Lots of mystery and intrigue in this movie. I’m not sure the premise behind the premise is plausible but Natalie Dormer is superb in this and she has also has a writing credit(Kudos). Anything else I say may spoil the experience for the next watcher so I’ll leave it there. I give this film a 7 (tense) out of 10. [Thriller]
Begins well, with a strong sense of mystery and some decent camerawork. Sadly, it falls apart around the midway point, and leads the viewer down too many blind alleys.
Natalie Dormer co-writes and stars in the gritty crime thriller In Darkness. When a blind pianist with a dark secret witnesses the death of the daughter of an exiled Serbian war criminal she gets caught-up in a deadly power struggle. Dormer gives an incredible performance, and the supporting cast is pretty strong as well. Additionally, the film does a good job at building intrigue and suspense. However, the plot can be a little hard to follow and some of it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Still, script issues aside, In Darkness is a compelling and intense drama.
I’m really loving all that Natalie Dormer does. She’s got a certain edge about her. Movie plot was surprising. Didn’t see the ending coming at all. Really quite good.
Not blind. Not freaking blind @#$@
98 minutes of an intriguing thriller that throws everything away in the concluding 2 minutes…
Superb acting from Natalie Dormer, but it doesn’t survive the screenplay/directing, which inexplicably takes us into Sofia’s private life —where you would imagine she might casually lapse— but absolutely does not. It actively lies to the audience.
Do rate this quite highly (7?) for performance from the leads, but overall it concludes poorly so my rating matches.
Frustrating that most critic reviews focus narrowly on nudity and not the sinkhole in the plot.
Nonsensical movie with cheating script twists and that in the end turns into total stupidity
This movie surprised me... Enjoyed all the twists - didn't see some of them coming pun intended. ;-)
I may have to go back and watch this one again.

I have no idea what to make of this movie. It was really interesting up to the point they had sex. That was so unnecessary and illogical. Why did he make sex with Sofia when he clearly was in love with Veronique ? Seems like they wanted desperately to have a sex scene in the movie.
Anyway, after that the movie went downhill fast. Too many twist, a conspiracy, no one really is who he/she seems to be - just too much. It became confusing, less would have been more.
And if the big twist at the end really is that she can see, then the whole movie makes no sense. If you'd analyse everything she did under the assumption she sees, there would be numerous big question marks.
So, first half good, second half bad - that's a neutral 5/10
