hard to rate this movie bc the character makes me so uncomfortable and 'cringe' but that's just how it is/was.
extraordinary performance from Carrey
I guess its a good movie especially for Kaufmann fans, I unfortunately never heard of him.

Sometimes I tend to forget that Jim Carrey is not only a funny guy but actually a really good actor. Then I watch Man on the Moon and get my mind boggled. I don't think I ever heard of Andy Kaufmann before but every time I watch this movie I feel like I really missed something.

Carrey gives one of his best performances. Though Jerry Lawler said the film portrayed Kaufman as a nut. When he was supposed to promote the movie on Monday Night Raw.
I recall him and Jim Ross knocking the movie a couple of times in fact. Lawler and Ross are actually in the movie but my guess is they hated it after seeing the movie.
The movie does go off the rails here and there. Which is more of the fault of the screenplay, than Carrey himself. I agree with Lawler that the film does portray Kaufman as a little out there.
