Meet the Parents 2000

Great Comedy

Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is a male nurse, poised to propose to the woman he loves, Pam (Teri Polo) but the right thing to do would be to ask her father's permission first. During a weekend of getting to know them, he manages to make a strong impression; for all the wrong reasons. Her father (Robert De Niro) isn't quite what Greg has been led to believe, and right from the start he seems to have it in for his daughter's partner.

De Niro and Stiller play off each other brilliantly, and both of them give fine comic performances, with a surprising level of depth for comedy characters. This film is packed with slick gags, hilarious scenes and it has a really fun story; it's a comedy film that you don't want to miss.

Not as good as "Meet the Fockers" but still enjoyable.

"Jesus, Focker. It's just a game."

Can't believe it has been 20 years. My family hardly ever watched movies together but this was one of the few that became a classic in our household. It had been a few years since I have seen it and while it can be almost too much cringe at times, Stiller and De Niro's chemistry still cracks me up.

Meet the Parents is feeling its age now but there are still some moments in the film that are still quite funny. The film relies very heavily on its humor though and some are the characters are such awful people that lose believability. I'm not a big Ben Stiller fan and I still consider this to be one of his best movies. De Niro's character is a bit of a shake up for him which was nice. The rivalry between Stiller and De Niro was obviously one of the highlights of the film

A classic, feel good comedy with two enjoyable leads with chemistry. While this remains my least favorite of the trilogy, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t look forward to watching the original shenanigans time and time again!

Rating: 3/5 - 75% - Worth Watching
