I.S.S. 2024

Just a good simple thriller that is not over budget and dragged out. This film gets right into the plot and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entirety, as it follows the group of astronauts at the ISS made up of Russians and Americans who notice what seems to be a war breaking out below, and after receiving a coded message from both countries chaos strikes into the plot. The characters are well casted, for the most part, and the plot twists are great. What was not expected was the humane message that it gave of how important it is as a human race to be there for each other and not let politics get in the way.

This is a “b” movie so surprising it even made theaters.

Nothing special. Terrible ending. If you never watch this, you ain't missing nothing.

To set the record straight, this movie is nowhere near "Woke." It deals with some of the issues covered authoritatively in the movie, "Judgment at Nuremberg" and several others, namely, when and why should you disobey orders, who can you trust, etc. Nothing new here. Just pretty fair entertainment.

Interesting premise, great cast, awful execution.
To put it bluntly - it is a waste of time.

The only thing woke about this is it features the usual checklist blesbian in order to receive funding. Other than that a decent drama, with a thought provoking ending.

It's not enough, that if someone wants to avoid the woke-screamers, you have to stay off social media, but one can't even read reviews as you lot keep misusing the bloody word. You are poisoning everything.

If a movie isn't 100% cast by Caucasian heterosexual males, doesn't mean it is woke. We are not in the 1950's anymore.

And this movie isn't great.

Wasted potential. The premise was good, they fumbled the execution.

Like a knife floating in outer space: suspenseful, unpredictable and with a point.

This chamber piece thriller about what happens between Americans and Russians on the a International Space Station when a war breaks out between those peoples on earth is written on the cutting edge of a sharp blade.

With a cast that is universally strong backed by solid directing, I.S.S., like zero gravity, won't let you down.

I could predict everything that was going to happen in this movie except with what happens to the American astronaut and him coming back, but just the coming back part . It's a very meh movie.

Why does he feel the need to apologise for assuming that she was in a heterosexual relationship, and why do we does she forgive him for his ‘mistake’?

My point? There’s no need to go woke. :persevere: Other than that the film is okay. Enough tension and drama to hold you for 95 minutes

It's good. Coulda been better, but still good.

'I.S.S.' gave me enough. I do think it could've been paced better and had a bit more intrigue put in there, though what's produced is satisfying. The titular set looks nice and the zero gravity comes across as convincing, while the sound design et al. is all positive.

For me, the cast are very solid. It perhaps could've done with a true star performer as no-one stands far and above their co-stars. Ariana DeBose is more than solid, she is the best of those onscreen; albeit narrowly so. Masha Mashkova and Pilou Asbæk are decent, as also are Chris Messina and Costa Ronin.

Nothing spectacular evidently, though this release is a perfectly watchable sci-fi flick. I'd recommend it.

a suspenseful study on the limits of nationalism in the face of overwhelming disempowerment. I appreciated the LGBTQ representation, and appreciated where the ending eventually ended up, but i fear it fell into the same trap as Lord of the Flies: assuming that people don't inherently want to cooperate. Scientists, in my experience, are the first to ignore arbitrary commands if they serve no practical purpose, and thinking everyone on board wouldn't just have a group meeting where everyone shared what they knew the surface governments were saying was a tad unrealistic to me. Subterfuge and distrust is an easy plot device though: it makes for good drama. I just think the writers could have pushed this in a more compassionate, yet still compelling direction. Either way, it scratched my "realistic space-faring" itch.

This has to be a movie which seems good on paper, but doesn't work in reality. The fight scene in zero gravity was just awful, and it is painfully obvious that the actors are in harnesses every time they are "floating".
Also it's full of stereotypes like "oh this guy seemed like a good guy but actually he's going to backstab everyone".

Talk about waste potential!
The trailer is a magnet, the story felt good but nothing more in execution and a horrible ending. "b" movie category that was fortunately 95 minutes long.

It was an ok movie. Kind of a B thriller.

7/10 good

A good simple space thriller on a very small budget, the acting is fine, the tension is on going to the end, the only true distraction is the outside special effects which for the budget are fine.
Y was there’s the sense of feeling that it’s maybe a little far fetched, but it still remains just about believable lol.
Will I watch it again?
No not really, but it’s still worth a watch all the same….

Probably not the best time to have a movie about tension between Americans and Russians. Entertaining enough though I guess.

How did this Movie even land on my radar?
Oh yes.. Masha Mashkova played a role in one of my favorite TV-Shows: For all Mankind.
But this Movie.. give it a miss. Definitely a waste of time. The ending is terrible and the fight scene is really awkward.

I thought this was going to be filled to the brim with propaganda, but it shockingly isn't. It's cool to see space movies being different from the stereotypical, 'person being lost'. The soundtrack and score are extravagant, maybe a little too much, I expect godzilla to jump out at me. The story was a decent mystery, so if your detective or slow burn tingles are tingling, this is for you. Every space movie I expect has to have insanely good visuals. This didn't. Although the cinematography is cool. The acting is acted, the length is lengthable, and the information wasn't informing.

I have wanted to see this since I heard of it months ago. Didn't get the chance to see in theatres so finally saw it home tonight. Honestly the negative reviews are right. This could have been so much more than it is. Some good elements and I'm a big Costa Ronin fan from his work on The Americans and Homeland so was looking forward to how this got fleshed out. Too many shakes of the head w the choices they were making. I think I still liked it more than the avg watcher, but ends up a 5.4.

Funny story, the movie screen turned off 20 mins in and i had to move to another showing and rewatch the first 20 mins. The beginning 20 was promising.

Look the concept is great and for the first half, it’s entertaining, tense, and interesting. The last act does get really silly though and didn’t care for the ending. Their is a fight scene in here that was visually very bad and unintentionally funny. This movie isn’t trash but it’s not going to be one that I ever need to revisit.

not original or thought-provoking (as I assume it was meant to be?) but saw this in theaters and had a good enough time.

I’ll have to give it a second watch just to be sure about my rating. I just got home from the movie theater. Movie wasn’t bad, not great. It really could’ve been executed better.. have many questions. There were many plot holes. I was just confused on what was going on for most of the movie.

Dont get me wrong, the cinematography and CGI were outstanding. However, some moments did look on the lower scale. On a budget on IMDB with $20mil, it definitely could’ve been on a better on a bigger budget.

I just wish there were likable characters. When both parties know (USA & Russia) know that they’re at war and they have to take control, I can’t imagine what they were going through and scared to take the first punch.

I will be rewatching again when it hits iTunes or streaming service. This movie doesn’t deserve another rewatch in theaters.

This was unfortunately pretty middling and I would say not worth bothering to go see at the theater if you're on the fence. Season 2 of For All Mankind covers similar ground in terms of the activity up on the station and it does it much better.
