Apparently colonialism is A-OK if you're a white woman or a non-WASP defrauding white rich folks and polluting the Amazon.
Nice virtue-signalling, Di$ney.
A fun flick if you go in with zero expectations. I feel as though each main character was held back either by writing or direction though. It definitely could have been more tightly written though I did appreciate some license being given to expand on the mythology of the film.
Another soulless movie from the soulless mega corporation, not funny, bad cgi, shit story, nothing good to see here …
Disney: Hey, Women are strong and they can be heroes to...
Me: cool Disney, I already know it, I grew up with strong females in games, movies, comic books but thanks for emphasize.
Disney: Look, look, Women are so strong that they can use pants and the society go nuts!
Me: ahm... yeah... i know it, good for her to stand up for her right to use pants
Disney: Aha! gotcha you! the man is the one who takes a lot of luggage to the trip! you thought that it was her luggage!
Me: actually... no, you already establish that the she is a strong and no "superficial" character and the brother is full of frills
Disney: Look, Look... even the man in the boat thinks that she wearing pants is strange, even one of the main characters is a little male chauvinist
Me: ok Disney, i got it, let me watch the movie...
Disney: OH MY GOOD LOOK AT THAT PUNCH SHE JUST LANDED AT DWAYNE JOHNSON!!! Could she be anymore strong of a character?!
Me: ...
Disney:* Oh her Brother isn't JUST full of frivolous taste... he is actually gay and her sister is THE ONLY ONE INTHE WORLD who accepts him!
Me: But the boat man accepts him too and ... I get it, he is full of frivolous tastes and hes gay ... wait a minute... this isn't kinda of a "gay" stereotype? would be better if he was just a..
Disney:Shhhh the movie is rolling, look how strong of a character She is! omg.. so amazing
Me: ...
Disney: Hahaha she is SO STRONG that she declines the invitation to the science academy and...
Me: OK DISNEY, I GET IT. please let me watch the movie without you shoveling this in my face! I acknowledge that she is a strong female character since the beginning and.. oh... the movie ended...Damn it. Next time, just shut up and let me enjoy the movie, I know how to recognize a strong female character!
It starts off with a style that makes you think of Indiana Jones, but it's actually a lot worse: Special effects that leave much to be desired, adult characters that behave like children, a really silly "villain", ... And when the movie's real plot is finally revealed (towards the middle) it's sooo stupid that it makes you laugh. It's like a bad joke that it is intended to be taken seriously. There are much better adventure movies, don't waste your time.
Dumb yet fun, right in line with all of Disney's other offerings of late. Blunt is a treasure, Dwayne is charismatic if a little clunky, and neither Jesse Plemons or Paul Giamatti are campy enough to reach into the list of great comedy villains. Just good, nothing to write home about but not bad either. The definition of a Sunday lunch movie.
“When you have The Rock on a jungle adventure movie, nothing else matters.” That’s what Disney had written on the cards when they decided they didn’t need a good story, just copy old ones and change a little bit. But, unfortunately, this movie is not an Indiana Jones, it’s is not The Mummy, it is not The Pirates of the Caribbean and it’s is not that last Jumanji movie. It tries to be all of them, but it fails. It’s 40 initial minutes have great fun and Emily Blunt is amazing has always. But then has the boat starts to sail for the adventure, and the energy starts to fade. You are left only with the potential Disney Park ride of the movie, probably a renewal of one of the old ones from the Pirates, but where at least the characters will not be in CGI.
All the people who grew up writing fan fiction are now old enough to peddle their craft in the big leagues. We're seeing it a lot with most modern movie trends and they practiced their craft taking other ideas and putting their imaginative spin on it. We could argue of course Lucas and the like did the same with their franchises but I would argue they just took the art/story structure before them and wrote their own stories and characters. Now we just see people taking the stories and putting their own spin on them. This is the next version of this terrible trend in modern movie pictures/tv shows. I want the writer's strike to happen again and for them to not come back.
All of the things it borrows from are better. It was in desperate need of a Captain Jack over Jack Whitehall to help paper over some of the more generic aspects. The sound design was impressive even if the CGI - so much CGI - was a bit bland. The chemistry between the two leads was fine, but it had been overhyped and it's not as impressive as some of the pre-release chatter had implied. Overall, a decent enough way to kill two hours on a Sunday afternoon but instantly forgettable.
It's okay... but I didn't appreciate pairing Emily with Dwayne. The guy is a fun performer yet not a good actor, and the chemistry between both was embarrassing.
Appreciate the effort yet not impressed with how the movie was concluded.
Nothing new, cgi in large scale. Disney making money with Jumanji remake's, what else.
I long for the days where cgi was only used when it was really needed. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i claim this film for the gays. that is all
Okay, sure, various parts of this one were done better by an archaeologist, a mummy hunter or some pirates, but taken as a whole, it's still pretty solid if you ignore the weak and formulaic script and the cut-rate CGI that should be beneath a Disney effort. (The mummy movies, for example, did it better some 20 years ago.) It scores as well as it does with me because of the thoroughly likable and fun main two characters (and Johnson, in particular), along with the way that the production as a whole evokes the sense of a Saturday afternoon matinee adventure, which is something that will ALWAYS bring a smile to my face. The resolution is a bit too Disney for me, as well, but what can you expect? So yeah, I SHOULD be grading it lower, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Pros:
Fun family movie, visually beautiful. Awesome sound. Pretty common plot but still fun to watch.
The camera work is amazing. at some point in the submarine the camera moves a little because the boat is floating left and right.
Cons:
Dwayne’s character saying pants and lady all the time. Just call her one or the other. Or just by her name.
When Emily’s character first goes filming with her camera all the sound cuts since these cameras didn’t have a microphone back then.
Later after the waterfall scene the camera is picked up again but now the background music still plays?
That rock song during the 300 years ago flashback. What the fuck?
7/10
I'm not sure why I feel so let down finally seeing Jungle Cruise: it clearly said it was a branded Disney production, and if that doesn't generally stand for bland I'm not sure what else does. Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson are such charming and likeable actors I guess I thought somehow they'd be irresistible and soar despite their chains.
Alas! They are in fact charming and likeable, but this thing has a lot of inertia. Blunt is clearly dressed for Indiana Jones, though the movie can't get over how outré she is for being in trousers at all, and Johnson, when he isn't busy wrestling his massive backstory, is as affable as ever. They are given cute characteristics - she can do anything and breaks things, he can do anything and tells groaner Dad-jokes - and together they are very pleasant, but someone along the way forgot to make room for characters to pin them on. Ultimately, as charming as they are, they're just guests on this digital-effects cruise.
The plot is silly, the villainy is E-V-I-L, the gags are pretty good for what we've got. That's all fine, honestly, it was part of the package going in. (Except for the waterfall bit, which gets a hard "no" from me, but then I haven't been on the ride so what do I know.) Honestly, I think the only thing between this pedestrian a-little-too-long film and a deft, light-hearted classic bit of family entertainment is enough flexibility to let the stars shine properly. This feels like a tick-the-boxes show, and there's too little room left for the human side of the ride. It's not a dreadful film, but it is a botch, and given how much I was ready to like it, that really is a shame.
I had such a fun time watching this! Yes it was sometimes cheesy or corny but that was part of the charme and the movie did so fully knowing what they were doing. The chemistry between the main cast was great even tho it's a bit strange to see The Rock in a romantic way... It's like Indiana Jones without the sexist bs plus lgbt representation. I didn't mind the cgi, in IMAX everything looked great.
The characters in "Jungle Cruise" are one-dimensional, lacking depth and complexity. Emily Blunt's character, Lily Houghton, is a strong-willed and determined scientist, but her arc feels forced and her motivations are not fully fleshed out. Dwayne Johnson's character, Frank, is a charming and charismatic riverboat captain, but his backstory and relationship with Lily feel rushed and underdeveloped. The supporting characters, such as Frank's crew and Lily's rival, are also underutilized and fail to add any real value to the story.
The action sequences in "Jungle Cruise" are also underwhelming. The film relies heavily on CGI, which detracts from the realism and immersion of the film. The action scenes are also overly choreographed, and lack the sense of danger and excitement that one would expect from an adventure film.
In terms of pacing, "Jungle Cruise" suffers from a slow start and a rushed ending. The first act of the film feels like it drags on, with too much time spent on set up and not enough on character development. The final act of the film, however, feels rushed and rushed, with the climax feeling underwhelming and unsatisfying.
Overall, "Jungle Cruise" is a disappointment. Despite the star power of its lead actors, the film fails to live up to the adventure and excitement that it promises. The pacing is slow, the characters are one-dimensional, and the action sequences are underwhelming. It is a forgettable addition to Disney's catalogue and fails to live up to the legacy of its source material.
The Rock in the Jungle, great thing. At least there are no doors where he always has to bend over.
A fight with a tiger? He would certainly do that with ease!
A good film to watch with the family.
Adventure movie in the jungle, like the old ones.
NOTE FOR MYSELF SO I REMEMBER SOMEDAY, ONLY REPRESENTS MY OPINION/THOUGHTS FOR MYSELF NOT A “REAL REVIEW“, SO YOU PROBABLY WONT AGREE WITH IT
(also its not my 1st language)
5.5
-pretty boring, didn't pay too much attention
-story idea wasn't bad but could've been better executed
-music was annoying, felt like wrong choices/didnt fit the particular scene
-pretty unnecessary movie
-the jaguar was cute tho
Another movie where Dwayne Johnson is a lame guy, but then something happens and then he's the hero. Don't waste your time.
This movie is so over done and the story is complete crap.
It is not a good movie, it is a waste of Blunt's talent, because it turned out to be such a Disney adventure chaff with a poor sense of humor and CGI.
Man, Dwayne Johnson sure loves jungles and grey clothing.
Well if you are expecting a history lesson, not this one. Also, if you are expecting something less campy, wrong place. It's not Indiana Jones because Dwayne Johnson is not Harrison Ford.
If you want a little bit of light hearted fun, fantasy and okay to watch with kids, or even as a light hearted adult that doesn't want too serious, fun fantasy, with a bit of female empowerment, this is great.
BTW, if you have girls or boys that you want to grow up respecting women as they should, the story is going to give them that.
I enjoyed it. It could have been better but it‘s definitely an entertaining adventure flick.
This movie is in the same level of quality as the third and fourth installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Yeah, that bad, but still good enough to play it in the background while you do another thing or watching with your family and or your kids. I should`ve watched it while playing Terraria or Factorio.
It still made really well and you can see the level of technical quality of the work, but the plot feels really lackluster without adding anything new to the plot. Only watching you can understand how PoftC this movie feels. It also has the same "vibe" (to lack of a better word) to Wild Wild West (1999), but somehow worst because that one was at least somewhat original, similar to Scorpion King (2002), similar, too, but also, worse than The Mummy (1999) triology.
Give it a try if that type of adventure movie is for you. But if you didn`t like any of those mentioned, keep it away like a plague.
Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mummy were two of my favorite movies when I was younger. The vibe they were going for with this is obviously a combination of both. How it turned out? Mwoah, it’s OK, but The Rock proves ones again that he’s not that great of an actor. He’s not transformative enough for the Jack Sparrow kind of character… You’re always watching The Rock. Which can work, but not in this.
The story is exactly like you’d expect, an over the top adventure story with way to much CGI. Prince Joachim accent is just terrible. As is the whole character. Also, the whole British, foolish, spoiled brother bit gets old REAL fast. Oh, and he’s gay too. Don’t worry, that ‘spoiler’ has no impact on the story whatsoever. He just is. Just because.
Don’t expect too much of it, and you’ll be fine. You can easily grab something to eat or go to the bathroom and not pause it while you do it. You will still be curious how it ends. That counts for something right?
Couldn't even get to the end. Boring AF.
I kept expecting to be disappointed, but I wasn't. At no point did I want to turn it off and watch something else. I know that's not necessarily a compliment, but it certainly isn't an insult.
It's a fun movie with fun action and fun dialogue. It's mostly surface-level, unfortunately, and very derivative. Like a lesser Pirates of the Caribbean mixed with a lesser Indiana Jones. And yet, I don't regret watching it. The cast is good, the action is good, and overall, I'd say that (aside from an interesting music choice partway through the movie) it was pretty good.
Emily Blunt & Dwayne Johnson Were Truly Fantastic In This Movie - A Disney Joy Ride Turned Into A Movie With A Great Story & The Perfect Cast
Never A Dull Moment In This Movie - It Has This Indiana Jones/Jumanji Feel That You Can't Help Yourself But Laugh - And I Loved The Feel And How Colorful The Movie Was - It Truly Delivers On Being An Entertaining Movie And It Ends With A Smile - If You Haven't Seen It You Should
This movie was entertaining and for a lazy Sunday with the family is definitely something that can pass the time and provide some great entertainment value. I was quite surprised to see Jack Whitehall in something this big and he did okay!
However as everyone has said it's REALLY trying hard to just be so much like Pirate of the Caribbean and launch another franchise for Disney. Plot lines are just too similar structurally.
Enjoyable as a one time thing however and if it does well which it likely will maybe some sequels could offer some decent different plots if they don't stick too much to the POTC formula.
6.5 / 10
The story is ok, just a treasure hunt movie with the pretense of becoming a franchise like Pirates of the Caribbean. The CGI was pretty bad specially on the cat sidekick . overall I like but is forgettable. if this movie was made to a more mature audience, WITHOUT the CGI villains it would be a great "uncharted (the playstation game)" movie adaptation. Hopefully they use this movie as a guide on how to do scenery and how NOT to do CGI
A run-of-the-mill treasure hunt movie held together by the charisma of its leads. Emily Blunt, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Whitehall and Jesse Plemons cease the moment whenever they are on screen. Mindless plot, decent humor, sub par CGI and loads of exciting scenes make up for a stupid but fun movie.
A fun movie, but not WOW. CGI needed some work, the plot was slightly confusing with too many threads, and the Rock says “Lady…” way too many times. It was a bit too long and the dialogue needed some fixing. Lot of Disney tropes as well.
Solid movie, reminded me of national treasure. Combined with pirates of Caribbean. See worthy if you want a fun time. Not too rewatch able though. But do recommend if you're a fan of the Rock. He's seriously doing amazing in films don't think I've seen him in a truly bad one yet. Keep it going rock.
Movie: 4 out of 10. Dolby surround sound: 6
Another Jumanji clone, the characters are Ok, but the script is really simple no deep history just a trip with a lot of CGI. Better keep original and remake Jumanji for real adventure
Pirates of the Caribbean meets Indiana Jones.
Nice try, just entertaining, not a masterpiece.
Just another disappointment. If they have money to spend on the CGI and the good actors, why don't they spend some of it on a good writer? But looks like a story no longer sells a movie. This felt like it was written by someone who heard about Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribean (just heard, not seen) and they tried to make something similar. And failed at it. Not even Dwayne can save this mess.
If Holywood will continue like this, there will be no point at all even to bother watching anything that comes from there. Trash upon trash with more trash on top. Really sad.
The Rock (a Samoan/black dude) as a Spanish Conquistador stuck in Brazil for 400 years (yet speaking a perfect English with an American accent) might be the least appropriate casting choice for him yet, and shows just how much the gap has increased between Disney's concern with milking the cash cow over crafting an engrossing story. Then again, the guy has already played an Akkadian warrior and a Greek demigod, so it's probably fine... hell, he could probably have been picked for queen Elizabeth instead of Helen Mirren and viewers would be none the wiser.
Apparently if you're an American actor playing a different nationality, keeping your native accent is tolerated only if you're the hero, as evidenced by Plemons and Giamatti doing their best cartoonish rendition of German and Italian. Then to waste no time giving off any semblance of immersion comes the completely unnecessary CGI cat, the film's epitome of the writers' lack of creativity.
They were obviously going for a Pirates of the Caribbean feel with hints of The Mummy (English brother/sister find a mysterious artifact leading them on a dangerous adventure to a mythical land, recruiting a strong "American" dude along the way to guide them...), or maybe it's the other way around. Either way, they failed to take heed of whatever made those franchises fun and thrilling.
To be blunt its just a bit of a waste of Emily's talent
To me this was great entertainment. A really nice rollercoaster of adventure with healthy dose of humour and fantasy.
Dwayne Johnson is indeed one of my favourite actors these days and he makes a good performance as the somewhat crazy riverboat captain which is (a lot) more than he seems.
This movie is meant to entertain and nothing else. I am quite happy that, despite it being a new Disney production, there’s really not much in terms of woke bullshit preaching in there. A little bit rubbish, especially at the end, but it’s bearable. Maybe Disney has learned the lesson as to how much that crap actually hits the bottom line.
The movie is really a non-stop (almost) rollercoaster of action a ‘la Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider but with a more humorous slant to it. Some people complain about God knows what from the music score to the jokes to the camera movement to whatever. It’s a movie that are just supposed to entertain from start to finish without having to be deep, realistic or delivering some sort of message and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rather the inverse actually. It was great to just disconnect and watch the adventure and action.
As I said, Dwayne Johnson did his role nicely as the riverboat Captain, Frank Wolff, but most of the rest of the main characters was quite okay. Sure, Frank’s jokes were cringeworthy but then, they were meant to be. MacGregor Houghton was at times a bit annoying but at times quite hilarious. I quite liked when Frank threw his ridiculously large luggage overboard although it was of course quite predictable.
The weakest character was probably Prince Joachim who was mostly silly. He wasn’t far out enough to be a really noteworthy crazy psychopath but not “normal” enough to be taken seriously.
If I should complain about anything it would be that the manoeuvres that wreck of Frank’s performed was, well, not very realistic although it was not as bad as that “handbrake turn” the idiot script writer wrote into Battleship. That one pretty much ruined the movie. Then, there’s also no way the Amazon river is deep enough for a bloody submarine.
I watched this movie with my kids and girlfriend and we all had a really good time watching it.
waste of my time. very bad story.
Faithful to the ride with lines from it. The Jungle Cruise isn’t Indiana Jones but it’s fun, like the 1999 Mummy movie.
Wtf is this movie? How disrespectful to the history of Brazil. With a budget like that... how they made a script that is totally disconnected from reality?
I'm usually not one to slam on a film just for the heck of it, but did anyone else feel that the Visual FX for this movie were really substandard? The cursed Conquistadors had the quality of Van Helsing era FX, and the tiger looked like something out of OG Jumangi. I tend to hold the House of Mouse to a MUCH higher standard than I do other movies, but when your big Disney mega-production boasts CG that is only SLIGHTLY better than a Sharknado sequel... I find myself more than a little disgruntled. Sorry, Dwayne Johnson... but this one hits Rock Bottom.
This film was lacking. First off, it was too slapstick and unserious. I realize that it was a Disney film, but they really went overboard w/ it. Second, it would've been served better had the film been about 30 minutes shorter. It really dragged at the end. Third, there was no need for Jesse Plemons character, and they should've chosen a better male lead than Dwayne Johnson. Had they written a better script and found a better male lead, they could've done something along the lines of The African Queen. Of course, it never would've measured up to that film, but it could've been done in the same vein. Unfortunately, they went in too many ridiculous directions, and the story couldn't support it.
For what it's worth, I thought this was pretty decent. I expected it to be much worse.
It tried hard and failed to be like Pirates, but at least it was way better than Haunted Mansion.
emily is too beautiful! and their chemistry?!
6.5/10 - A cool and fun adventure. It's entertaining but IMO it's "just" and adventure without deeper meaning/messages, etc. (apart from showing that women are awesome and there was a lot of injustice in the past (and unfortunately also in the present)).
I liked the visuals (cinematography and CGI) as well as the sounds (and part of the soundtrack).
The CGI doesn't look photorealistic but that seems to be the point and I liked it (not sure how to describe that artistic style but it felt a little bit cartoon-like).
And I guess German nazis are still popular in movies? I'm (as a German) a bit tired of that but then again nazis aren't (over)used that much anymore. Hearing those German and English accents in the OV is funny though :D
Is it just me or there is no chemistry whatsoever between the rock and blunt.
A fun movie, but only this.
The movie can be fun, but is a typical generic movie that you see several of the same, it has good actors, it's directed very well, I have a problem with the photography, that one has the "Breaking Bad" standard, when the characters arrive in Brazil is applied the classic yellow filter from "Breaking Bad" that is applied when any character is in Mexico, passing a sensation of dangerous place. That movie is produced very well, but it doesn't is a memorable thing.
As Brazilian, some things annoy me in the movie, all Brazilians speaks English fluently, includes indigenous, only 1% of the Brazilian population speak English fluently (I don't consider myself fluent), but The Rock that live 400 years in Brazil speaks perfectly English and doesn't can speak a phrase in Portuguese. Another thing that annoy me is Brazilians characters speaking in Spanish, this is an offense to Brazilian people. But if you don't is Brazilian, no one of these problems will annoy you in the movie.
This movie has everything I should like in a movie: Disney, The Rock, pretty visuals, animals, adventure…but something doesn’t click for me. I found it often dragged, and I felt bored and intrigued all at once. Will it work for others really well? Sure. However, I’m not those people and I struggle to recommend it.
Rating: 1.5/5 - 6/10 - Not Recommended to Everyone
The movie is incredibly long, it gets boring after a while. Also, the movie resembles other movies.
1-Indiana Jones to resemble...
2-The Mummy (1999) to resemble...
the beginning of the movie was boring,it started to get a little better towards the end, but that couldn't save the movie.I think the movie is Indiana Jones clone...
I couldn't finish watching this. It went from "just okay" to "absolute shit" really fast.
Fun action flick, nothing special though.
COULD have been an all time great for Disney IF more time and money was spent on the CGI side of things. Many aspects looked wayyyyy too fake. Still enjoyable, but I think they missed out on making a classic here unfortunately.
Jungle Cruise is yet another schlocky Disney film contrived from one of their amusement park rides. The story follows a scientist who seeks a river guide to take her deep into the Brazilian jungle in search of a mythical tree with extraordinary healing powers, but hot on her trail is a German prince who wants the tree to help Germany win World War I. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramírez, and Jesse Plemons, the film has a pretty solid cast, but the script is terrible. And once again Disney gets on its political soapbox, which is annoying as all get-out. But what’s even worse is the gratuitous and unnecessary use of CGI. Still, a lot of the comedy works and makes for some fun scenes. Yet while it has its moments, Jungle Cruise is crazy mess.
This film is essentially the Brendon Frasier Mummy franchise transplanted into the Amazon rainforest but with a healing blossom instead of a deadly curse as the main characters' motivation. The character dynamic is exactly the same in the main group - a buff man has to deliver a scholarly, dedicated, and capable woman to an ancient forgotten temple alongside her idiot, comic relief brother. Nevertheless, for whatever it lacks in originality, it makes up for in fun.
Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson make a fun duo and even Lily's idiot brother McGregor grows on you by the end of the film. Although there isn't much as far as character development and the CGI ranges from unbelievable to downright silly, the film does successfully deliver on its promise for a swashbuckling adventure, giving it around a solid 7.0 in my book.
The film does contain a slightly obnoxious amount of feminism, as well as a hilariously portrayed gay character. As said before however, the sheer enjoyment of watching Jungle Cruise makes up for all of its faults.
I don’t care what the naysayers write, we loved it! And even if it had whiffs of blockbusters like Pirates and Indiana Jones, we still had a blast.
Episode 10x05
Jaume Collet-Serra's latest for Disney is an ode to youth adventure films, comparable to what 'The Goonies' or 'Pirates of the Caribbean' were in another generation. Made with a lot of love and dedication, it makes you feel like a child while you watch it. If you can see it with your children / nephews, surely the fun will increase whole.
Jack Whitehall out here channeling his father. Fun lighthearted movie. Doesn't really take chances to reinvent the genre but you know what, that's Ok. I'm sure I'll watch this a few times.
It is not a great movie, but it is fun to watch if you have nothing else in your watchlist.
Acting is what you would expect from The Rock. CGI is not terrible, but dissapointing if yoy take into consideration this is not only a Disney production, it is a big bugdget production.
Story is weak. But I since the source material is a theme park ride, I guess there was not much to be done.
Research was non existent. Even with the levels of suspention of disbelief this kind of movie requires.Everything about Brazil and the Amazon was pretty much wrong. I mean, they could at least had the currency right.
I was at least expecting to be entertained by a B-grade indiana jones type. But in 2021, this means over the top stunts, bad CGI, terrible acting, cartoonishly vivid colors and obnoxious music. How can anyone above 15 year old enjoy this is a mistery
A movie in search of an iceberg! Its not completely worthless but this isn’t as fun as it could have been. The leads don’t have chemistry, the script is just weird, and there’s nothing to get the pulse racing on the adventure front.
Enjoyable film, but a bit unoriginal.
So damn boring. Couldn't get to the end.
A movie inspired by an exhibition ride… hmmm? The obvious attraction was Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. The story line is purely incidental. An entertaining way to while away two hours and seven minutes. I give this film a 7 (bit of fun) out of 10. [Fantasy Adventure]
Has its moments, but they are far too rare
Mediocre, super formulaic Disney movie with low budget CG that breaks immersion on a regular basis.
this was fun... Dwayne is so funny..
modern indiana jones or mummy or pirates..whatever you want...
whole packed family fun movie..
PICTURE 5/5
STORY 4/5
AUDIO 4/5
ACTION 3/5
COMEDY 5/5
overall 4/5 - hope for UHD release :innocent::blush:
Had to abort mission after 15 minutes. Just cannot stand the Rock and the way Disney turns this kind of story into a complete joke.
Not worth the time wasted on this film.
Once Disney is done using the cliches of greedy conquerors, dangerous Indians and effeminate men, you can enjoy this adventure in which Indiana Jones meets "The African Queen" (1951). The attempt to resurrect the classic adventure has to face some really mediocre CGI and it is frustrating to see Emily Blunt trying to find some chemistry with Dwayne Johnson, among so many Hollywood/Spain stars so little bright.
I swear the story is all the POTC movies and all the IJ rolled into one film . But glad to see they incorporated many elements of the ride into the movie
Repeated story but funny movie to watch with friends
This was a decent watch, but why are these movies so long? Actually looking at it, it’s only a little over 2 hours but it felt long, I don’t know. Also, all I could think of when they brought out the snake person, the bee person and was it a mud person? Anyway all I could think of was, would this be any worse off if they were just like regular conquistadors? And my answer is, no, so why bother?
Disney gets by with sticking really gross 'pirates of the Caribbean' bad guys in and some incredibly inappropriate sexual (homosexual) comments in describing giving another man a 'wiggle' and more detail in this knock movie where the rock tries to be Indiana Jones on a boat. Some of the dry 'dad' humor is funny, but the movie having two main 'bad guys' and driving a submarine in an amazon river is a bit unrealistic, even for this type movie.
Latest attempt to make Indiana Jones again. So far, only Brendan Frasier's Mummy is the only one that I can remember that came close. This doesn't do the trick. It also is no Pirates of the Caribbean. However, I liked the action sequences which were done well. Just don't think about the story too much. As much as I like the Rock, he was not the right guy for this role. He just has no chemistry with Blunt. I couldn't help thinking her real husband might have been a better match.
 that was sure something
loved the big murder cat
Pretty good movie. I for one was not disappointed.
I was disappointed, It wasn't as fun or good as I was expecting.
Loved It! Sometimes what we've already seen works extremely well. And Dwayne Johnson with puns is the best thing ever.
It feels the purpose of the movie was to built new disney world attractions or reboot pirates of the Caribbean, not terrible but not worth a cinema visit
I liked it. It had a bit of a nostalgic feel. I also liked that it wasn't another princess movie.
Indiana Jones and the Tears of the Moon
Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson (or do I call him The Rock?) have good chemistry, which helps while watching a story unfold thats been told before.
regardless, it kept my attention until I fell asleep
..
Guess kids will enjoy it..
Lot of fun. Enjoy with a good Disney. Seen on theater. Ready for a second play with VOD.
It's fun. But it's full of needless cgi bombast. In my opinion it has nothing that's worse watch it more than once
A fun romp, a bit spoiled with too much “girl power” leading men around.
this was really fun movie and the chemistry between those two was really good and i enjoyed it! i honestly don't know where they'll go from here and that makes it even more interesting.
Jungle Cruise is...interesting.
In some ways, it's a mindless but fun romp in the jungle with The Rock and Emily Blunt. In other, it's just a cliché ridden mess.
I have to admit that I laughed quite hard at some parts of this, but shook my head in disbelief in others.
So...Jungle Cruise is very hard to place, as I'm not really sure if I enjoyed myself or not. The safest way would be to condemn it as mediocre and go on my way. However, since I'm a fan of mindless fun, I'm going to say if you like stupid adventures like The Mummy, this should be right up your alley. Don't blame me...I tried to warn you.
Wonder if they are going to try to make this into a franchise...
How the hell did I watch all of that I don't know !
Amusing and enjoyable ride through the jungle.
Emily Blunt is funny throughout.
