I'd say this is quite a weird movie and if it wasn't for Robin Williams I wouldn't like it that much but thankfully he's in this movie.

Classic! I love you robin willams.. you live in your films...

Never seen it until today. Still a good Movie even if the SFX are outdated, seems like a timeless Classic.

One of my favourite films of all time! Robin Williams is perfection in being the little boy who has been stranded in the jungle for years. The perfect mix of action and adventure, with added comedy!

Maybe the special effects have aged a bit, in the end they are far from today's CGI, but Williams and the young Dunst are looking good. Jumanji is a classic of the 90's adventure cinema.

Not everything works, like the ending for one. The reviews aren’t as good as they should be though, by critics. Since they found it too scary for kids. Which was a poor excuse not to like it.
The newer movies have better reviews but this one has more imagination. The sequels/reboot are just good for laughs.

Great movie, never getting old classic!

I must have seen this at least a dozen times on TV but I don't ever recall seeing the very beginning and end. So a full rewatch before the new movie coming out was necessary. I still like Robin Williams a lot. He is they best part of this movie. Some of the effects look pretty good for 1995 while some seem pretty dated. Overall a great kids movie and one I always will remember from my childhood.

I usually like family movies from the '90's; they're what I grew up on.

I grew up around Monopoly, Sorry!, Clue, etc.; so much so, my friends used to call me "the king of board games".

I'm a longtime fan of Robin Williams; I loved him in Flubber, and I've been a Mork & Mindy fan since my mom first showed it to me over two decades ago.

So, you'd probably think I liked this movie...but, I didn't.

Instead of being exciting and thrilling, it felt too much like a horror movie; the profanity and bullying didn't help matters.

If it hadn't been for Mr. Williams' death, would they have made a sequel? One wonders.

if you wouldn't play jumanji don't talk to me

Jumanji is a wildly exciting and thrilling film from director Joe Johnston. When two young children find an old board game in their attic they become part of an adventure with perils and wonders more fantastical than they ever could’ve imagined. It’s a very creative and intriguing story that’s quite impressive in its scope. Featuring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, and David Alan Grier, the cast is pretty good and does well with the material. However, the CGI is poorly rendered (even for the time) and can be distracting. Yet Johnston is able to keep the film moving with riveting action sequences and interesting set designs. Despite some of its cheesiness, Jumanji is a remarkably entertaining and edgy film that’s very ambitious.

A true classic. No one has done, or will do it better than Robin Williams. RIP.

Definitely a must watch, only potential flaw in my eyes is the effects work

Your standard "kids find a haunted board game in the attic" jungle adventure. All sarcasm aside, Jumanji merits points for dreaming up a fun, simple formula that allows for all sorts of unexpected mayhem without completely losing track of reality. A little mysticism never hurt anyone, I suppose, apart from the random lady who was just stung into a coma by a roving band of gigantic, bloodthirsty mosquitoes.

Robin Williams is a good choice for the lead, pairing his rough, burly figure with a boyish charm, which makes him both endearing to his young costars and physically appropriate for the action scenes. He doesn't have a lot of room to improvise, though, which is a drawback, and the ambitious special effects have aged very poorly. Hammy supporting work from David Alan Grier doesn't help the cause, fitting right in with the slow stream of hollow secondary characters, though Jonathan Hyde does deserve positive marks in a limited villainous role. It tries to reach for substance and heart, but in the end this one is just a simple slab of watery, kid-friendly action with an unusually good hook.

It's alright... Nothing particularly special though. A bit ridiculous, but worth watching if you intend to see the 2017 sequel.
