I knew Lightfoot from my childhood - my parents would occasionally put on his records. My parents had an awful taste in music so I never really paid him much attention. This documentary really opened my eyes. There is an urgency and intensity that I can't recall hearing in another folk artist.

A very good documentary that shows us how unique Gordon Lightfoot was to music and Canada. Geddy Lee said it best, "He sent the message to the world that we're not just a bunch of lumberjacks and hockey players up here. You know, we're capable of sensitivity and poetry and that was a message delivered by the success of Gordon Lightfoot internationally." Now that Gordon is gone, it leaves very few musicians who can write songs about Canada and put it across in a way that everyone can understand and enjoy.
