I Still Hide to Smoke 2017

If you want to see what's beneath the veil, no place is better than the bathhouse. It's perhaps the only place in a strictly religious society where women can let their hair down, both literally and figuratively speaking. "I Still Hide to Smoke" shows a cross section of Algerian Muslim women and teaches us that, above all, what these women are is human. A strong recommend for my part.

Like a play paced around human conversation, this is a chatty, rough as life is film. Shows women under an ultra conservative regime, defining society. Super cast of women in an Algerian hammam, full of the things that cannot be spoken outdoors and that twist in the end. And an evocative last image.

Here's a review I largely vibed with. https://thepanoptic.co.uk/2017/10/01/age-i-still-hide-smoke/
