Good up till Starlord rides bikes with Velocidoodles.. fetch boy! Get em! Speak!!! ppphhhffrrrrttt
Yeah, well... I do not know what to say about Jurassic World. I heard some good things about it from different sources and decided to give it a try, even though the previous installment of the series weren't that great. But after two hours I cannot recommend it wholeheartedly. It's not a bad movie but it's also not a good one... There are no fresh ideas, no outstanding actors, a mediocre plot and this leaves us with a off-the-rack action blockbuster that does not really shine in any aspect.
What I really liked here is that the discussion wasn't about the harm of "playing god", like the previous films. It's more a critical approach about the consequences of combining biogenetics with capitalism. The use of biogenetics it's presented first as an entertainment, thereafter as a future lethal weapon. I think it's a very good critical vision on the developments of the american bellic power.
The only thing missing is speaking dinosaurs
A bit disappointing, but let's face it; no sequal is ever going to come close the the original movie from 1993, which was excellent.
There nothing really wrong with this except for the ending which is kind of a deus ex machina. We don't hear or see the T-Rex for the entire movie and then the writers simply put it in to save the day, together with the Megalodon which appears at the beginning of the movie.
The entire Velociraptors working with the T-Rex just so they can kill off the "evil" dinosaur doesn't really work that well either and is just incredibly lazy and illogical writing.
Last 15 minutes were fun. Rest was mostly crap. Too cliched. Terrible acting. Terrible choice of actors. Raptors were fun though.
To be honest, I was expecting something entirely different. This was a whole different fare for me, and it never felt like an adventure, but more like a s*** hits the fan CGI-fest. Two kids are sent by their ass-tired parents (hey, Judy Greer!) to a totally secure JP that has been operating without major problems for 10 years in order to visit their aunty, who happens to run the whole operation, and who's too busy to care any less for them. Like an echo from the 90's, the big bad corporation who runs the park has a CEO who decides to create a new dino species with the initial motive of boosting ticket sales, because as any parent who has taken her/his kids to Orlando surely know, Mickey can be fun for the little devils only a few times. Their ulterior motive is revealed later, and I won't spoil it for you, but it's as just as lame as you might expect and totally unrealistic (like taming a flesh-eating tornado to kill your enemies). Anyway, as it could be predicted, the "asset goes out of containment" and things go awfully wrong. One single dino literally wrecks havoc and destroys a muti-billion touristic attraction. The whole time I was thinking in the back of my mind "Gosh, those lawsuits are gonna be awful, InGen and Masrani Corp are soooooo broke right now". It's a so-predictable late 90's movie that it's a little bit more fun than JP3, but only barely. The story has many plot holes and tries to support itself on outdated conventions. What made this flick at least tolerable for me (besides the excellent 3D conversion), was Chris Pratt as the "Raptor Whisperer" who becomes (of course) the "reluctant" hero who happens to be also humble and funny (and a former lover of the kids aunty). He's getting typecast so fast into those roles, I'm afraid. My hopes were too high for this movie, and I was utterly disappointed. Maybe you won't, until you settle down from the adrenaline rush and notice the paper thin story. Sequels like this one are the reason why I own only the first JP movie in Blu-ray, and gave away the other two.
While not quite back to the level of the original, this was one hell of a way to kick off the new trilogy. The tone was much different (albeit no Spielberg), but it captured an identity that felt new yet didn’t copy the original. The cast is stellar, and despite being the first new movie in almost 15 years, I think they really hit it out of the park as a sequel / new entry point.
Rating: 4/5 - 8.5/10 - Would Recommend
Like a tantric quickie, this is long on action but nothing resembling depth.
Actually, this reboot is better than I remembered. There's little downtime and decent acting and what else can you ask of a movie about dinosaurs eating people?
[Note: I saw this as part of a Jurassic World marathon, leading up to a pre-screening of Jurassic World Dominion.]
So after the absolutely massive opening weekend box office, it's clear that there will be more "Jurassic World" coming. Is that a good thing? Well, we are talking dinosaurs here, and to me, almost everything is better with dinosaurs.
Look. This is not a movie without all kinds of problems, including annoying kids, some absolutely stupid military super-soldier subplot involving the raptors, a boring performance by Chris Pratt, and tons of product placement.
But I think I mentioned it before. There are dinosaurs.
I don't care that these weren't all real dinosaurs, that they were hybrids. They looked cool and they were at times, quite scary. People get attacked in this movie. Pterodactyls swarm the amusement park crowds. Raptors and Rexes munch people. There's real danger throughout which I'm thinking would be the case if the beasts were real. This isn't the "good" Terminator shooting people in the leg.
Thankfully, I was able to get carried away by this movie. I didn't scoff or pick it apart while I watched it and I came out of the theater satisfied. I knew going in that I had just bought a ticket to escape reality for a couple of hours and "Jurassic World" delivered. I can look back at it now and find things to be critical of, but it was still a fun flick. And again, there were dinosaurs.
I don't exactly know why but I dislike Bryce Dallas Howard soooo much, not on a Natalie "female James Franco" Portman level though.
"Hold on to your butts".
Jurassic World takes place 22 years after the original Jurassic Park failed the new park (also know as Jurassic World) is open for business. Jurassic World welcomes visitors from around the world to explore the wonders of seeing dinosaurs roam the Earth once again. Yet waning attendance has the Masrani Corporation focused on a new attraction - a genetically-modified dinosaur - a brand new species - but the plan backfires and threatens everyone on the island.
Jurassic World is a movie that nobody thought was going to happen, and that's because of the long development and the little bits of rumors about the project and that's the behind the scenes and some of the people who was working on the film dropped out due to many different reasons. Me and almost everyone give up on the film getting made, I mean it's been about 14 years (As I speak) since the third movie came out and the very last time we sawed Jurassic Park. Until one day, it happened, it finally happened. We finally got the movie we been waiting for and the first teaser trailer may have some people mixed about it, but almost everyone was excited for Jurassic World, and that's because the trailer caught that magic and wonder that Spielberg's Jurassic Park had.
Now after seeing the movie yesterday I got to say it's a way way better movie than Jurassic Park 3, but not as brilliant as Steven Spielberg Jurassic Park but I think I'm being a bit too harsh comparing the too because nothing can't top the first one and I wasn't really expecting this movie to do that, I'm just saying.
The director of the movie Colin Trevorrow has spoken out before saying how much he loved the first Jurassic Park movie and how that was he's childhood nostalgic. Now the only movie I've seen Colin Trevorrow directed is Safety Not Guaranteed which I sawed about couple days ago and I thought that movie was good but with many flawless which I will go into one day in my upcoming review for it, but anyway Colin Trevorrow as a director he's pretty good and in this movie he's directing was a bit off at times in a couple of scenes, but the rest of the time I thought he did good directing.
Chris Pratt was hands down the biggest stand out of the whole movie. Chris really won me over of being a down to earth action star with movies like Zero Dark Thirty and Guardians of the Galaxy. Every time he was on screen I was interested in his character because he was cool and was the only likable person in the movie. Chris Pratt did a awesome job in the movie and if they do make another Jurassic Park movie I really hope he's in it because he was the only enjoyable character in this movie.
The one thing I was a bit worried about before seeing the movie is the amount of CGI used in the movie, I mean just judging by the trailer they looked like a lot and yes these loads of CG in the movie, but for the most part it did look good at times and during the action scenes. But I will agree that these a little bit too much of it and some of it looks unfinished and didn't look like it's in the same environment with the actors.
The Indominus Rex in the movie was both menacing, scary and freaking cool and refreshing to see. The end battle which I won't give away was the highlight of the movie and it was a great way to end the movie.
I also love how the movie tells everyone to forget Jurassic Park 3, it's like a sorry letter to the fans and admitting that the third one sucked, even through this movie isn't flawless as well.
Now for the problems: Now I talked about Chris Pratt character being the whole good thing in the movie...well that's saying a lot if you compare he's character to the rest, because every character in this movie are dull and flat or just idiotic. I think the movie mostly focus on is action scenes and the dinosaurs being cool, but not really focusing on the character and let's not forget that what made the original Jurassic Park movie so special is the character's and how likable they are. Bryce Dallas Howard character was one unlikable character and the movie tries to make you like her towards the end, but I still didn't like her.
The writing in this movie is really flat and pretty awful at times. Now I have seen many movies that I can picture in my head of the writers just given up and put whatever down to make them feel that it good enough, but this is very close to being that. These many plot holes in the movie and scenes that didn't really make any sense at all, like how people are getting pretty bored of the dinosaurs thing, I mean WHAT!, how on earth can you be bored of seeing dinosaur's it's like the best thing to happen in a long time, now I now the movie does explain why but I don't buy into that at all. Oh and there's another sub plot in the movie with this government people wanting to take the velociraptor in war zone for a military weapon and that right there is so freaking stupid and so idiotic to do, because velociraptor can't just kill bad people they can turn on you because it's in they nature to kill and to them your just meat to eat.
The kid actors in the movie didn't do terrible job when it comes to acting, but they are scenes where they keep looking straight at the camera like most kid actors do, I know it's only for a split second but it took me of the movie a little bit and I couldn't take it seriously when they did that, and it happens more then once in the movie. The movie keeps cutting back to them and they not interesting at all and slowed down the movie for me.
The movie keeps re-creating or showing scenes that are just like the original Jurassic Park movie and after a while it got a bit annoying and pretty old really fast, I mean I would like if they just did a new movie with a new story, and not just keep going back to the original Jurassic Park and telling us how great Jurassic Park was.
Overall rating: Jurassic World is a big improvement from Jurassic Park 3. It may seem like I'm nick picking here but that's just my honest thoughts of the movie. You may like it more then me and these nothing wrong with that, I thought the movie was good if I was judging it only as a Jurassic Park movie, but the movie dose have many flaws that could be improved on easily. Beside that I enjoyed the movie for what it was and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
We have here a useless modern version of Jurassic Park lacking the wonder and innovation that made that movie legendary.
Everything is predictable, nothing is exciting, this is not as intense as the first trilogy and I couldn't connect with the characters. Indeed, I didn't feel any symphathy toward them because they are either unbearable like Claire and the children or bland like Owen. The only character I Iiked was Zara (even if we barely saw her) only because I love Katie McGrath since I watched Merlin, but they got rid of her in a visually impressive and violent death scene (one of the best scenes).
Concerning the dinosaurs, the special effects are really good and I loved seeing the Mosasaurus however I hated the Indominus Rex because what appealed to me in this franchise was to see and discover in a movie dinosaurs that really lived on Earth and not to see a pure creation. Therefore, the impact is not the same, I wasn't thinking "Wow, this is impressive ! I can't believe that such creatures really existed before, this is crazy !" because the Indominus is a fake dinosaur.
Even though it's not usually my kind of film, I do enjoy watching the Jurassic Park films. My brother used to watch them all the time when I was little, and so I had no choice but to enjoy them.
I'd seen this film at the cinema, and watched it again the other night, in build up to the new one that's going to be released. I really enjoyed it both times. The effects are brilliant, and there's enough storytelling and decent characters to keep watching.
The woman who owned the park was really, really annoying though. She was as thick as two short planks. I think this was intentional though, but she really got on my wick. I was disappointed at the end, because she survived. Glad the war-mongerer was killed though. I have as much sympathy for him as I do for Hitler. GoodBYEE!!
...Needed some Goldblum. other than that rather generic :P
Maybe I expected too much from this, but I found it rather dull. It was too family friendly in my opinion. They needed to make it more horror like with blood & gore scenes. The CGI on the dinosaurs looked really impressive, but other than that this movie needed more dark and heart stopping moments.
The movie has a Disney vibe, at least for me. The only thing missing is speaking dinosaurs, but the sparkly eyes, pompous fairy-tale like music and drama are there. Personally, I expected more from it, some parts were just rushed over and it finished too abruptly. I guess kids will appreciate this much more than I did.
Was expecting a great movie and it certainly delivered. It has all your classic Jurassic Park stories and some nice nods back to the past but it certainly stands on its two hind legs ;)
Dont go in expecting the same magic as Jurassic Park and you will enjoy the action and the funny moments fully.
This is a bad movie (3). Predictable plot (bad script). Non-existent dialog (also bad script). Half-assed acting (bad acting and directing).
Only thing that it has up his sleeve is its 150 million dollar budget that paid for good CGI and lightning. It is another Hollywood factory blockbuster. Mostly flash without any bang.
Claire running around in her high heels and out running a T-REX is the most ridiculous thing I ever saw in a movie. Almost killed all illusion of disbelief...
Tense, visually dazzling, nicely scripted and directed, outstandingly acted (with Chris Pratt standing out with a high note), and, above all, with a good number of highly effective elements to appeal to nostalgia, "Jurassic World" may never surpass the original film but it is a very compelling entry on its own and it definitely outshines its previous sequels.
Good actors and good CGI, but that's about it. The characters aren't great and the storyline is mostly shit.
How this is sitting at 75% when Lost World is at 72% I don't know, my expectations were low for this as I didn't like the look of the trailers, but it was so much better than I thought. Very meta and self aware, nothing groundbreaking but a fun adventure that is a true sequel to the original.
All in all, it was alright but the urge to buy a Mercedes has never been higher.
This movie had many, many eye roll moments. It's not good. And yet....I keep wanting to watch it. So I guess that makes it some sort of good. I do have a laundry list of things that annoy me, but it's almost in a "fun bad movie" sort of way, like I almost like it better for it. Also, I was 9 when the first one came out so I was either destined to despise this and claim it took my childhood...or love it. So I guess I love it? One thing is for certain...Bryce Dallas Howard = total babe.
Before we review a film like Jurassic World, we need to state one basic rule. We will try not to compare it too much to our memories of the original. Jurassic Park is one of my favourite childhood films, and thus is etched into my mind as a masterpiece that no other dino flick can reach, therefore any sequel would not be up to par. Also, it's worth noting that before going in, I had already seen/heard lots of thoughts and opinions (it's near impossible not to tbh when you have the current action hero Chris Pratt starring, and listen to the Nerdist podcasts).
So, let's get into this, I am not sure we need a synopsis for this film, so I will keep this brief. In the previous film(s) dinosaurs had been brought back from extinction, and they ate some people. In this film, corporate sponsors decided to try it all again, but people are bored of dinos now, so they create a new one. This leads towards, yup, dinosaurs eating people.
Do you need to have watched the previous film(s)? No, not really, although you should anyway. There are a few scenes where the characters don't explain where they are, but if you have seen the first film, you will know and recognise the vehicles/equipment, but if you don't know, nothing is really lost.
My main concerns going into this film though, were not about the plot or dinos, but around whether I would actually connect with any of the characters, the kids looked annoying, as did the Clare character, also, I didn't just want another Star Lord character from Pratt. That being my main concern, this was actually pushed back after the first quarter of the film, once some actual peril was inserted into the plot, Clare quickly opened up to be a proper character, and the kids were less screamy than I thought they were going to be (my scream limit was at the brink in the first film, I must say). As for Pratt, he brought some light humour, but not the loose cannon style we have seen before from him, he was knowledgeable and serious, with a light tongue-in-cheek style which worked nicely.
The other concern was from the trailers, in that Pratts character seemingly communicates with the raptors. Now we all saw Indy IV with Mutt speaking to his monkey army (sorry to all those that were trying to forget that nonsense), and I was really fearful this would again be the case. Well, set your minds at ease, it's portrayed in a much more realistic way, where he is merely slowing the raptors down and feeding them. This gives the illusion of control, which is a central point of the Jurassic films.
The last point, which you may have read a lot on is the marketing in-film with a lot of product placements. I will keep this brief, it is there, and there are parts of the plot which use this in a really nice way. I did not feel it over the top in a Waynes World style as others have implied, and am often suprised I don't see more of this on TV (especially as ad breaks are dying out)
So, with those pre-concerns out of the way, what did I think of the film? Well as a film, it was really good. We got the action and poor-judgements we expect in this sort of film. There is also some family turmoil (with the kids and their parents) which thankfully is not suddenly resolved because of this disaster (that would have close to ruined the film for me if they had).
Sadly there was one thing missing in my opinion, but if you think about it, it makes sense based on the plot points and story (bigger, scarier). There are no small dinos, even the petting dinos are baby ones of larger dinos. One of the few things I liked about JP2 was the small dinos which stalked and nibbled people to death, they were proper scary. This is maybe the point which carries my only real negative opinion of the film, there was no fear factor. The big dinos, whilst amazing to look at, and are dangerous, aren't scary enough. Yes they added some extra stealth features, but still, in JP1 we had the stealthy raptors, and in JP2 we had the micro-dinos. The third film did not have the dinos, but it was a different type of movie IMHO than the other films (note, I did enjoy JP3). But JP4, the closest I got to good scary dinos was from the birdcage, so wish those had stealthed a little more like in 'the birds'.
Finally, for better or for worse, the ending involves something that reminded me of some kind of dinobot teamup, I quickly got over that, but it was still there, and a little less realistic because of it.
Overall this was a really good/fun film, which I certainly enjoyed. That said, the fear factor (mini dinos/ flying dinos) really was the missing element for me. I don't want to be in a cinema of crying children, but having the silhouetted mini dinos in a long creeper scene would have been great.
It definitely deserves to sit in the Jurassic Park series though, and is probably a good 2nd in my list of JP films (although I do wonder what those that weren't born to JP1 in the cinema think of that ordering).
My wifes review
Me: Did you like the film?
Wife: yes, it was all raaaaargh and stuff
Having extremely high expectations for this film, I still walked out of the theater satisfied. Just not as satisfied as I had expected. I won't spoil anything, worry not.
The acting in this film was fine. Not spectacular for most but Chris Pratt was fantastic as usual.
The story was decent, though there were some areas that seemed underdeveloped. Personally I'd have preferred the movie go a whole different direction. It just seemed a bit forced. Certain characters weren't realistic enough or human enough and it detracted from the story.
The effects were spectacular. Cooler than I had even expected. I really enjoyed them.
Overall worth seeing but don't expect to be absolutely blown away.
Best one since the first film really enjoyed it with amazing fx
The amount of nostalgia I received from watching this made me teary eyed at points. The first 2/3 of the movie was great, but it really kicked into full gear once it became night time!
The sequel to the 2015 blockbuster hit Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, directed by J.A. Bayona, returns with the beloved character Rexy. Expectations were high for Bayona to bring something fresh to a franchise in need of new ideas, but does he deliver? Four years after the chaos on Isla Nublar, a volcano threatens to wipe out the remaining dinosaurs on the island. A group of scientists, including former park employee Claire (Howard) and dino trainer Owen (Pratt), travel to the island to save as many species as possible, but soon discover that the team's true intentions are not as noble as they seem. The creation of a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indoraptor, adds to the already unstable situation. While the movie showcases some visually stunning moments and raises important themes, it falls short in areas such as character development and storytelling. The lead actors, Howard and Pratt, bring strong chemistry to their roles but the villains of the film are underdeveloped. The movie shines when the dinosaurs are on screen, but fails to maintain the same level of excitement when they're not. The Indoraptor is a highlight, but ultimately underused. The film manages to balance moments of levity with darker, more tense scenes, but ultimately falls short of its potential.
I remember really liking this when it came out. Maybe it was all the hype and nostalgia but now rewatching before Fallen Kingdom I'm a not as high as I thought I was. It's a decent movie and is good for some dumb dino fun but that's about it. I love some Chris Pratt but this isn't his best role. I kinda hated the kids. Bryce Dallas Howard was ok and Judy Greer is completely wasted in this movie. The CGI look good for the most part. The score is very nostalgic heavy from the original.
Yep, they went and made the same mistake ALL over again, in a good way ;)
It's basically Jurassic Park with a healthy dose of modern reality and futurism thrown into it. I love it!!!
The film is certainly a lot of fun and probably the best of the Jurassic sequels, including Spielberg’s own Lost World. It is by no means perfect, but after three sequels, there is the realisation that frankly there are limited variations of the story that will work and there are only so many ways you can run and hide from a dinosaur. In an age where the special effects that the original ushered in have largely been perfected and where any number of dinosaurs can be added to a scene, there is nothing in the entire franchise that can match the original T-Rex attack from Jurassic Park. That said, Trevorrow does a pretty good job of imitating Spielberg’s own set pieces, with plenty of fun references to the original, though this is also a detriment to some of the action beats that seem more focused on reminding the audience of these references. Fortunately, there is still a lot of tension and excitement to be had from the chase/hunt/stalk scenarios that the film throws up. The film also builds nicely on the evolution of the velociraptors and their behaviour in the franchise. There was potential for ridicule here, but the film sells the outlandish premise largely as a result of Chris Pratt’s very likeable performance, but also by making sure the raptors are still dangerous. A largely successful summer blockbuster then that proves dinosaurs can still be entertaining, but the inevitable sequels will surely suffer diminished returns given the limited scope for taking the story further.
What a great and thrilling ride! Visual effects were amazing and I liked the humor elements. Would not minded a little more scary stuff but it very much delivered action wise!!!
Loved the pace of this movie. The action wasn't drawn out. Everything was nicely in place, I think. Good to see different character perspectives and there were nice hints to sense of character as not a lot of time was made for full development, for example Zack and Grey however I did find the characters to an extent stereotypical. The effects were actually exciting which is lost on me with a lot of films these days. Plus, the music strings it all together. Nice choice of actors e.g. Jake M Johnson.
What can I say about Jurassic World? It is genuinely amazing and as good as the original Jurassic Park!
I am taken by back by how good it was in fact and it is definitely a regression movie for anyone that remembers the first time they saw the T Rex when they were 12!
Those darn kids irritated the crap out of me... Shouldve just revolved around Chris Pratt's charater imo
People queue to get in, I liked it better than I thought, is not 1, but entertains and there dinosaurs
I don't like this movie, but I love dinosaurs. Therefore, I kind of like this movie. Anything Dino related, and my eyes and ears were hooked, then the humans came on, and I suddenly turned into Helen Keller. As iconic as it tries to be, it just feels pathetic. I'm trying to be nice, but just like this movie, I'm indecisive about what I think of it. Is it a kids' movie? I'd say so, but that woman in the ocean scene, as well as other scenes, made me feel nothing but wasted potential. Just imagine if this was a horror/thriller. Jurassic World exites me, but Jurassic Park terrifies me.
tag yourself i'm the tourist making sure he grabs his two margaritas as the dinosaur is attacking
Jurassic World made little to no narrative sense to me.
What is Claire's deal?? She’s the Operations Manager at a dino resort and gets mad at one of her employees for wearing a 'distasteful' Jurassic Park shirt, even though she runs a scarier park with an even scarier new hybrid dinosaur threat on Isla Nubar? Which btw, she pitches to Verizon as a cool selling point in the beginning of the movie because the people at the resort are allegedly bored with the usual genetically modified dinosaurs they have to offer. Yet there are clearly 20,000 freakin guests enjoying the heck out of the amusement park anyway... Helloo?? I think they’re more than content!
Not sure she even had a defining character moment in the entire film. Maybe when she rolled up the sleeves of her fancy blouse and huffed off into danger in her heels? How she didn’t sink into the dirt and get eaten alive, i’ll never know.
The movie also fails to establish an authentic antagonist without a shallow cause. Like how bad was the 'bad guy' Vic Hoskins REALLY? Hypocritical dino whisperer and navy vet Owen (Chris Pratt) still worked for him. I mean, was he actually evil or just insanely stupid for wanting to create hybrids and train raptors as super weapons for the military? There was literally no logical point to any of their motives!
Overall, the story was pointless but the animatronics, cgi, and motion capture effects to create the dinosaurs were honestly insane. That’s the only thing worth lauding in this heaping mess of a movie.
BONUS THOUGHT: Dinosaurs > People … especially Claire’s annoying nephews. They should’ve been eaten instead of their babysitter
I mean, it was fine. If you compare it to any other standard movie it's easily watchable and more entertaining than average. It didn't let the Jurassic Park franchise down at all either, but I also don't think it really added much to it either. I felt like I was basically watching the first one all over again, all the same elements were in this one from the kids in the park, the guy and girl who save them who also feud a bit before falling for one another, the standoff at the end with the dinos. I mean hell all we needed was someone getting eaten off a toilet. I think in truth this is just simply one of those stories that's gone on too long so "What else can they do?" Well, apparently they'll try since there's another movie after this one already made and another coming out soon.
"Nothing in Jurassic World is natural, we have always filled gaps in the genome with the DNA of other animals. And if the genetic code was pure, many of them would look quite different. But you didn't ask for reality, you asked for more teeth."
Even on a second time viewing seeing Sir Andy Dwyer drive a motorcycle in between Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo is still such an amazing sight. Well worth the rewatch!
Anyway, Jurassic World is the start of the new bunch of "Jurassic" movies and again it starts off in a park. But this the park is open for public! I love seeing the park crowded and alive. I still love the sight of the Mosasaurus, the way Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) runs on heels, Chris Pratt being an action star and them modifying dinosaurs. Seeing BD Wong back as Henry Wu is such a great thing.
It might not be the be all, be all. But I still enjoy it and it is still the best sequel to the original and when I eventually ever return to it, I do believe I will still enjoy it.
Just the same old lazy filmmaking Pure shite!!!!
great show. i used to love watching the old jurassic park movies when i was younger and i remember when jurassic world was being released. it was so exciting seeing the dinosaurs redesigned in such stunning special effects and cgi. chris pratt also played the dino specialist super jock character perfectly. kinda a little shallow. definitely all about the action scenes and blood. 100% right up my alley.
The movie was going well, but when I heard that the teenager had a match in his pocket and was dry after coming out of the water, I had to turn off the TV.
Achieves what it set out to. IMAX 3D for proper experience
The Five Faces of JURASSIC WORLD
Reinvigorating the franchise with fresh faces, new ideas and a setting fitting for new audiences, Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic sequel is a wonderful callback to Spielberg's original, while still being different enough to stand on its own.
Chris Pratt makes for an altogether great lead, and he shines on screen together with the impeccable Bryce Dallas Howard, in a traditionally strong female part, equalling Julianne Moore in Lost World.
The two children are probably the best in the franchise so far, and actually feel like necessary assets in the story as a whole. Their roles are expanded in comparison with the children in the previous films.
The CGI is great as usual, but the film also cleverly utilizes physical effects on the dinosaurs. It's as magical as back in the first film.
The film stays true to the franchise by bringing back fan-favorite dinosaurs, but surprises by doing some new things with them. The humanizing of the dinosaurs is particularly interesting, an I'm accordance with current trends.
Some references and callbacks to the 1993 original are bound to excite fans. They are small and insignificant to the plot, but delicious none the less.
The lighthearted atmosphere in the first half of the film helps make the film feel warm and magical, much in the way the first film did.

The music has been inspired by the immortal John Williams score but is, unfortunately, less memorable.

The Final Face:
Possessing neither the industrial significance nor the inherent majesty of the Spielberg original, it was always going to be a tall order for this modern revival to stack up. It's wise to do its own thing for the most part, though nudge-grin-wink references to the first film appear shamelessly (and, often, charmingly) around every corner. And while it's fun to point and smile at the familiar scraps of a 22-year-old film, at some point it feels like the new effort is too frightened of its own merits to cast them aside.
At root, it's a simple mindless summer disaster movie with the spice of CGI dinosaurs thrown in where the earthquakes/volcanoes/tidal waves would usually go. Measured against that standard, it's still an awfully dumb bucket of over-familiar plot churn, but it feels more understandable and appropriate.
Long gone are the delicate ruminations on nature, humanity and our impending role as technological gods, cast aside in favor of more sizzle and fresh dino gimmicks. For all the trailer's promises that the new big bad is meaner, faster and - most importantly - smarter, it really doesn't seem to do all that much beyond stomping around the park and killing anything in sight. The new cast, helmed by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard (who, impressively, manages to dash through jungle and mountain in a pair of stylish heels), doesn't seem much brighter.
A fair enough way to kill a couple hours at the cinema, but be prepared for a healthy dose of eyeball-rolls and manufactured drama.
Full of thrills, Jurassic World is a fun adventure film with some interesting social commentary. The story follows two children who are sent to visit there aunt who runs the Jurassic World theme park on Isla Nubla, but while touring the dinosaur exhibits a newly created cross-bread dinosaur breaks loose and starts rampaging through the island, stranding the children out in the wild. Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, and Vincent D’Onofrio lead the cast, but the real stars of the film are the dinosaurs; particularly the Indominus rex. And the special effects do an incredible job at making them look realistic and frightening. Additionally, the script is well-written, as it both honors Michael Crichton’s original vision and poses some provocative questions about entertainment and corporate responsibility. A smart sci-fi thriller, Jurassic World rescues this franchise from extinction.
I hadn't seen the movie for a while and I forgot just how good it was.. Not the same as the originals but no remake of a title ever is but this certainly is worth a watch.
Yess! Some good 2 hours of quality entertainment. I liked the horror path it was kind of taking where the mutant dino started killing everyone and everything in its path. I hoped it would end with the whole park destroyed and him having killed most dino's, but that wouldn't make for an interesting sequel. So the ending was fine too. Although not preferred. Loved the dino action and the fear the dino caused of him escaping its cage. Only the kids should've just hidden somewhere, instead of driving off into a park full of dinos.
I wanted to give this movie an 8/10, but the story was a little cliche and all. So a 7+ seems more reasonable.
It was kinda boring , the first three Jurassic movies are much better than this.
I only watched this movie to be up2date for seeing Jurassic World 2 and I know why I hadn't watched it before. It's predictable and as usual there's so many stupid things the characters do (especially the kids). Acting is fine and it's always nice to see Chris Pratt adding some comedy to his character but in general I was quite disappointed (or it was rather what I expected).
It's "Jurassic Park" (1) with CGI and another bad story. You can only like it if you didn't watch Jurassic Park of if you enjoyed it.
So bad it's so good but this betrays entirely the original franchise's spirit. Jurassic Park's films aren't trash.
Watching this movie brought back the same excited feeling I had when I was a kid watching the original Jurassic Park!
loved it from the start!
I will fully admit I was trepidations when I heard there was going to be an all-out attempt to make a ‘decent’ and exciting sequel to Jurassic Park after the last three from the film were all truly dreadful. Much like the upcoming Bladerunner sequel I don’t think the film was called for and seemed doomed to never live up to expectations. The first and still best Jurassic film, Jurassic Park, whilst still preposterous was perfectly cast, had a driven storyline, where the protagonists seemed in genuine danger and for the most part you were never fully sure what the outcome was going to be. But that is the past, a long time in the past, in fact it is dead and buried and will never be resurrected. This film, if it achieves anything, highlights just how good and ground-breaking Jurassic Park really was.
For all its good intentions, for all the lorry-loads of money it has made, seems to have been written with two things in mind. Entertaining but not confusing those under the age of say…ten, and having lots of exciting action set-pieces and great CGI. So on those fronts it probably succeeds.
Unfortunately it also succeeds in upping the quota of horrible Hollywood clichés and poor character development.
For instance, Chris Pratt is a funny, likeable and charismatic presence on TV and now the big screen. Yet in this film all I know about Owen is he was an ex-Marine, I think, is good a wrangling velociraptors and went on a date with Bryce Howard’s character. That’s it. He does come up with the more level headed suggestions and ideas and therefore you would probably want him to die last or something but all I felt was it was a waste of great talent. Still he now has a billionaire-dollar movie on his CV and what with Guardians of Galaxy could he care less about what I think?
Talking about Bryce Howard, oh it’s the senior management, ice-queen, who has no time for family and only sees everything as figures on a Spreadsheet. I’ve never seen that before. If Pratt’s character is one-dimensional, Howard’s has no description. I have never seen her in a good role yet so I don’t really know if she is good actor or not. She does wear far too much make-up though – I mean It really is slathered on.
The two kids, who get into trouble by being utter twits, are possibly the most unlikable children characters in a film for some time and they do have some competition. I was hoping they would get eaten but I knew in my heart they wouldn’t. Talking of which why was the film so determined to kill off their handler, Irish actor Katie McGrath, in such a long drawn out and frankly unpleasant way? What did she do to deserve such attention? Listening to the talking heads on the Blu Ray extras it appears that director and ‘writer’ Trevorrow added this scene because it was the most awesome death scene in a Jurassic Park film. He described it like an eight-year, which is how he said he approached the film. See I told you made and written for small children. Whilst were somewhere around the topic both my wife and I were wondering how many pteranodons, pterosaurs and other flying reptiles the ‘flying creatures dome’ actually held. With the exciting set piece of explosions and broken glass it appeared about ten thousand flew out prompting my wife to remark ‘oh for goodness sake’.
I believed Vincent D’Onofrio was a serious actor who took his job seriously. After seeing this film, where he played a baddy who is also less than one-dimensional, I have changed my mind. Also, hoping to get the ‘raptors and use them as weapons for the military as super-weapons. Is this plot device ever going to get old?
One thing I did learn from the film is blue-collar Joe’s are lazy shiftless idiots who tend to get eaten and senior management and scientists are cold and heartless with little thought for the average person – so they probably deserve the shiftless idiots they employee. In all honesty every single storyline and character is lazy, derivative and shows a huge lack of imagination on behalf of the story writers and film makers. Considering how much they get paid for coming up with ideas and how brilliant we are constantly told they are stuff like this is hugely disappointing.
The ending of this film I take as a personal affront to my dignity and intelligence. How anyone involved or not in this film can read the scripted ending, then see the filmed ending and say, ‘That’s great it’s a wrap, fantastic, edge of the seat stuff, audiences will love it’, questions all the beliefs I ever had with actors, directors and writers, a group of people I generally hold to be imaginative, creative and more capable that I could be in three lifetimes. Disappointment just does not adequately describe my feelings.
So apart from being super-clichéd, hugely unoriginally and frankly insulting apparently this film is brilliant because it has dinosaurs chasing people all over the place.
At the end of the day Jurassic World has made billions of dollars and from the general public has received a far few ‘five star’ reviews. So another is on the way. Soon, someone is going to make a film that is just car crashes, explosions and CGIed flashing colours and it will still make millions.
Yes, Jurassic World does have a crashing, exploding helicopter in it and it is not a sign-posted event early on the film at all, honestly.
This is genuinely a hold your head in your hands movie.
Send the aliens from Independence Day: Resurgence to wipe out this particular landmark please – now.
I really enjoy this one every time it's on. I don't see how it's overly kid friendly like some say. The movie is much better than part 3.
So I read the reviews of batman superman and they are bad reviews, generally whining about silly issues, like footprints in the snow and other silly details no one cares about. Then I come over to this movie which had actual earthlings that should behave in normal reptile fashion, but they don't. I don't want to go through all the horrible points of this movie, just know I seriously hated it. The acting was bad, the writing was worse, and the physics was purely embarrassing to believe. Bottom line is, I'll never watch this again. As for batman/superman, I've watched it 7 times, including twice at the theater.
I was expecting more from this movie. Some scenes are pretty cool, but movies are not made from some cool scenes, when the plot seems to repeat in pattern. Rated to "meh" because I felt meh, when I loved the 1st Jurassic park.
i'm calling that : a remake of the first movie. a very very very bad remake. same rules, same screenplay : children, love story people to save in a park and a very very bad dinosaurus, bigger than the T-rex (and too many special effects... too many...). no soul, no emotion in this copy. a "pop corn movie" done just for money... so so disappointed...
Complete rubbish. I'm gonna do right away and reduce may rating to a 4. And I thought No Good Deed was bad!
What a SPECTACULAR movie! I loved it from the beginning all the way to the end! The nods to original movies were pretty great as well!
When I first heard about the movie I wasn´t thrilled that much. Just what we need - another sequel/remake/reboot.
So what about this ? Well, since the technology to make this movies is readily available (you just have to pour enough money into it) I will not take this into considaration. Just this, bigger isn´t always better and it doesn´t have the magic of the original. The rest of the movie is in my view a carbon copy of Jurassic Park. They even copied whole scenes - I guess they call it homage.
It has entertainment value, more so for the younger generation who didn´t know the first I´d say. And that´s OK. After all nobody forces you to watch If you don´t like it. I think for me to watch the next one they really have to come up with something new. I don´t want to watch the same movie over and over again just with better CGI.
A fun movie. There's some who say Jurassic World is just the first all over again. I am not sure what movie they saw though. Since there's some dinosaurs that weren't in the first and ideas that weren't seen in the original movies.
For instance; I like that Morton (Vincent D'Onfrio) wants to use trained raptors as weapons of war. I also like the fact that there's even trained raptors in this film to begin with.
Jurassic World is easily the best of the sequels. Which isn't that hard to accomplish when the second had a raptor killed by gymnastics. While the 3rd just felt rushed with not enough of a story.
Not that bad. I mean, was fun, despite the bad script, very predictable story and the hot redhead running with high heels with a T-Rex on her back which she incredibly outrun, was fun. Any way, good special effects no doubt, I have to give it that, but still, not as good as the first one (the original).
The Park is Open, this movie was amazing all around.....just brilliant
I must agree with most comments here. The reason i gave this movie a 7 is because of the cgi effects an the sound effects. Good Camara and a very sharp picture. But please whats with this story and this dumb slogans? I thought in times of such good series like mr. robot, breaking bad, and so on where you have a great story great actors these hilarious stupid conversations and storys should already be dead for good . but these movie proved me wrong. Maybe its made for a younger audience.
The note that the mother was giving their two children before the flight, this was when i realized its going to be one of these movies. Special Effects and great sound but nothing else really.
The beginning was fine until i would say this thing broke out. Just switch of your brain after that and use your eyes and ears.
I really thing they spend 99% of the production time on making the CGI, Camara and Sound and 1% for the story and the acting.
So be prepared for whats coming if you are watching this. And one more thing. If something hunts you run! Ohh my god now i did it myself. See the bad influence of such horrible movies on my every day living :).
If you got a good equipment at home try it out and wait for the neighbors to come knocking on your door :) .
The ending was pretty cool.
More teeth, fewer ideas?
It seems to always be the same, the magic of the first less!
I love this movie so much.
I watched it in the theatre as well a this and to my point of view it was the best one of the franchise yet.
What a fun movie this was. Great action sequences and several nods to Jurassic Park throughout the movie makes this an absolute must-see if you're a fan of the franchise. Chris Pratt is excellent in this movie as well.
I couldn't shake off the feeling that the movie is it trying a little bit too hard. It confirms every stereotype of a "family blockbuster", which simply makes it too predictable.
Disappointing. The visuals were nice and there were some good moments, but overall it doesn't live up to its name.
Good movie. They make comparisons throughout, same plot, protagonists and obviously theme. Tech is better but that is a given. Still enjoyable and creepy for the same reasons the original was,
Godzilla Bad, Mothra Good. You Know?
Indeed this was more a family film with PG rating than anything else. Not bad necessarily. The CGI was very good
average movie.
unnecessary sequel.
made go back in time; not to the original movie but to the mega drive game :D
dammmm... those heals lasted all movie... and on all surfaces...
Well done special effects pack back to the franchise ;>
Jurassic World = Jurassic Park
I felt nostalgic :) full of wink about Jurassic Park ! A movie did by a real fan of Jurassic Park !
it's a great movie. it looks really real. the dinasours too.
Really enjoyed it. Took a youngster to the movie, and the "Handy bitey" scene was a bit much for a younger kid. However, it really was a pretty good movie. I did think it looked like everyone had a bad spray tan though.
very good movie I like this hope for more :)
It is amazing, entertaining and spectacular.
Jurassic World had some really good moments, although it didn't give me the same thrills as the original one. Having said that I still think it was a worthy sequel.
My kids are going to love this one! Heck, so will I :)
