terrible story... what a waste of time
Can't wrap my brain around how this isn't called Love at First Flight.
Cute, but I wish they hadn't leaned into the statistical thing so hard, made it a bit cheesy. And the Jamila parts were weird, I wish she was just the narrator and then maybe popped up at the end. I think the core story about a chance encounter, missed connection, a wedding, and a funeral was plenty without these other gimmicks. They detracted from a surprisingly touching and poignant story.
But overall enjoyable; definitely scratches that romance itch!
Enjoyed this one way more than I should have. A good, light hearted easy watch.
The kept calling a Ford Transit van a Sprinter van. It even showed the badge as being modified to "Transition"
I really don't get all the hype with this one. It's a generic rom-com with all the traditional cliches. I mean, it's not terrible, but I guess it would be a great fit with the ones in Hallmark or Lifetime. If you want a traditional corny rom-com, you certainly will be delighted. Nothing less, nothing more.
A cute love story, well-cast. I loved the narrator mixed into the story. I loved the theatrical living memorial.
8/10 great
As a film it’s a 6/10 but the 8/10 is for it being a romcom….
Great cast, very well acted and a damn good storyline that follows the normal rules for romcoms, but somehow adds a new slant on them……
My only complaint is the very end, it’s a little bit boring for an ending, but it’s still a good romcom
So damn predictable, I just really did not like it at all.
This was a very pleasant surprise. I knew almost nothing about the movie, but for some reason, it was on my list and we wanted to find a romantic movie quickly, and this came up first.
Although the story and the events are quite predictable and nothing we haven't seen before, the quirkiness of it all, including Jameela Jamil's narration and her frequent appearance in different roles made it special and thoroughly enjoyable for me. I also loved the statistics part, both in narration and in the life of Oliver.
At first, I was wondering where have I seen the female lead that made me dislike her a bit and then it dawned on me: she was in The White Lotus. In Love at First Sight, however, I was eventually able to overcome my "resentment" and have grown to like all the characters - her included.
The movie is probably the most enjoyable romcom I have seen in a while. There was nothing too much or bothersome in it for me, no unnecessarily disgusting scenes, and what's most important, no parts where I felt second-hand embarrassment. It was all humane and normal, nothing over-the-top (well, it's a romcom, so not thoroughly lifelike, but almost). It also made me feel nostalgic and made me remember my travels and some great people I met, so I loved that about it.
This was a decent movie for being a chick flick. Obviously we already know how the movie will end, considering they all end the exact same way, but like I said, not bad. Nothing special either.
+1 for the idea for the narrative. :)
A neat movie that does what it meant to do. It's heartfelt, heartwarming, moving and fun enough. It could be a Christmas season movie or an any other day movie.
I'm a fan of Haley Lu Richardson so that probably helped, and the British cast, including Jameela Jamil, was good.
Yep.
I didn't love this on first sight...and I didn't love it on second sight either. Predictable film but the cast are decent enough.
This is a movie about the beginning of a beautiful love and the idea that to love someone you just have to decide to do it. I like it.
A love story buried under bad writing
As expected. Interesting idea but typical cheap Netflix production. Cliches and bad acting by the dad was the worst for me. Weird narration as well.

I never thought I needed a statistics meets romcom movie but now I WANT MORE!
