Maybe movie is not that bad.
But it's so boring... It's incredible how at a certain point you realize that there is more than half to movie yet to go...
That movie was so bad that it took me almost 3 hours to watch it. Because I had to keep taking breaks. Because it was so terrible. Aside from the weak "plot", here are some other things:
~ terrible acting by almost everyone, even actors I normally like- it's like they knew it didn't matter, given the script
~ very close to the beginning, they're in a club and Adam says "She doesn't look like she wants to be bothered" and Mike says "Look at what she's wearing. She came here hoping to be bothered." NO. GROSS. This is disgusting and men need to get over themselves, jfc. And then two minutes later, these girls accept shots handed to them by a man they just met, which contain who knows what and which were not made in front of them. This entire scene is a PSA of what not to do, for everyone involved.
~ at one point Dallas says, with absolute sincerity, "F--k that mirror like you mean it."
~ Is Matthew McConaughey contractually obligated to say "alright alright alright" in every movie now? Come on.
Merely 20 minutes in I decided to hate-watch it all the way through and now I deeply regret it, and I'm angry.
"Magic Mike" is not for everyone. It can't be accurately summed up with some exuberant catchphrase like "Laugh out loud funny!" or "A tragic masterpiece!" or "Nail biting suspense!" Also I would say that this is a very uncomfortable date movie, a very uncomfortable bro movie, and it's probably too heavy for a fun, gal's night out movie.
Way too stupid to be good.
I thought this was gonna be good, especially since there's gonna be a sequel this year. boy was I wrong...
"Entrepreneur/stripper? Stripper/entrepreneur?
Wow I was pleasantly surprised by this. It's a little sad considering it is based off of Channing Tatum's experiences before becoming an actor, but it is done in a tasteful way. All I really want to say is that the newbie is a dick and Magic Mike is way too nice.
A little bit more boring than I expected but like that it ended on a good note. That I wasn't expecting that after some of the stuff that happened. I want to know more about Joanne though, cause their dynamic was interesting after finding out she was engaged.
5 stars .. (1 extra star for abs)
Channing Tatum stars as ‘Magic’ Mike, a stripper trying to carve out a life for himself in Tampa. We follow his antics as he befriends a younger man new to the game (Alex Pettyfer) and deals with his veteran boss (Matthew McConaughey).
Steven Soderburgh takes more care with cinematography and capturing the moment than he does with the plot here. This is by no means a crime, but Magic Mike tries so hard to tell a story without actually getting anywhere that you wonder if some key parts were left on the cutting room floor.
McConaughey steals the show as the strip club’s slimy owner and former stripper, and if Magic Mike is worth a look at all it’s for him.
In fact, Magic Mike is worth a look every moment it’s not mope-ing about. The strip numbers are pulled off with such fun and pizazz that it’s a shame the rest of the film gets bogged down in subplots that go nowhere.
Entertaining for the most part, even if it doesn’t live up to the hype.

Just when the story began to pick up steam it just stops... WTF!?
Oh Lord... thank you for giving us these talented sexy men. Amen. ^-^
It's really not a good movie!
Late night re-watch. Such a funny flick.
It passes understanding, how one could make a film about male strippers not entertaining. But, I witnessed that Soderbergh totally managed to do it.
Sorry, guys, I find male strippers basically hilarious.
This movie really sucked in my opinion. Besides getting to see Joe Manganiello practically naked I could have never seen it and I wouldn't have been missing a thing....
tatum still cant act his way outta a paper bag but i enjoyed watching him dry hump everything. and the tears, hahaha. McConaughey was looking pretty tasty still. needed more alcide. you'll be very disappointed if you watch for any other reason than to see hot guys w/o shirts off.
well, I liked u.u
How can a movie with so much male nudity or semi-male nudity and a decent soundtrack be so damn boring?
If there was a plot, I missed it. If there was a romance, I missed that too. Next time I want to watch a movie about male strippers, I'll re-rent The Full Monty
