Odd that the description thinks that Tralala's biggest problem is that she's in love, and not that she got beaten and gang-raped by like 50 dudes at once. Weird thing to leave out.
A woman's descent into hell
The movie folwlows a bunch of characters in 50s Brookyln who are many degrees of repulsive. The plot and was too lose. No defined direction, and the character journeys left didn't seem interesting. Being dark and gritty for the sake of it is a tad empty. I can see why some would like this though, but I didn't connect

It's taken me a long time to get round to seeing this - I couldn't find the entrance to the last exit to Brooklyn - but I'm glad I caught it. Yes, it's bleak and depressing, and filled with mostly unpleasant characters. But its also well filmed, powerfully performed, and evocative of the period. I liked it, despite its ugly exterior.
