Silly and cartoonish, Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment takes the comedy to the streets. In order to combat a rising crime wave, the 16th Precinct gets 6 new graduates from the Police Academy. Bobcat Goldthwait joins the cast and proves to be a perfect fit with the film’s brand of comedy. However, the jokes are too in your face and don’t really serve the plot all that well. A truly unnecessary sequel, Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment is a rote comedy that delivers a few laughs here and there.
A lot more fun. This rivals the original, and for me has always been the best of the series. The gang, led by Bobcat is great.
