What a waste of a star studded cast. This felt too long at the 81 minutes it runs now. The story is so crazy that I didn't even really try to understand what going on besides revenge. The action is meh. Don't waste your time unless you are looking for something bad to watch.
Honestly, it's a good adaptation, but it lacks a lot in character development, Act 2 should have been more elaborate.
If there's a reboot someday, I hope they cast this cast, but I don't think Warners is interested.
Not bad at all. Just a good adaptation of Jonah Hex. 8/10
The only part that didn't make me yawn, was the dialogue between Jonah and his former friend, Turnbull's son. And even that wasn't exceptional.
Not the first time I've watched this but I had forgotten most of it. It's an entertaining movie, and that's about the best that can be said for it. At times the lighting was too dark to really follow the action sequences but apart from those few scenes, the rest of the movie was "entertaining". This is one where you have to disengage your brain and just enjoy the show; it's based on a comic book, folks, so you're not going to be riveted to your screens here but it wasn't a "bad" movie. It was fun, good-guy-vs-bad-guy-western sort of way, complete with a two-bit saloon dancer wearing a bustier throughout the film. I mean, you're not going to see Academy Award-winning material but it really wasn't a "bad" movie. Just allow your IQ to drop by about 3 points while this one is rolling and you'll be fine. I will say, however, that for such a cheesy comic-book-based movie, the acting was surprisingly fresh and didn't seem (for the most part) to be "phoned in." John Malkovich, as always, delivers platinum here; his character as Turnbull was great. And Josh Brolin, as Jonah Hex, was great as well. My biggest issue was the story itself…but as I've already mentioned, it was based on a comic book character so I wasn't disappointed because I wasn't expecting anything stellar going in. Bottom line: if you can deal with silly-to-the-point-of-being-ridiculous storylines and you don't mind disengaging your brain for an hour-and-a-half, this may entertain you. If you're expecting real drama or anything that comes across as a modern-day "western", you'll want to skip this one. This is a comic-book story. And it's fun.
A film with the main motive of "They killed him and He escaped" in a western style. Poor copy of "Wild, wild west" movie.
Based on a DC comic, Jonah Hex is a supernatural western packed with action. Rogue bounty hunter Jonah Hex is conscripted by the Union Army to help stop a former Confederate general bent on seeking revenge. Starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich, and Michael Fassbender, the casting is fairly decent; however Fox’s role is completely superfluous. Hex makes for an interesting character, but most of the film is filled with supernatural and futuristic elements that just don’t work. The script's also problematic, and is full of clichés and tropes. Yet even with all its junk, Jonah Hex delivers some strong action sequences and is entertaining.
Ok movie...6.5/10. Shoot 'em up film.
I enjoyed this movie. Worth a watch.
