I loved the movie, but the ending was pretty unsatisfying. Which they showed a bit more of what happened after she 'decided' to live, instead of just ending the movie the moment her eyes opened. Although it leaves room for a sequel ^_^
First, I congratulate once again Chloe Moretz for the outstanding performance in this film. She has grown every movie she does. She is already a great actress with a potential that will only grow. Second, the great soundtrack of the film. Have I made a point of acquiring it and listen to it again.
About the film, just fantastic. Relationship family and boyfriend, even though the film has more studied the relationship of Chloe's character with her boyfriend. On the question of giving up on life or not. Another issue that was very well addressed. To see a movie more than once, and to be completely interpreted.
I've seen the film before, but the second time around came off even better, and yes being a big softy and all.. I cried my eye sockets out again.. ha
Good writing overall, giving the story a genuine feeling but the abrupt end ruins the whole buildup and ultimately the movie (for me).
But then again, you could argue that the movie is about all the relationships, not about one love, one couple. However, that makes me question the amount of flashbacks this movie had to tell its story. It would have been better to have some of those as a natural progression but then we wouldn't have had the drama of losing our heroine and no emotional pressure to follow the movie along... As I said, overall the writing was good but it still has some issues and rough edges all around in terms of details.
I don't know how i missed this over the years. Very good touching and beautiful movie that will make you consider a lot about your life. Once again Chloe gives a solid performance. Big fan of her
Now,I have to admit,I did cry.Not a lot,but still.
I did not like the ending,that was not fair.Now,they're gonna make a sequel right?If I Stay,second one's Where She Went(sense it's based on a duology).
All and all good movie.
I would have said that it's great but it just didn't pull me in enough,it didn't really get me to think but it was not bad,not at all.
Started as an interesting concept and just descended into bland. The "love" story running alongside was particularly woeful.
Mireille Enos and Chloe Moretz do stellar enough jobs, without being familiar with the source material the ending I guess needs talking about so it kinda suggests if she is rejected from the prestigious college she joins the family in death? a very random outlook indeed .
Chloe Grace Moretz stars in the romantic drama If I Stay. Based on a novel, a teenage girl named Mia Hall has an out-of-body experience after a car accident and has to decide whether to fight to hang on to life or to let go. The story is incredibly cliché, and the characters are all one-dimensional stereotypes. Also, the romance is shallow and formulaic. Yet Moretz gives a fairly good performance, and the storytelling adds an element of intrigue. Though it has a few bright spots, If I Stay is a mediocre film that’s pretty by-the-numbers.
This was a good and entertaining movie. My wife played it for me, and it actually turned out to be a good movie that sucked me in.
The movie was kind of good, almost like “Your lie in April". But the ending is just so ABRUPT that it completely ruins the entire buildup of the movie.
The plot itself is good, but the story is poorly told, I don't quite like it
Good movie with great Chloe and nice music. 7.3/10
The music in the film is perfect, I wish that the band trulys existed.
Good cast, well performed. Mireille Enos always gives a standout performance. I didn't think I'd seen Chloe Grace Moretz in anything, but was aware she is a new IT girl and worthy of a watch, but now that I've looked over her filmography, I see I've seen some of her other work. I was looking for a good romance with good chemistry, and it is that, but the script is weak and the dialogue is poor. None the less, I've given it a 7 (good) out of 10.
Live For Love indeed!. sad movie although if they removed Vintage Point movie theme it will be very sad.but nonetheless sad movie and tremendous act especially by Chloe Moretz every time she lift up to my hopes,at every movie she grow!. and loved the soundtrack and that last song even more.
Is so great. I don't have a word to say about this movie, because is amazing! It's so wonderful, deep, splendid. It has become one of my favorite movies. It's too much!
I couldn't fully watch it. Boring.
nice teenage love story, just unoriginal.
Como le hacen esto a un cristiano t.ttt
that ending made me 10/10 annoyed ha...
loved the soundtrack , a really touching movie

The name Chloe Grace Moretz begins to be well marked in the Hollywood film industry. This young woman not only has performed side by side with big stars but also worked with directors such as Martin Scorsese and Tim Burton. She is not just another pretty face, she is very good at what she does. The biggest reason I wanted to see If I Stay was precisely because of her name being involved in the project.
If I Stay is based on the young-adult book with the same name, written by Gayle Forman. In here we follow the story of the sweet Mia Hall, a 17 year old who suffered a serious car accident that involves her whole family. Mia falls into a coma and in an out of body experience she is able to follow all the anguish and pain of her family and friends at the hospital where she is in a critical condition. While watching this in real time, Mia takes us to remind events throughout his life, through the memories that marked her the most, while fighting forces whether if she wants to stay or not.
Despite being in a category that is already saturated, perhaps because it is a genre labeled by standard always addressing the same issues around adolescence, this film manages to do a little more than that. We will find all the dramas of insecurity, new discoveries and love that are often present in this type of film but in a very solid and mature manner.
If I Stay does one of the best approaches to teenage love I've ever seen in cinema! Sincere and real, and even with some clichés involved the story remain very truthful and always manages to make us believe that the love of the characters is genuine. The film explores what is to love in every way, not only the love between a man and a woman but also the love of a father, a mother, a brother, grandparents and also friends. All the sadness that surrounds the story is illuminated by good memories throughout the film, turning when you need all that heavy atmosphere into something lighter that will sketch smiles. Since Music is also one of the themes addressed, the soundtrack is very good, joining Rock with Classical Music.
All the characters are very nice and we can connect with each of them. Each actor perform their roles in a pure form, especially Chloe Grace Moretz that already proved many times that she can do solid performances and in here it was no exception, an absolutely touching performance.
I think the only thing that damaged the film a little was its duration. It could easily have been shorter and some scenes are repetitive. We could perfectly remove some of them and the message would have been strongly delivered without the presence of some unnecessary scenes.
If I Stay is undoubtedly a touching film full of emotions with a beautiful message that can be seen by the whole family.
