Like a Boss 2020

A lot of people have labeled this film as terrible, and referenced it as one of the worst of the year, and that's honestly some seriously harsh judgments. It's not terrible, it's just average, safe, and uninspired - it basically felt like a lot of modern comedies about female friendships, but it's not specifically bad. I personally liked these women and some of the jokes actually landed rather well with me. Maybe thats just me.

Seems like they started filming without a proper Script. Low effort movie. But that's not a crime. 5/10

Made it about an hour. Comedies should try to be funny. I'm not sure they even were trying.

Saw an advance screening in a fancy movie theater... I must say I liked the theater more than the film. The jokes hardly landed, the dialogue uninspired. These phenomenal actresses tried, I think... but it still came off as a mediocre effort.

This movie is the definition of bad clichés, that besides good actors doesn't offer anything. The story is pretty foreseeable (e.g. Salma Hayek's character Claire Luna adds a clause to their contract that she would get the company if the partners fight and one of them leaves - so obviously the entire story evolves on how they are going to break up). On the comic side we have a mixture of jokes building on clichés (gay clichés, toxic masculinity, etc), dirty jokes and slapstick that didn't manage to get me laughing once.

So coming from an average 5/10 I don't find anything that weighs in on the plus side, but both jokes and bad story writing that substract a point each, leaving us with 3/10.

I like Rose Byrne a lot, but not even her could save this. It's way too short for it tries to achive... nothing seems to make sense. The sudden fights, the sudden breakups, the sudden makeups just because.... Really poorly script, some decent acting and more likable actors like Rose Byrne and Karan Soni than characters.

This movie has been made numerous times before. Best friends have a falling out over something and then the power of friendship wins over adversity blah blah blah. The movie had a great cast and so should have been good even with a reused plot, but it was fairly average and boring. There was nothing that stood out as memorable or different. It seemed to consist mostly of slap stick moments of stupidity and women selling each other out/insulting each other along with tired sex jokes. There are much better movies to spend 90 minutes watching.

One benefit of watching this on streaming was I watched this over three days so for two days I thought this was super interesting and only that last day felt awkward and uninteresting. It really highlights how much this is a solid premise with no writing behind it. The setup writes itself but there was no thematic weaving going on. No real payoffs and the ending felt sloppy and unearned.

"You're so greedy, it's like you have a little Mr. Krabs inside of you."

According to the internet, this movie’s got 2 writers. But I’d think that by now Hollywood has some kind of supercomputer set up somewhere that just pumps out this kind of generic garbage.

Ashamed to say that nobody even forced me to watch this, I did that all to myself. Tiffany Haddish thinks obnoxiously loud equals funny, and Salma Hayek is painful to watch.

This movie is made for an audience that considers "I just took a DNA test. Turns out I’m 100% that bitch" the height of female empowerment. Message is good I guess, but something a kid would be taught, not adults which is the movie’s target audience somewhat.

There are a couple of funny lines in the film and the cast do their best. Sadly, the people in charge of the story didn't do a very good job, and if I was their boss, I would probably demote them.

There's nothing wrong with the cast of this glossy comedy... Yet even this hugely likeable trio can't save a film that strives for subversive laughs and sisterly inspiration and falls short on both counts.

Movie is basically shown in the trailer, it's about the standard that you'd expect.

It's pretty bad but did have one funny part where Tiffany Haddish ate some ghost peppers.
