Nothing special... could work as a Hasbro TV commercial ;)
just watch this and all i got to say is shitty movie...don't waste your time.
Thought this was going to be a good supernatural movie. OMG was it ever TERRIBLE!!! Nothing scary at all... what a waste of time.
clumsy writing, bad acting, boring horror non scary moments and all the obvious cliches ... the worst horror film from the US this year.
it wasn't as scary as i expected, but still really good
The Lego movie was scarier than this one.
You can't expect much from a movie about a bunch of teenagers fooling around with a haunted board...so you shouldn't be disappointed with this fun little scary movie. It's not "horror" (there's nothing really horrific about it) but it make for a good spooky/creepy feel. Bunch of teenagers get together and play with a Ouija board and get pretty much what everyone expects to see when you "play with a Ouija board". (I don't know about today's generation but back in my childhood/teen years, everyone had this fascination/fear of playing with a Ouija board and seeing what - if anything - would actually happen. Kind of like staring into a mirror at midnight and repeating "Bloody Mary" three times. We all dared each other but no one would ever do it.) No, this wasn't a "great" movie by any stretch, and the acting was pretty sub-par, of course, but again...this is what everyone EXPECTS to happen when you play with a Ouija board, so Hasbro - and the rest of the producers - capitalized on that paranoia and came away with a fun, creepy 90-minute film. Don't watch this expecting a "horror" film; watch it expecting some great "creepy feeling moment" suspense and you'll probably enjoy it. I found it enjoyable, even if predictably lame.
I only watched this because I recently realized that Flanagan’s film actually worked with the canon from this one. I’m actually more impressed now with what he was able to pull off.
The most vanilla horror flick of all time
5/10
Nowhere near as good as the second movie
which I always watch first.
This was just plain boring and
with uninteresting characters
that I had no love are care for.
Boring
paint by
numbers plot,
Even though it's under
90 minutes it felt like it was on for much much longer,
I had to really grind that second half out
Just to finish this Meh movie.
Second one 8.5
This one 5
just,only because
Jason Blum was involved.
VERDICT:
Move along nothing to see here
(Check out 2 though it's Awesome
and far superior in every way
to this movie).
Mildly creepy, Hasbro’s latest board game film, Ouija, is more monotonous than scary. After her best friend commits suicide Laine Morris uses a Ouija board to attempt to contact her on the other side, but instead of her friend Laine reaches a tortured spirit that’s seeking help. While Olivia Cooke gives a fairly decent performance, the rest of the cast is rather bland. And the plot is a pretty stereotypical ghost story with all of the usual tropes. Yet the production values are quite good, and set a chilling and atmospheric tone. Ouija isn’t so much a bad film as it’s a clichéd and uninspired one.
A waste of time... like most of terror movies
Not bad at all and the acting is pretty solid. Just don't go in expecting too much and you'll have a good time.
This as a standalone movie offers you nothing. Literally. But do watch the prequel Ouija: Origin of the evil (2016) before this one. The flow of the story can then be felt and you will not find this movie much boring in this case. The story/making/performances could have been way better. Would rate only 5/10 as a standalone movie
Relies too heavily on jump scares.
Teenagers help movies make a lot of money. In turn, studios have to give teenagers movies so they can populate the theaters and horror movies are some of the easiest to make. That is why we have Ouija, a movie based on a board game that is chock full of all kinds of clichés that led to a really lazily made movie.
Not the most original plot, but no worse than any other of the 'supernatural' horror movies these days.
I knew the main actress Olivia Cooke from Bates Motel series and she really did not disappoint here!
I also liked the pace of the movie as it does not seem too slow or too fast either.
The scariest thing about this movie is that one chick's uni-brow.
The best thing about it is that it's shorter than 90 minutes.
Predictable horror movie.. nothin too scary that could make me jump so yea.. juz mehhhzzz
few people in cinema being the 2nd week, less bad than I expected, but far from others in this style. No redeeming values aside from Shelley Hennig (and even then she's barely even on screen ).
I had a few jumpy moments but overall it wasn't that good movie
This movie scared the hell out of me :')
This movie is just plain awful. No redeeming values aside from Shelley Hennig (and even then she's barely even on screen for obvious reasons).
