Seth Rogen and James Franco are awesome in this movie.

It was an alright comedy, actually quite funny overall. I had a nice time watching it.
Sorry guys, but this wasn't my kind of trip.
Pineapple Express was kind of all over the place. Stoner flick. Action flick. Buddy flick. Rebellious daughter flick. It doesn't do any of them great, but does manage to entertain. Seth Rogen is solidly starting to typecast himself. He is this generation's Jim Carey where all he plays is the exact same character with a different name in every movie. I thought James Franco did surprisingly well as Saul, our dopeman. He was funny without going full Spicoli. Ed Begley Jr. was horrible. Plenty of laughs here.
If you have to be high to laugh at a film, is it really that funny to start with?

Pineapple Express is like being high, you're gonna laugh at some stupid shit.
I'm not a stoner, don't do drugs, and didn't like marijuana when I did, yet I laughed out loud multiple times watching this movie.

A twenty-something loser (Seth Rogen) and his affable drug dealer (James Franco) get in over their heads when the former witnesses a murder and leaves behind a crucial bit of evidence: his half-smoked joint. As it contains a new, rare strain of marijuana, the killer is able to trace the roach back to its source and give chase to the spooked stoners, who then stumble and bumble their way through a number of hopeless escape plans while inhaling their entire inventory.
As Rogen/Goldberg/Apatow jams go, I’d rank this near the bottom. Neither as witty as Superbad, as earnest as Knocked Up, nor as wildly over-the-top as This is the End, it’s a shallow, one-note show that doesn’t provide many big laughs. Basically just a few talented buddies, with a studio budget, having a good time and amusing each other without really worrying about how that’s going to translate to the screen. Franco is great as the stereotypical weed hookup who secretly harbors a sensitive side and Danny McBride is, as usual, good for a loony, disconnected dose of white trash chaos. Otherwise, it’s a bunch of stuff that sounds funny on paper but doesn’t deliver in action... even if you’re a member of the tree-smoking population.
It just doesn't make me laugh anymore. It's ok movie but nothing i would like to see again.

Hilarious in parts and I'm a sucker for Seth Rogen who can seemingly do no wrong in my book.

I'm usually not one for comedies but I absolutely loved this movie and laughed my way through it ... is it because of the great chemistry between the leads? I honestly think they couldn't have found a better duo for the job, I had the best of times plus one more reason to love James Franco !
No way is this as funny or as entertaining or as enthralling as The Interview. James Franco's character is pretty sweet for a drug dealer. Some of the scenes are memorable but they're mainly at the beginning of the film and are character based. The action wasn't entertaining for me. I guess I didn't really follow it as I was multi-tasking so it was perhaps more of a complex plot than I expected. The same thing happened the first time I watched it though. Guess this is a lost cause for me.
