Pinocchio 2022

Old characters are brought to life in this live-action but it feels... lifeless! Some minor changes but really nothing new added to the story. The CGI looked good in some parts but terrible in others. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth does a good job as Pinocchio's voice but the highlight for me was Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket (although his CGI model looked lazy and weird). Some of the dialogue was awful! Overall this remake really lacks heart, originality and feels unnecessary. I would definitely rewatch the original instead. Fingers crossed for del Toro's version!

Half way through. I'm loving it. I have special memories to Pinocchio. When I was a little kid my big brother heard me crying in bed cause I got afraid of death. Never before did he show me he cared for me and even though he was only 13 (I was 6) he came into my room and calmed me down by telling a story about Pinocchio. It's my earliest memory. And this just brings it all back. Now I get to watch this with my 8 year old and she's mesmerised. I don't care what anybody says, this is magic.

Disney needs to stop. Please.

Another pointless Disney live action remake. It has its moments but it really needed an extra sprinkle of the Blue Fairy's magic.

Go and watch the 1940 original instead.

Butchered the source material. Another piece of Western heritage mocked and ruined. At this point it would be embarrassing if the nefarious element behind what’s going on wasn’t so blatantly obvious.

I could go on and on about how story elements and crucial symbology are left out for no reason, how superfluous elements and characters have been added, again for no reason, but there’s no need to deeply analyse these things.

Go and watch the 1940 original instead.

creepiest movie released in 2022...

What the hell happened to the fairy?

She was beautiful in the original and now she is Skunk Anansie...

I had more enjoyment reading the terrible reviews ripping this movie to pieces than the actual movie.

This is the definition of a soulless corporate film.

i don't think i enjoyed a single second of this movie
pinocchio didn't learn life lessons
jiminy cricket as the concious was absolutely useless in this movie and did absolutely nothing
the whale was a FUCKING KRAKEN
pinocchio as a boy in the end was nightmare fuel
and i guess the blue fairy animation must have cost too much because they used mystical blue light in the end instead of just having her change pinocchio

The fairy is black, the bad guy at the puppet show was black in the original movie, but in this one he is white. The animations were really bad sometimes. The Pinocchio was good actor.

Excellent animation, but it fails in parts!

  • Cute story, in a way very faithful to the original movie, I found the songs cute.

  • I already saw live-action best of disney itself. this sin in parts of the animation, the story that not even told is faithful, but could be better.

Anyway, great movie, but it takes a lot to be perfect!!

Forget all the negative reviews. This was an enjoyable movie, that moved along in a good pace. Good acting from all the live actors, with Tom Hanks shining as Geppeto. The CGI wasn't the best, but it was good. The sign of a good movie is when it brings a joyful tear to your eye. So enjoy and "Wish upon a Star".

that's so bad. what a bad CGI

why they did not made pinochhio boy at the end this is trash !

loading replies

Casting Tom Hanks as g'pedo is g'enius. I wonder if we will see Pinocchio's shoes on Tom's Twitter, or is that only for real boys?

Writing this review as a 27 year old. This movie is magical. Your kids will love it just like I did back in the day.
Hearing the lyrics of Disney's theme song never gets old.

Easily Tom Hank's worst movie.

Hoping the del Toro version is much, much better.

loading replies

I enjoyed it. It was a decent movie. At the end they didn't need to show him turn real. It would have been better. He was already real all along. That's a more powerful message.

loading replies

I watched this because of Tom Hanks but I was bored the entire movie.

loading replies

This movie is just stupid, from start to finish. I don't understand who approved such a script.

loading replies

It’s not the best live action Disney adaptation of an animated movie but 26% good reviews is harsh. Since it does capture the story well, despite some miscasting and unnecessary added scenes and characters.

Not bad, but the old version was a lot better. Pinocchio did everything but never became a real boy as promised. , so an empty promise is OK for kids.
CGI was ok and some scene didnt fit in. overall it was a ok movie.

It's an okay movie but Pinnochio's design ruined a lot for me. He just doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the world. A world with some beautiful animation work. Tom Hanks is a decent and likeable Geppetto but Jiminy Cricket is straight up annoying. After hearing him call Pinnochio 'Pinoke' for the umpteenth time I was just done with the character. The accent was a bit much to for me as well. The story is simple and really true to the original and I can respect that even though I'm afraid that the story will have problems fitting in in 2022.

[Disney+] The new adaptation of Carlo Collodi's masonic tale flounders in its attempt to surround the story with an exuberant visual environment, and calls into question the meaning of a live-action adaptation. Because the animation is surprisingly poorly integrated with the live action, especially in the latter part of the film, and the wooden puppet's journey ends up being bland and unexciting.

Honestly, it was not that bad.

Visually stunning, although the story was very confused and mixed up. Several of the actors accents disappeared half way through. His nose only grew once and he didn’t become a real boy (which is the whole point of the movie). Kids will still enjoy it just fine and pleasure island and the whale were a sight to behold.

I'm not done conversing!!
Undoubtedly it has good effects, but it doesn't have that hook of the movies from before Disney, I don't know if they have lost that touch of their movies but it's from Pinocchio.
It's like watching a Pinocchio X movie I think they've lost the touch .
