I liked but still prefer the swedish original.
The idea behind the story would be great (at least has some interesting points) but the execution is amazingly bad. We were really disappointed watching this movie…
Honestly not as bad as I thought it would be. Hollywood does have a tendency to butcher their remakes of european films but this was actually ok. And Chloe Grace Moretz has proven that she'll go places for sure.
I agree with Liz Noel, this movie has nothing on Let the right one in. It lacked the gloomy and intense atmosphere which you can feel in the original Swedish movie. The original was much scarier because Lina Leandersson brought a darker side to the vampire character. I felt this film was too slow and slightly boring.
Freaking amazing! I had to buy the blu-ray after seeing this!
Let Me In is a unique and provocative vampire film. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Owen who seeks out the friendship of his new neighbor, Abby, but things get complicated when he discovers that she’s not just a girl. Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee are perfectly cast in this film and bring a level of sincerely to their performances that really make this friendship feel authentic. The film explores themes of loneliness, isolation, and the bonds of friendship in a very unique way that’s quite captivating. Let Me In is an unconventional and compelling drama that’s especially well-crafted.
From a great time until now, I've seen a movie that explores the concept of a vampire so well.
People tend to compare movies and imagine how it could have been better and, well, it could have been an Oscar competitor or the best adaptation of the Swedish (is it from Sweden? I really don't know and don't care) original. It has references to Romeo and Juliet signifying that Abby and Owen cannot be together at a certain point of the play, and also builds a tension when it opens to your imagination as she is a vampire or some other mystical creature. In that way, many can not explore the potential that the movie gets. As I said at the beginning of my comment, it has been some time since I saw a great vampire movie and this one has pleased me, not for the hype around Chloe Grace Moretz or Dylan Minnette. Mainly, because it uses the original tale from Bram Stoker and apply it in the only vampire movie from recent appearances (disregarding Twilight or that another franchise of vampires and werewolves) excepting Castlevania series on Netflix, which is an animated series and not a movie.
Loved it, another of my fav vamp flicks!
a very different kind of take on vampire movies, refreshing.
I enjoyed it
Chloe Moretz great as always!
WOW, just WOW!!! Didn't expected this to be good AT ALL while browsing through my horror collection!
I'm not a fan of this vampire stuff, but I have to give this one a thumb's up because of the awesome soundtrack.
Michael Giacchino is King!
Brilliant, Chloe Moretz was specially great
If you liked Twilight, well... Don't watch this!!!!
Perpetual horror.
I was putting this one off since i liked the orignal so much, but after viewing this I feel that it is almost better then the original. Chloe Moretz is great in her role as Abby, and the pacing was a tad bit faster. Oh and seeing the word "Hammer" back on the big screen is an added plus, let's hope future films from them are just as good.

Well, this is certainly a remake of the original film and not just another adaptation of the novel. Most of the dialogue and shots are directly from the Swedish film and it's very obviously trying to recapture the magic that Let the Right One In has. All in all, I don't understand why this movie was remade (aside from the obvious desire to profit off of it) because this American version really brings absolutely nothing new to the table. It's an alright movie but I'm hesitant to say that it's a good remake (as remakes go) because, like I said, I don't understand why you'd watch this when you could watch the original and get almost the exact same thing but...better. Regardless, it's not like I didn't enjoy watching it, and I can easily see how anyone who hasn't seen the original could be very impressed with it. Chloe Moretz delivers, as usual, and the soundtrack was lovely. The only serious complaint I have was with the "climactic" scene - it was just hugely disappointing compared to the original and I really got absolutely nothing out of it. They really missed the mark for what made the original scene great and took the film out on a very low note. Bottom line, no, I would not recommend this movie to a friend. If they expressed interest in it I'd tell them to watch the original instead because I genuinely believe they'd get more out of it. But if you want to watch this one I think it's safe to say you'll enjoy it enough for it to have been worth your time.
