Sally Hawkins was great in this, but as a movie it wasn’t too entertaining.
Started off great with focusing on the lives of the female sewing machinists, then lost focus with the disconnected scenes from union meetings and scenes with government officials. The subplot about Rita’s child and the schoolteacher was needless.
The film might have been better had it told the actual stories of the three original women that were used in creating the composite character of Rita O’Grady.
