In a universe that's seen the super hero genre take great leaps forward with efforts like The Watchmen and The Boys, Freaks feels like Netflix kryptonite.
FYI - I like to catch as many German-language movies and tv shows as I can as I grew up there and miss watching German entertainment.
This movie is essentially a pilot a Heroes-style TV-show. Don't know if they will go that route or not but they certainly could.
German movies and tv shows are paced a bit differently which I understand and love. I know tho that may here in the US don't enjoy that pacing and therefore have issues with watching German shows.

Not bad so far but I’m seriously questioning the logic behind “STOP TAKING YOUR PILLS they just sedate you, wake up to who you really are!” and then consequently “we need to stay hidden and not use our powers or they lock us up”… coming from the same person.
Shame, SHAME that something is rotated.
Not even because of the now exhausted story that has now felt like it has been filmed 1000 times by Marvel, DC and Co., but rather the way it was shot.
The German film has made itself so strong in the last 10 years (e.g. Viktoria, oh boy, Der Untergang, Dark) and then something like that.
Bad acting performance (also or especially by Wotan Wilke Möhring), a predictable plot, wooden dialogues and then extremely bad CGI effects that were sometimes only hinted at.
If I'm making a superhero film then the "forces" should also be well represented.
Netflix probably thought what is written by the "Dark-Maklers" can only be good ... A huge grab in the toilet
Definitely not a good movie.
Acting is acceptable for a german movie, but the character development is ridiculous and it tries too much for 93 minutes runtime.
While it has interesting concepts, the writing is subpar and it brings nothing new to the genre.
This was much better than I expected. It would be great to have this turn into a series too.
This should be a tv show and not a movie. Too short to flesh out the characters but the story was decent.
Enjoyable take on the superhero genre, but one character's sudden transition into a villain marred it a little.

This feels like an 1:30min pilot episode which started as an episode then tried to find a conclusion mid way in when a series contract rug was pulled under it. I really enjoy the girl and her family. I would say the first half is the strongest and the second half just got completely lost with itself. I hope they spin it into a series and do it justice.
