gets pretty psychological and I loved that but I can't quite say I was sold on the entity. The concept of it and what it brings to the story is good but like, what's the explanation behind it? I really wanted to know. A bit more weird plant body horror would have been great too. Lots of greens and yellows in pretty much every scene I think which is a great touch. Very low budget but it looks pretty good. The boss and Vicky were easy to hate and the main character was frustrating at first but she eventually grew on me. This one ex-seeded my low expectations. A decent watch. Just in time for the allergy season!
