I'm not sure why it took me so long to watch this movie but I'm glad that I have. It's got all the ingredients of a classic 80s horror film including a family moving to a new home, an Indian burial ground, jump scares, blood, gore and a very creepy child.
Not as great as I remember from childhood. Really realize how much the missing plot points from the novel leave choices as questionable in film.
The movie is a disappointment, but I would recommend anyone to read the book, which is really good!
Based on a Stephen King Novel, the movie starts very interesting and scary but gets worse and worse. Has some few creepy moments but overall is just not worth watching IMHO.
Despite not being very stylish, this is an incredibly fun movie, and I am really happy to have taken the time to watch it. It is a short feature that showcases some of the most beloved horror trends of the 80's, and it has a rather funny script as well! Some elements were just strange and amusing (that weird painting in the Goldman house?), which made it remarkable and gave me and my friend endless reasons to talk about the movie for hours after.
Thanks, IMS Paulista for choosing this film as their cinema contribution to the 2019 Virada Cultural!
"Sometimes, dead is better."
Me before having a kid: Cat is a little creepy but I am a little bored.
Me after having a kid: THAT TRUCK IS GOING TOO FAST!
Ooo Jesus, That must have really hurt. Right after the scene where Rachel dies, when Luis wakes up and falls out of bed hitting his head on the desk.
So much better than the remake! And the cat was real in this one ....
wow not bad i only knew the audiobook this was very good.
Great child actors creepy..
7/10
The kid playing Gage is incredible!
After watching this go listen to Funeral Derangements (and watch the video too)
Everything seems perfect for the Creed family after moving to their new home in the countryside. But after their pet died and they discover that their house sits next door to a pet cemetary, their life spirals into chaos. Another solid entry in the Stephen King film adaptations. I personally prefer this one over the remake. It tears me apart in a lot of ways with its horrifying story about the need to accept that death is just a part of life. It really draws you into the characters’ lives and gets really depressing as it makes you witness their emotional suffering. Gets a little cheesy at times but honestly that's what makes it so much better.
Watched this after the remake. I did like it alot. But the kite scene was so badly handles imo. It was so obvious they where all meaningly not watching Gage until he was close enough to the road. I feel like there could have been a better way to distract everyone to not look at Gage. Some other scenes also didn't make sence. When Rachel crashed the car she didn't even try to back out of the ditch.. For that it's a 7/10 for me.
I honestly think, if you live in the time (80s) this movie was out, it probably seemed super gory and crazy. I like it. Classic. Of course some people will say it's a waste of time, blah blah. Sure, if you compare it to newer horror movies. But I think it is still worth a watch, even just once in your lifetime. And that's what I did.
I thought this was a decent adaptation of Stephen King's novel. The story was interesting, even though it got a little bit boring and repetitive sometimes. The characters were very interesting. My favorite part in this film was the scene towards the end when the little boys kills the old man with a scalpel. After that he starts to eat the man / drink his blood. I thought that was a great and gory scene. It's an enjoyable film, definitely worth a watch.

We look for tolerance to images.
The zombie is not scary, it breaks the moment of suspense.
There are some strange effects, but I don't know why we do them.
At the beginning the images were obvious signs of exploiting the woman, showing inappropriate breasts and careless legs with a clear carnal message of women.
It is a walk through people's tolerances. or perhaps dabbleing what the world has done with us.
what is assumed as correct and what is assumed as incorrect.
The difficult thing is to imagine the voice of a zombie child, and the death of the child is tragic.
The images were distorted at first.
subtitles but no voices. Just the voice in my mind
when I stop at an image, it changes as the movie progresses.
I see myself doing those actions, and I look for the reaction that I wouldn't do.
I remember that I am not breathing.
cat with eyes of different colors, right white and almost green on the left.
the truth is that the movie ended a while ago for them, but Mr. Time does not let them rest.
One fact is that being on this side is the only way to appreciate the effects.
They play with sexual thoughts, at first they were obvious, apparently it starts with war of the sexes, perhaps to know the sex of the person on the other side. In a few moments I synchronized with the man.
Documentary voices when you see a human hand stretching the face of a cat.
"Sometimes dead is better." Based on the bestselling Stephen King novel, Pet Sematary is a frightening horror film. The story follows a family that discovers a Pet Cemetery behind their back yard that has mystical properties, which if used, comes with a terrible price. The directing is especially good and brings an impressive amount of tension and suspense to the film. However, there are a few storytelling issues and some of the acting is weak. A faithful adaptation of Stephen King's terrifying thriller, Pet Sematary delivers some chilling scares.
Very creepy movie, especially the cats eyes. The acting wasn't great and the story is pretty mediocre but it was still worth a watch.

BUILD A DAMNED FENCE!!! Honestly, put up a fence and there would be no reason to get into that sloppy, raising the dead thing.
I've never read this Stephen King book, which from all accounts is amazingly scary. After watching this movie, I wish I had. It's not that this is bad, it's just not that special. There are some eerie moments with the little boy but unfortunately he seems to be the best actor of the bunch. Dale Midkiff as Dr. Creed and his wife, played by Denise Crosby, are horrific...and I don't mean because they are in a Horror movie. They're so bad that they're distracting, which is a problem since they are the main characters. Fred Gwynne is big and stiff, too. But he at least brings some personality to his role.
