I'll Be Home for Christmas 1998

My favorite Christmas movie, I love it

I'll be home for Christmas is a surprisingly decent film. Sure, it's silly in parts and JTT's character makes some weird decisions, but overall - I've seen a lot worse.

Well intentioned Christmas film, just a little undercooked.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas is the lead of 'I’ll Be Home for Christmas' and he's pretty good, especially at playing the cocky school kid. I feel his arc is satisfactory, though it would've been nice if there was a longer spell of him realising/correcting his behaviour.

Still, I feel there's enough in there to justify the (predictable) happy ending. I, also, like the road trip elements. Elsewhere on the cast, a young Jessica Biel appears as Allie. She's solid, as is Adam LaVorgna as Eddie. It's also noteworthy to see Gary Cole involved.

It's nothing impactful or anything, but it's fine festive viewing.

There’s not much Christmas spirit or Disney Magic. Jonathan Taylor Thomas plays Jake, a con-artist college student who’s lies get him in more and more trouble as the movie goes on. Yet he never stops.
You would think he would at least help the boy who wants to be home for Christmas. Instead it just makes him want to call his girlfriend (Jessica Biel).
Jake does some nice things but still does mean things after for personal gain. Just to get home in time to get a Porsche from his father (Gary Cole). He doesn’t learn much and is a self-centered unlikable kid.
