What a star-studded cast! I love the way Robert Benton presents the social issues and crises of the time (like gun violence, racism, war veterans, the Great Depression, corporal punishment for children etc.) with the realism and gravity they deserve, without the wokeness or soapboxing we so often see nowadays. The only sidestory that felt uninteresting to me was the adultery affair of Ed Harris' character, but I guess it was there to tie everything with the film's end message of forgiveness.
I was really impressed with this film! The acting was really good, not a shock, considering it's from a solid cast. Before browsing on Prime, I had never heard of this film before, so it was a pleasant surprise
