Typical Liam Neeson movie.
Decent afternoon watch if it's your thing.
If you miss it you won't be missing much
If you love Arsene Lupin, there is a chance that you enjoy this another timekiller movie. . There are a few gaps in the scenario but it is ok, just watch and pass without expecting any robbery scenes or exaggerated action moments. Liam is Liam as always, nothing more nothing less. 6/10
A pretty generic if slightly lazy action-revenge piece. It's got some good tension. It flows well. You watch a lot of cheap movies that look terrible. This at least looks good. There's a clear narrative. This is an excellent no-think option for movie night or not changing the channel while you're cleaning the house. It's basically everything you expect and surprisingly PG-13. It didn't feel like they tried hard to keep it PG-13 like Sony's Venom movies.
Pro: One more movie with Liam Neeson as "the action hero"
Con: One more movie with Liam Neeson as "the action hero". And it's a late one, with a silly plot.
"The same procedure as every year!"
Feels like I've been watching the same Liam Neeson movie for the past 10 years
Typical Liam Neeson movie, bad. Maybe a 5/10 if I'm being generous. Should've known though.
I was expecting the typical Neeson actioner. Forgettable but enjoyable. But this is by far the weakest Neeson actioner ever, with a scenario only an idiot who has never seen an action movie would greenlit. Complete waste of time, don;t bother, even if you like Neeson actioners
The usual Liam Neeson movie (how can one person keep making the same movie over and over again and they are all hits?!). This one doesn't have a train anywhere in it, so this makes it a bit different from the others. For some strange reason it kept me interested in the movie even though you could drive a truck through the plot holes. If you've got nothing else to watch and you're up to date with the Fast and Furious franchise, then have a look at this. 4/10
Really? You just gonna say "Your partner gave that tape to me" to a maniac? Anyone in their right mind would know, that maniac would immediately try to kill his partner after hearing that.
For giving you solid evidence, i can't believe Tom snitched on Anthony like that!
That's the one thing that bothered me. Other than that, it's a fairly good one. Intense movie.
Liam Neeson just stole 90 minutes of my life! This is average at best, and a waste of his talents.
Having given the plot some thought, I still think that trying to come clean when no one knows who the in and out robber is makes no sense whatsoever.
Tom is just too good to be true!
Wow! I have a fault that I need to see a movie till the end if I started it. But this is just so terrible that I had to stop. Liam is as expected, but most other actors do a terrible job. If it's the script or their fault doesn't matter in the end to me. Terrible terrible movie.
It's Liam Neeson doing what he obviously likes doing most and what he does well. If you look for anything else you're in the wrong place.
There was 0 chemistry between any of the characters, and it felt like each person was talking at the other characters, not to them. Not horrible for a mindless action film if there were only more action.
Liam Neeson is 68 years old. And just got out of the military 9 years ago in this movie? And fell out of a second story. And I have already seen this movie. If it were titled Reverse Taken.
It's a mindless action film. Nothing overly bad to warrant not watching it, but nothing really stands out to warrant watching it.
The Honest Thief is another typical Liam Neeson movie that delivers what you would expect. It's an entertaining action movie with a plot that feels like a mix of Taken and Equalizer. The action sequences are well-executed, and the plot is engaging, but it doesn't offer anything particularly new or original. It's an entertaining action movie that Neeson fans will likely enjoy, but it doesn't bring anything new to the table.
This was just bad. Could not finish it.
Good entertaining movie. Yes if you look hard enough there are holes in the story line but all in all I enjoyed it.
Honest Thief is a rather rote Liam Neeson crime thriller. The story follows a former bank robber who tries to go straight and turn himself, and the money that he stole, into the FBI; however, when the agents attempt to kill him and steal the money he goes on the run and has to find a way to clear his name of the frame job that the agents have setup. Neeson gives his usual performance, and is backed by a solid supporting cast that includes Jai Courtney, Jeffery Donovan, and Robert Patrick. And the fight scenes and chases are exciting and intense. However, the plot is formulaic and by-the-numbers. Yet while it has its weaknesses, overall Honest Thief is an entertaining action film.
Well, this was certainly a novel and interesting way to tell a love story xD
It got just a bit annoying to see John Nivens get away with all of that for so long (he didn't get temporarily suspended, bugged, his partner didn't come clean, etc.). It also kinda sucked that his partner Ramon Hall died. He was obviously guilty as well but he didn't deserve to die.
A bit to cliche and not enough true to life. But it's Liam Needing so it was good anyway. Really the casting was the best part of the film.
Not even a thriller, bit of a disappointment. Story was plain and lineair.
Yet again, Liam Neeson is definitely not Brian Mills, in definitely not another Taken retread.
This man is going down hill.
Not too picky what movies he's in anymore. Going the way of Stevie Segal and John Wick. First couple movies great. Now suck maximus. In for the money only I guess. Quality no longer a factor.
Hopefully there’s a sequel with Nicholas Cage.
If you like Liam Neeson, you'll probably enjoy this. The story itself is tired though. Bad guy trying to do the right thing for a woman. Corrupt FBI agents preventing him from doing so. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda.....
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
If you've never seen one of the half-dozen Neeson movies that ape the first Taken, then don't start with this...
As a standalone with no reference, it's a generous 7/10. An action movie that ticks the boxes - a basic plot, some action, a payoff.
If you need to watch Neeson in something other than Taken, it's difficult to recommend this. He looks too old to be pulling this stuff now. It's looking like he may go the Seagal route soon and rely on doubles and fast edits to trick the viewer's eyes.
As generic as this is, Jai Courtney still manages to stink up the screen. He seems to be channeling some leftover Terminator vibes.
And it's a shame that my man from Burn Notice doesn't get more roles these days. Sad to see him used well but in a nothing movie.
All said and done, it is what it is.
6/10
I'm sure the comment typical "new way of movies-taken" Liam Neeson movie is relevant here, and basically for any other movie like that.
No chemistry between them at all. Really bad choice of actress for his partner. Liam looks too old here and maybe it is time to stop.
No point saying anything else, if you want watch it, if not, nothing new to miss.

Current IMDB Rating :star: : 6
If you have been a fan of Liam Neeson, from the likes of movies like Taken Trilogy, Commuter, Unknown, Non Stop you will feel that Honest Thief is another version of his type of action spectacles. Mark Williams has created another engaging action thriller where Liam as Tom Dolan wants a second chance in life and how he is denied the same. Honest Thief unlike other action flicks of Liam has a tinge of emotional quotient which remains persistent and acts as proper motivation of Tom's actions. The screenplay develops in slowly in the first half and Liam goes all Taken mode in second half.
The action choreography looks legit and the performances are convincing. The movie has the right amount of juice for its audience to stick till the end untill justice prevails.
Liam Is a pro and he eases into Tom's skin perfectly , Kate's performance was a little unconvincing still she manages it throughout. Jai Courtney is outstanding and delivers well. The Screenplay is fast faced in the second half so please sit through and witness Liam handles things his way.
Goods and PG :
Engaging , Good Action Choreography & Liam Neeson
No Nudity, Family Entertainer
:white_check_mark: Overall, Honest Thief has predictable premise, nothing outstanding but Liam Neeson make this a decent watch.

In the end the police made that face for him to say goodbye to her or he will let him go?
I love Liam, I hate Kate. It's like they put the best in acting and the worst together. I wish Liam was given the kind of movies his talent deserves...
Pure crap. Time wasted. Don't watch it.
As an actor, Liam Neeson means everything he says. He's the action star as alchemist, converting trash into…well, better trash.

(well said)
I'm not sure what happened here. I went in expecting to really enjoy this as I have other Liam Neeson films, but I just found it to be slow and boring. I'm genuinely surprised at the amount of praise it received on IMDb, even if it wasn't overly huge. It felt easy to assume this was a flop to most. My idea of what could have made it better? Tom confessing to his girlfriend before attempting to turn himself in, and her suggesting if he's so good at breaking into banks then he should just put the money back instead. She could have helped and bad guys could have gotten after them at some point. Far more interesting sounding than what it was!
It’s COVID...nothing else to watch. If you need something to pass time, watch this movie.
A bad movie all around. The acting is very poor, especially from the main actors.
Jeffrey Donovan is probably the only actor that I liked in this; Robert Patrick too, but his run was cut short in this arc. Jai Courtney was also not bad at all.
The story is surely the weakest point, the characters have no depth, no intelligence either. It's not just about suspending disbelief, it's just illogical writing and a main actor who can't fill the shoes of the character that he's supposed to play. Also, bad CGI in the few occasions where it is used.
I think the last movie I watched starring Liam Neeson that I actually liked was The Grey, at least it's the most recent that I fondly remember. Everything after has been a mix of bland, cringe, bland & cringe.

Imagine a nation with only 3 FBI agents and a city with only 1 cop. You'd think there would be worse crime there than this script, but you'd be wrong.
The ridiculous stretches made in this screenplay suck all of the fun that could possibly be had in this predictable yet stupid outing.
