A fun unique rom-com with good chemistry between Andy Samberg and Cristin Militoti.
I've read that Bill Murray and Harold Ramis had huge fights over how Groundhog Day was going to be created. Murray wanted a film that feature existential questions while Ramis wanted something more of a screwball comedy. It seems as though the film ended up somewhere in the middle and that both men must have gotten at least a little bit of their way. Palm Springs seems to pick up a little bit where Groundhog Day left off. The main characters are placed into a situation where they are to question (along with the viewer) what makes up a life and what it means to have a tomorrow. Is it so wrong to have a life filled with comfort? What does the person in such a role owe the others that are not in the same role? And so on.
While I enjoyed the movie I wouldn't say that it is great. The leads were excellent (Samberg is a revelation) and the story was good even though I found the science part of the resolution to be pretty iffy. The movie was fun to watch and that's often the most you can hope for.

Beautiful movie. Had a great fun watching but I'd laughed my azz off if Roy would put Nyles into timeloop at the end lool
“We’re already sick of each other. It’s the best!”
Not perfect, but pretty darn close, considering it's ANOTHER "tale as old as timey whimey wibbly wobbly, time looping Groundhog Day-esque, exploration of what would happen if you got stuck in a temporal loop and couldn't get out. BUT, instead of just one person realizing they were caught in a loop, what if there were others there with you, to explore the possibilities, good, bad, light, or dark?
Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti are indeed a quantum match for this screwball take on a potentially played out premise. But, the supporting cast, rather than being mere detritus and fodder for various sight gags and miscues, actually add to the storyline.
As J.K Simmons mused later in the film, "you have to find your really good day, and try to be happy there". Well that's ONE solution, or, is it? Even if you were able to share that perfect day with the perfect person, would you want to be stuck there forever? An interesting question, that has been explored before, but, here, somehow is fresher, and more thought provoking.
Is the paradox resolved in the climax? I was left with questions, but, perhaps that was done purposely, perhaps leaving room for part 2.
Worth a watch.....
I had really high expectations going in and it surpassed them by a landslide and every minute was a fucking blast. Now, it should be mentioned that I'm a whore for time loops so that's definitely a strong factor BUT I think most people would enjoy this
The vibes, the pacing, everything
This fun take on the time vortex the characters live in has some cool elements. It is a wise decision of the screenwriter that the characters suffer the effect of repetition at different times, which allows to build a more complete story. And that the action takes place at a wedding, because the protagonists experience an "eternal marriage". The story is well constructed and the result is a fresh romantic comedy.
Simmons and Samberg..sittin in a tub..s-n-o-r-t-i-n-g
Good movie with funny momments and nice perfomances.7.2/10
Great take on the 'groundhog day' movie, Samberg is perfectly cast in this role, and has a great on screen chemistry with Cristin Milioti, they built the story and the mythos really well in a tight movie, i went into this movie not knowing of the premise and that opening caught me off guard, absolutely loved it!
Shallow, unfunny, poorly structured, shot, acted and edited. It's like it was made by/for gloomers.
Andy Samberg doesn't seem to have the range or discipline to act as anything other than a goofball.
Go watch The Map of Tiny Perfect Things instead.
In the multiverse, there must be better copies of the movie than the one I just saw. Perhaps I was expecting something more given the high reviews for this movie, but on this viewing, I was pretty disappointed. Not as funny as hyped and not as insightful either. Its okay. but I'm hoping to wake up to a better version tomorrow.
I have never seen a rom-com like this before. And even though I was familiar with the concept, because I've been following news on it since Sundance, it was still very fresh.
The chemistry between Cristin and Andy was just out of this world.
Fairly simple romcom with some twists. It doesn't do anything particularly original but is simply a predictable but fun romp. Pretty damn funny at times. Instead of the usual meet-cute stuff it's a bit more of two mildly shitty people finding out about each other over some time. Fun and cute
Palm Springs proves to be an ingenious time paradox romance which is wildly funny, exciting and warm. With brilliant chemistry between the leads Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, it provides with good laughs. A well made Rom Com Original.

If you liked Brooklyn Nine Nine, I think you will like this movie as well.
Andy Samberg is just plain awesome, and Christin Milioti is a great complement.
Went into this movie without looking at trailers or descriptions and was pleasantly surprised!
Really liked this movie. They chickened out at the end. They shouldn't have shown what happens afterward, that was the whole point. It didn't matter.
This was fun, lighthearted, funny, and they both had great chemistry. A little light on the whole time loop aspects, so a point knocked off for that. Otherwise, yeah I'd watch this again. It's no The One I Love, but it's worth a watch.
It isn't a original theme and i've seen this "stuck in time" in another films but i really like the Idea of two or more people sharing the same universe. also the cast's perfomances are great. i love andy !!
It was a lot better than expected
We liked it, cute and enjoyable
I don't know, guys. A few years ago, I sought out every time-loop film that existed (there's a lot). I feel like if all you've seen is Groundhog Day or Edge of Tomorrow, this will be refreshing and fun, but if you've seen all the movies I have - it won't be very original, and it won't stand out as amazing. I'm too spoiled on the genre. It's fine, the concept is fine, the characters are having fun, but it's a massively pointless movie...which is partially the point. But...eh. There's better.
That second “i love you” Andy said was the sweetest and most heartfelt thing I have ever heard all year. No joke. As much as I love him, I almost never buy his performance when he’s doing romantic scenes and/or declarations, but THAT. Sighhhhhhhh. Too sweet.
I started this movie not knowing anything about it. I was pleasantly surprised because I've been looking for fresh new movies like this all week. You wont be disappointed if you enjoy movies like Groundhog Day.
I haven't smiled in a long time, this film did the unthinkable. I had a great time, the charisma of the leads is enough to make this film extraordinary!! Highly recommend it!!
oh no, another time looping movie?
But, this one was different. it had funny moments, romantics, weird and more. the ending and the credit clip was little confusing. ]both still together but he didn't recognized the other character that is looping in time. how he remember her?
This movie made me think, if this ever happens to me. I hope is not a Monday.
I went into this with extremely low expectations, but this was a legitimately fun, entertaining rom-com that I would have no hesitations about watching again. Samberg was fantastic as always, and the rest of the plot and characters were just as good. Loved it!
It's uncanny to have this to be such an enjoyable romcom. I don't think anyone tuned in expecting anything more than a 6/10.
"Palm Springs" emerges as a brilliantly inventive take on the romantic comedy genre, breathing fresh air into the familiar 'time loop' narrative with charm and a unique twist. The film stars Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, whose chemistry is palpable, providing a foundation that is both humorous and heartfelt. Samberg delivers a performance that perfectly balances cynicism and vulnerability, while Milioti shines as a charismatic force, bringing depth and strength to her character.
Directed by Max Barbakow in his feature debut, the film takes what could have been a worn-out premise and turns it into a refreshing story about love, existential dread, and the choices that define us. The clever script by Andy Siara weaves laugh-out-loud moments with poignant introspections, making 'Palm Springs' more than just a comedy; it's a thoughtful exploration of what it means to connect with someone authentically.
The backdrop of a never-ending wedding in Palm Springs adds a surreal, dreamlike quality to the film, beautifully captured by the cinematography that makes full use of the vibrant, sun-soaked setting. The score and soundtrack complement the film's mood swings-from whimsical to introspective-seamlessly.
In conclusion, "Palm Springs" is a delightful surprise, a comedic jewel that turns an old concept on its head and offers viewers both escapism and philosophical musing. It is a must-watch for those who enjoy smart, funny romances that are as thought-provoking as they are entertaining.
Rated a Connor 10, normal 10
if you don't like andy or jim carey, just skip this. otherwise, you will see some good spins of groundhog, very refreshing. especially roy!
I'm not very into rom-coms, but this one really got me. Great chemistry between the two, and of course you can't never go wrong with J.K. Simmons. This rom-com is kind of out of the typical and ordinary movies in that genre. I really enjoyed it.
This film surprised me a lot. Hoping for another solid Andy Samberg film and got something even better. Tons of laughs great story and great acting by both Andy and and Cristin Milioti.
It's weird and not really Sci-Fi (at least there's basically no science in it) but it's entertaining (fun, lovely, etc.). It also isn't a novel concept but that doesn't matter as time-loops can still be fun when the story is good (and if one doesn't think too much about it).
Rarely seen such a waste of a good premise and great actors.
This was a fun movie. I went in without knowing the premise of the time loop, which made it even more fun. When the arrow hits Nyles in the shoulder, we shouted WTF?? Up until that point, it was trending towards a typical rom-com, but from that point on is when it got fun.
It's always hard to keep the plot holes in line with these types of movies, but why did Nana say that Sarah was leaving soon? And the mid-credits scene made no sense and didn't match up with the rules of the main story.
I went back and watched the beginning again now that I know the premise. It's definitely different the second time around!
Good movie, it's really fun to watch
The best romcom I've ever watched. Also the best endless time loop thing. Beautiful!
Showed promise but ultimately another time-loop film that wasn't worth the time investment.
3/10 - Mediocre film, very unlikely to rewatch
Not effective as a love or romance movie. Nothing about it causes any love feelings. Also, it's a not a funny comedy. Only interesting because of the concept of a day repeating. The day wasn't interesting to watch.
Maybe Adam Samberg's magic chin dimple made people give it high ratings....
Palm Springs puts a new spin on the old time loop story, and I am surprised at how well it works. Andy Samberg is fantastic as ever and shows off a little more acting chops than I give him credit for with the more emotional scenes in the film. The chemistry that he and Christin Milloti share is spectacular and felt so incredibly genuine. I felt so many things during this movie ranging from happiness, sadness, and laughter, it really takes you for a ride and it is such a fantastic one at that. This is such an underrated film and I cannot recommend this enough.
Verdict: Excellent
although it was expected story, but was nice movie to watch, funny one
Another Groundhog Day of the Groundhog Day ... unfortunately it is not a very successful loop, the end of the day is not very revealing to be the last, perfect incarnation.
Dead Poets Society would be proud. Palm Springs is a fantastic, funny, romantic, melancholic, amusing Tribute to Life itself: Carpe Diem
Actually liked it. And I am not a fan of so-called rom-com movies. It differs from others already boring timeloop movies. The main actor is good. So good casting.
I didn’t expect to , but I like it.
This is one of those rare movies I immediately wanted to watch again right after finishing it..
This is NOTHING like B99, it's nowhere near it and it's just a piss-poor Groundhog Day wannabe.
THE UGLY: ‘PALM SPRINGS’

NOVELTY: 60

THE GOOD:
When it’s not dropping American Pie-style sex jokes, Palm Springs goes all-in with hilariously over-the-top situations that erupt out of nowhere and make little to no sense, but somehow remain funny nonetheless.
The basic plot idea is like The Groundhog Day meets About Time, but with added twists, making it more nuanced and surprising. There are multiple characters stuck in the same time loop, but who remain somewhat dislocated from each other, meaning that the story can branch out in different ways and focus on different perspectives.
It’s clear that a time loop concept is just a tool used to tell a hilarious story since the script makes no attempts at explaining the hows and the whys of the loop.
The two leads do a generally good job of immersing themselves in the story and having a good time together, which helps to keep the film interesting throughout.
There’s a deeper story with an exploration of emotions, priorities and relationships embedded into the story and allowed proper space among all the messing around.
THE BAD:
Most of the film has a frantic pace with overstuffed sequences, making it sometimes hard to follow. You have barely time to take in a scene before the film throws in something new or takes you to a different situation. At worst, this leads to the comedy being undercut by the rushed storytelling.
The plot starts playing around with its hook before setting up the story or the main players properly, which makes it difficult to get a grip of the story and subsequently makes the first half of the film less enjoyable.
The middle part of the movie is mostly just messing around with little to no actual content to deepen the plot or characters, and most of it isn’t even that funny.
THE UGLY:
J. K. Simmons is all fuzzy and likeable, that’s a new one! But it doesn’t last long...
THE VERDICT:
Drawing strength from its two leads and its almost indifferent approach towards the time loop subgenre, Palm Springs has loads of heart and several things to say but doesn’t always deliver in terms of plot, humour and overall tone.
67% = :heavy_minus_sign: = UGLY
I liked the first 2/3rd of the movie, top bad the last part is so cliche
"I felt everything I'll ever feel. So I'll never feel ever again."
What a refreshing spin on what has been done so many times before. I found myself laughing and then getting invested in the characters. This was recommended to me last year and I am sad I didn't watch it immediately, and now I want more Sandberg/Milioti movies!
Lightweight and - in places - really fun! It's just incredibly uneven.
Samberg is good. Simmons is excellent. Everyone else does okay.
Groundhog Day it ain't.
6.75/10
tl;dr The setup was great, but punchline was meh. Not fantastic, but still enjoyable, entertaining and funny.
Film tries to combine a lot of stuff, but everything is done on the surface level.
If you came for romcom, I guess it an OK romcom, but not exceptional. I am not a big fun of the genre, so I watched because of sci-fi and Andy Samberg.
Time looping was done very simply, but worked well as a plot device. Apart from Nana being the opposite of Chehov's gun. However, there was some incoherence in post-credit scene. You can make up rules about how your multiverse works, but then you have to follow them. Sarah said that goat disappeared from their universe, so in post-credit instead of having no-looping-memories-Nyles, there should not have been any Nyles. The classic "I have all the time, so if I study quantum mechanics really hard I will surely understand what is the problem" was also present.
There were some attempts to explore some existential philosophical questions, but it either did not go anywhere or was simply answered with romcomly "love is all you need".
A very good movie, very funny, with some very good special effects. Only the story doesn't make much sense. But it is one of the best movies of 2020, J.K Simmons played very well, as did Andy Samberg. It's more of a SF movie. It's a bit short, it could have been at least 2 hours, and so maybe the story would have been better
Nice Surprise
loved it
lovely and refreshing comedy with great chemistry between the two actors.. loved them both
I'll have a Groundhog Day, shaken and with a twist please.
Not as good as the original but largely watchable.
This could have ended up being a modern rip off of Groundhog Day, but instead it took that movie's premise and used it to both set up a number of great comedic scenes and ask the viewer to mull over some unexpectedly deep questions about existence and the quality of life. Adding to this, the cast was phenomenal with Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti has loads of chemistry with each other. Don't overlook this gem.
I was surprised I enjoyed this. Rom-com with a little sci-fi, light and not too lengthy. Unrelated with the theme in the movie, but it did make me wonder if I would want to relive the best day of my life again and again?
It is impossible not to compare this with GroundHog Day but they are indeed different movies.
It is a very likeable, funny with great chemistry between those two, weird as it should be and the ending does not differentiate from what you expect. A nice rom-com hidden gem
I’m usually not into romcoms and only watch them if my GF wants to. But It was actually me who picked this one to watch! I was sold after the trailer. It was surprisingly good. Lots of fun, awesome humor and crazy quantum physics stuff. 8/10. Definitely recommend to watch!
Ps. The soundtrack on this was freaking awesome! 10/10 on that.
A great movie in the vain of Groundhog Day. We all know Andy Samburg is brilliant in his movies and any Lonely Island production but this movie has a sweetness to it engaging the viewer with the what if? We can all dream about the meaning of life and what is or isnt important, and this movie shines a light in a comedic fashion, tenderly and brilliantly. A great watch.
The movie is surely top 5 in the time loop movies,
It has everything you need romance, comedy, action, friendship, philosophy.
I shouldn't have been surprised that I liked this as much as I did, I mean Popstar was great and I Think You Should Leave is one of the best shows I've ever watched. All three looping characters are just perfect together, it's hilarious from start to finish, and it is different enough from the usual Groundhog Day copycat that it works by itself.
Probably my favourite film of 2020 so far.
Very curious about what happens after the ending though, was it the same as the first timeline or the last, also if she came back without him, would he just be missing from her new timeline or would he be there but not know who she was, and if he then decided to come back, what would it reset or would he just appear, or would the version of himself at that point suddenly remember, or maybe they redo the day all over again but this time it’s the real life, or they just reappear at the moment before they enter the cave, still it doesn’t explain what happens the the other person, also what about jk Simmons what happens to him, he’s just living the same day for the rest of eternity and we are ok with it coz he’s not a great person but he’s having a good day, like he said he never gets to see his kids grow up, what happens to them, also wtf did that nan just say about her being about to leave, I dunno I’ve confused myself it’s probably good it ended at that point.
Palm Springs (2020)
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Cast: Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti
Director: Max Barbakow
One of the best rom-com of 2020.
Loved the refreshingly unique concept of this movie. I saw this type of storytelling before. Its not new tho. But this film has some genuinely funny moments , which will surely make u laugh. Andy Samberg-Cristin Milioti were fantastic and had great chemistry together. I recommend all to watch this movie. Its a fun movie to watch.
PR: 8/10
Easily the best movie I've seen all year. Wow!
And just as i thought they'd forgotten Roy, there's the post credits, fuckin JK Simmons. Awesome!

A light, bright and tight rom-com!
I didn't expect to love this so much. I kept my expectations pretty low for this because of its repackaged Groundhog Day premise. All of my reservations were blown away by this movie's sheer brilliance. It is fun, cheesy and heartfelt in the best ways possible. With the pandemic going on for months, this movie brought in an air of freshness.
Just go ahead and watch this utter delight of a movie. One of the best rom-coms in recent film. Definitely the best to come out this year.
