The best Star Trek movie of all time; that's how you do it JJ Abrams.
Never give up. Never surrender.
Rest In Peace Alan Rickman
By Grabthar's Hammer, what a movie! One of the best films of the last 30 years and still holds up today. The parody element is spot on without being overindulgent and every joke hits perfectly. If you've not seen this film already, then remedy that immediately!
Insufferable. There are few things I hate more than a film that goes for satire and meta-commentary while being so low brow that I can feel it wriggling uncomfortably beneath the tread of my shoes. Absurdity I can appreciate; this is just insipid. There's no interesting parallel with Star Trek; it's just one long train of shallow sight gags and unsatisfying attempts at Shatner send-ups aimed at the easiest to please lowest common denominator ST fan, who presumably bark like a chorus of seals in recognition of their being pandered to.
An occasionally funny space adventure that parodies Star Trek, Trekkies, and the convention culture. With such a great cast, I was actually expecting more. Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver needed more to do and even though I'm okay with Tim Allen, his Shatner-like ego wore out its welcome.
A movie that works on all levels. The story, acting and special effects are all top notch. This is as close to a perfect film as you can make. A classic for any fan of film.
I know! You construct a weapon. Look around, can you Form some sort of rudimentary lathe?

So much fun! Just an underrated spoof.

Simply epic. It works as a sci-fi adventure tale, a brilliant comedy (that doesn't rely on bathroom jokes or "humorous" stereotypes) and as a love letter to sci-fi fans. It's a genuine treat and holds up to repeated viewings even nearly 20 years after it was released.
You have to be a trekkie to get the humor of this movie. And for those who get the humor, this movie is hilarious. It plays on all the Star Trek stereotypes. It's fun, well written, and the characters are great.
A cult movie about a cult TV show that has a cult following - it's like Inception! This has a unique and simple plot, a great cast (I miss Alan Rickman!), and some brilliant comedy moments that play upon Sci-Fi TV shows of the past - notably Star Trek. Good stuff.
On first sight, this is a SciFi movie, but on a second look it turns out to be a movie about SciFi fandom too. It's very entertaining to watch stars of a SciFi show, that aired decades a go, with their fading fame, and it's hard not to think of Star Trek TOS and William Shattner and Nichelle Nichols, who basically made careers out of this. These people (the characters as well as the real ones) now basically live of the fandom, and they may even look down on it and the fans.
This is something the movie avoids. Sure, they poke it a bit and have some fun with it, but comes across as very goodhearted, because in the end, the fans save the day. Together with the obvious stabs at the sometimes crappy and plot-device heavy SciFi show writing (chompers, anyone?), it makes this a very entertaining movie for SciFi fans.
I'm only curious how much different the R-rated version would have been, and if it will ever see the light of day. In the mean time, we will have to make do with what's there and enjoy the little hints of it, like Sigourney Weaver clearly not saying "screw that" when faced with the chompers.
One of my absolute favorite movies. Being a Star Trek fan, it lets me laugh at/with Star Trek without belittling it at all. Every actor is spot-on. The whole movie just gets everything right.
In space no one can hear you laugh.
I don't really like slapstick and even less when it's as predictable as space dust in a vacuum.
A movie I can go back to over and over and over, smiling each time through.
Ellen Ripley dies her hair and looks hot as fuck after escaping Lv-426 to avoid the lawsuit from the destruction of the peaceful community of Hadley's Hope
Almost been 25 years since I first saw this in theaters. Dunno why I haven't rewatched it sine, because it still works as a great "Three Amigos!" in space comedy.
Anyone remember the days when Tim Allen actually gave an effort to be funny?
Also, good lord I forgot how gorgeous Sigourney was in this movie; 50-years-old, but looking as damn good as she did in Ghostbusters.
I always forget that Galaxy Quest was my first introduction to Justin Long, Rainn Wilson and Sam Rockwell.
"It was cute when I didn't know you." Yeah, Tim Allen has that effect on people.
Satires, in their excellence, are the easiest humor to create because they always rely on references. In this case, it is no different - its power is always limited to considerations about the previous work and does not create anything. Although, on the human side of the work we see an even greater worsening.
The big advantage here is the sensational cast maintained by so many good actors that the cheesy jokes manage to work excellently, accompanying the tension of the narrative.
It's a good film, I only recommend it to Star Trek fans.
I had so much fun with this movie! I thought it was an original idea for a movie, the convention at the start of the movie is so funny, Quellek is hilarious, all the actors are fun and I was surprised at how amazing the villain looked.
I certainly will revisit this movie every once in a while!
“Never give up, never surrender!” Galaxy Quest is an extraordinary sci-fi comedy that’s smart and funny. The story follows a group of washed up actors from the cult sci-fi television series Galaxy Quest, who are abducted by a race of aliens that have no concept of fiction and see the Galaxy Quest cast as real life heroes. Starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, and Sam Rockwell, the cast is quiet impressive; giving exceptional performances that balance the humor and the action. And the comedy itself especially good and does an excellent job at spoofing the sci-fi genre and its topes; brilliantly satirizes ‘60s science fiction television (such as Star Trek), as well as the culture of fandom. By Grabthar’s Hammer, Galaxy Quest is a hilariously entertaining adventure.
This is a fun movie! It has been a long while since I have seen it and I forgot how great this cast is. Everyone clearly had a good time making this movie, almost in sort of a Spaceballs kind of way. While it is not as satirical as Spaceballs, it hits comparable levels of enjoyability!

What an enjoyable movie! As someone who casually enjoys Star Trek, this had plenty of subtle nods and references, several of which are downright hilarious. Original plots like these makes me wish that all the big movies these days weren't just franchise films and sequels. It's oddly refreshing to watch Galaxy Quest in today's cinematic climate.
The premise behind the movie is actually really fun and interesting. However, as the movie unfolds the movie starts to become less fun and interesting. I don't know what would have saved it - maybe it needed to be more campy or less campy. It's a shame that this cast couldn't have been brought together in a better movie.

I've never seen even a second of Star Trek, but I still found it hilarious how much fun they made of the fanbase. Alan Rickman and Tim Allen were great. A very enjoyable movie :)
This movie is Trekkie gold! Such an awesome cast . Brings to life the spirit of Star Trek. If you liked this parody, and haven’t come across it already, I would recommend watching The Orville.
Live long… and prosper! :vulcan_tone3:
Sigourney Weaver steals the show lol
A witty comedy/science fiction movie with a fine ensemble cast.
Wow! Never knew this movie existed! It’s amazing!
Why did I decide to watch it? I've read good reviews. And because of the cast: I like Weaver and Rickman. I didn't know Rockwell was in it, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Galaxy Quest is one of the best parodies made in the last 2 decades...if not THE best.
Many laugh-out-loud moments and a cast that knows what they are doing, makes Galaxy Quest really watchable even for people that usually don't enjoy sci-fi. The late Alan Rickman and Tim Allen especially.
And oh yeah...Sigourney Weaver's breasts make a good figure too (pun intended).
