A darkly comedic and highly entertaining small-town horror drama where a mysterious antique store owner turning townsfolk against each other. Where it struggles is with its tone. It's so all over the place but despite its flaws, I still find it enjoyable. I wouldn't say this is a terrifying film, it's just the way it oozes the early 90s that make this film so comforting to watch. The plot is fairly straightforward compared to other SK work but there's something so alluring about it. I'd say my most enjoyment comes from the acting from the cast. Ed Harris makes it fun and Max von Sydow as the antagonist makes it even better. All in all, this is one of the better adaptations and I'd recommend giving this a watch.
The 188 minutes tv cut adds a great deal of backstory but alas this film is still mediocre.
And so the devil rides on in a rather acceptable if dull at times 90's take on Something Wicked...

Instant 1 due to dog being killed at 56 minutes, horror movies need to leave pet killing out.
