Maniac Cop 1988

Why is Frankenhooker in the banner pic for Maniac Cop? Is there a crossover I don't know about or just wishful thinking

Maniac Cop is a cult hit and I just can;t see why? I enjoy it, I like Robert Z'Dar's look, I always like Bruce and it has Tom Atkins. But the I was expecting better or at least more original kills? But we didn't get those!

We did get a very fun film! It is enjoyable, has a decent ending and the badass Maniac cop played by Rober Z'Dar. And it has that 80's feel to it. Which I like.

Anyway, I'm off to see Halloween on the big screen! (The original!!!!)

A fun and inventive action filled slasher which offers a good time both as a slasher film and as a compelling mystery thriller. I'm quite surprised that this isn’t like extremely goofy or over the top, instead it’s a pretty clever reinvention of the slasher formula with attempts at social commentary on police brutality and corruption which remain relevant to this day. This one is definitely a less horror and more action-oriented, but it pulls it off nicely. Though it's not overtly gory and perhaps could have used more variety on the kills, it mostly succeeds at being a good mystery. There's some good atmosphere, the grimy vibe of the film that perfectly fits the material it works with. Also, Bruce Campbell is always fun to watch.

Probably fun once upon a time, but doesn't hold up in modern times. That's okay though.

That detective should really have brushed up on his aim, he tried to shoot the "Maniac Cop" 4 times from a few feet away and missed every single shot

It's been a while since I've seen Maniac Cop, but it's still a good time. The pacing is good, the acting is decent, and the villain is excellent. Story wise, it could have been a bit “tighter”, but Maniac Cop is still a LOT of fun.
