In Lingua Franca I liked the story, I liked the directing, I liked the actors, I liked the concept... I liked everything except the movie.
:grimacing:
The pacing was just too slow for me and I felt I was always one step ahead of the film, waiting for it to catch up. How could so much go on yet nothing happen?

The director manages to convey the anguish of the undocumented immigrant, persecuted, subjected to a random hunt. It is a clear, shocking vision, even more terrible when transgender identity is hidden inside a passport. But it does not manage to build a story that transcends the denunciation, that manages to escape from certain topics and some imbalances. It is finally a film that does not find the right vehicle to reinforce a compelling theme.
