I find Drew Van Acker basically my ideal man. I admit though he's not a great actor and the movies and shows he accepts are not good. This one is no exception.
at times the acting between van acker and timlin is wooden and forced, but surprisingly once their characters are at odds with each other their chemistry drastically improves. steven strait's entire performance was a delight to watch. i will say the ending of the movie was absolute garbage, after the major final twist. it wraps things up in a way that feels incredibly unrealistic (namely, stop letting the person give a dramatic deathbed speech and call an ambulance?? that's not a life threatening wound unless you just let it bleed out??) but i can see it for the creative choice it was. also, 2 entire separate scenes of a man shaving another man's face intimately in a NOT coming of age queer indie film has to be a record, right?
It wasn't perfect but it unfolded in an unexpected way, which made it more interesting.
