Holler 2021

Surprisingly good, understated story of American quiet pride, endurance and perseverance while waiting for politicians to stop putting everyone else first. An American success story of family and individualism. Four and a half stars.

Bleak and gritty, with a twinkle of hope and aspiration, Holler is a stark look at the under supported mid-drift of America; the plight of it's people and the oppression felt by those of under the poverty line. Some cutting points are made here (political figures using said communities problems as talking points while doing nothing about them, as well as the migration/loss of industry to other economies) so go in expecting a tough watch. Enter with the right headspace, and Holler is a difficult yet rewarding slice-of-life; a window into the life of the forgotten. Good stuff.
