It was alright, nothing special
This should have been the season's finale, not the pilot.
I know I'm using the spoiler tag, but really, SPOILERS.
Karnak "loses" his power without them really being explained for people who have never read the comics, Medusa gets her head shaved to save costs on the sfx, and Lockjaw gets put to sleep to save on sfx once again. Maximus should have been ploting in the shadows for the whole season, not 5 minutes.
That being said, I loved Anson Mount as Black Bolt, and Iwan Rheon is his perfect counterpart. The rest of the cast was pretty good too, but most didn't get their chances to shine yet.
This show has a lot of potential, lets hope it doesn't get wasted.
It shows promise, and like Agents of SHIELD, I'm hoping it'll grow into a more well-rounded series over time.
However, I do think the IMAX thing was a mistake. Presenting it in that format creates certain expectations in the audience around visual presentation which the pilot of a TV show can't live up to. Even knowing what it was going in, I felt unsatisfied with the experience. And given the price of an IMAX ticket vs watching it on TV, I can't help but feel like I've been ripped off. Hopefully Disney chalks this idea up as a failed experiment.
I don't want to come across too negative, though. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, which I'll watch regardless.
