This is supposed to be the same Kevin and Marv as the first movies and they seem to have a history (which I assume is the first two movies) but how? Kevin is 9 in this one and 10 in the earlier one… makes no sense. Didn’t help that this movie was just really really bad anyway.
This sorry excuse for a movie is an utterly diabolical, shameless travesty; an unforgivable insult to the franchise, particularly the excellent first Home Alone movie, that it has unsuccessfully tried to recreate. Having already been cloned twice, each time worse than their predecessor, you'd have thought that it was time to stop milking this plot drier than it had already become. But no, they had to flog the dead horse one final time.
No child actor could hope to match the pure class and acting talent demonstrated by Macaulay Culkin in HA1, and to a lesser extent HA2. Mike Weinberg isn't even in the same league. This is probably not his fault - he was only a 9-year-old boy that was the victim of terrible film production at every level. Even Culkin (at the same age) couldn't have stopped this from being a steaming pile of plagiarised donkey droppings. Which raises another question - how is Kevin McAllister 9 years old in this movie when he was 10 in HA2? And the actor used to portray Marv isn't the same one from the first two instalments?
Do yourselves a favour and avoid this at all costs. Watch HA1 or HA2 if you want a Home Alone fix.
Save yourself ! Life is too short to waste time.
Wow... What did I just watch?? Lazy writing and directing to its finest... I cannot wrap my head around the fact that they decided to use the McCallister name but changed EVERY actor from the original first two movies... Come on! This is stupid. I didn't enjoy Home Alone 3, but I least they made the effort to invent a new plot and characters. Having Kevin McCallister not played by Macauley Culkin is just idiocy... And Marv... This wasn't Marv... I missed the first actor who played him so badly.
More so, why would the children not know their new stepmother considering they are living in the same city? Why would a couple of days spent with their dad at Christmas be so hard since they are in the same freaking city? Kevin being home alone needed to happen for the movie to work, but God, that was not the way to go... The device doesn't work!
The ending... I wanted to throw my phone at the TV! Oh honey, you've been sleeping with another woman for 8 months and wanted to marry her, but sure I'll take you back the second you say it was a mistake as if you haven't been screwing that mistake for months now... It was so dumb... It might be a kid movie, but that doesn't mean it has to be so thoughtless...
The only reason I gave it a 2 out of 10 instead of a one, is the plot twist of who is the real villain. I was not expecting that at all. That was well played. Although it might be because I was too distracted by everything bad in this movie and had completely given up hope of a good plot...
The story of the McCallisters continues with a whole new cast in Home Alone 4. With his parents in the middle of a divorce, Kevin chooses to stay with his father and his new girlfriend for Christmas and runs into his old nemesis Marv while he’s casing the house. The new cast isn’t as good as the original; particularly Mike Weinberg, who has none of the charm or charisma of Macaulay Culkin, and French Stewart is a poor substitute for Daniel Stern. Following in the mold of part 3, the humor is all in the slapstick; which is all over-the-top goofball shtick. And what dramatic heartfelt moments there are come off as artificial, with no substance to them. Home Alone 4 is a desperate attempt to revive a series that is long past its prime and has no magic left to it.
this was not even funny, I watched this with my 6years old who got bored, we finished it the following day but it has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Well, If you are going to watch Home Alone with your child pick 1,2 or even 3 but not this one. It is too childish, even child may bored.
I wouldn't let you sleep in my room... if you were growing on my ASS!
me before destroying the DVD

This exists . . . for some reason. :confounded:
Child actor playing the role of Kevin doesn't even remotely resemble Macaulay Culkin in the role. French Stewart playing Daniel Stern's character, Marv, has a completely different vibe.
At least in the 3rd movie and the one made after this (again, why does that one exist?) they had the sense to make the characters different.
