Well, gosh darn if that little girl wasn't the cutest, most precocious thing ever! I do wish they would've dialed it back a bit with the whole grown-up little girl, though, it made her kind of cartoonish at times.
But as formulaic and cliched as this movie is, it's still really well acted and pretty enjoyable. Much better than the last few Nicholas Sparks movies that have come out, that's for sure.
Yes, it was a sappy romance. Yes, the kid acted very not kid like. Yes, everyone was outrageously good looking. Sure, it was a romantic comedy without a lick of comedy. I still liked it. 7/10
Synopsis: Josie couldn't be more excited; she is about to marry her sweetheart, Liam Page! Unfortunately, her joy turns to sorrow as Liam stands her up at the wedding. Several years later, Liam is living it up as a country singer...but has had enough of that life, and ventures back home to see his old flame. To his surprise, he discovers that he has a daughter, and a rather precocious one at that! Josie is hesitant about allowing Liam back into her life after what he did. Is he truly repentant? Will he and Josie reconcile their differences?
The Good: As a whole, I enjoyed this movie; it was cute for what it was, especially Billy, Liam's precocious daughter. Sure, it's predictable, but it's well-made, and it has the sweetness of a Hallmark telefilm, which you rarely see in theatrically released flicks, even Christian ones.
The Bad: Some may find this to be a bit edgy, both for a Christian film and a "PG". For Liam to have a daughter with a woman he didn't marry, as well as to have another lady in his hotel room after a concert, implies things that you may not want to explain to your youngster. Teens and adults will understand, but, I wouldn't want to answer a five-year-old's questions about that. Also, this film doesn't feel all that Christian, even minus the aforementioned content; sure, some of it takes place in a church, but that's mostly wedding and funeral scenes.
Conclusion: Overall, this was sweet and touching for what it was. You'll see the ending coming a mile away, but, that's part of the fun of movies like this. It's one of the better Christian movies I've seen recently, despite its flaws.
This movie was as cliché and sappy as I expected it to be, and that's great because that's exactly what I wanted. Sometimes you just gotta kick back and watch something with a very predictable happy ending to cleanse the soul.
Also, Abby Ryder Fortson is the best thing about this. That kid is going places.
Tough one to rate. It’s so simple made. But that also means there is nothing annoying in it. I can only assume the book has waaay more depth to offer.
Abby Ryder steals the show again (like she does in every film she is in!) However, this film was a typical sweet, romantic movie, but I actually really enjoyed it.
good movie the kid was alittle over the top though like she had adhd at times and was abit overbearing she made her parents look shy and reserved
I wasn't 100% sure about it when I watched the trailer, but I liked it. The storyline is very cheesy and cliche, but that's how I like my romantic movies. I did feel like the romance got a bit "lost" between the father-daughter reunion. Abby Ryder Fortson is such a cute kid but as Billy, she was a bit much. Sometimes so much that all you really remember at the end are her parts. So I would've liked it if they made the other actors stand out a bit more.
It's nothing special but it is a fun/romantic/feel good watch. If you're into the romantic and a bit cliche movies, I would reallt recommend this.

Just a good ole romantic drama (with a little country music thrown in for good measure). I've discovered these are a rare find these days. Romantic comedies or dramas are so cookie cutter and trite, but this one has some soul, maybe because it is a treatment on a novel. Good acting, predictable but touching story. I give this film a 7 (good) out of 10. (Romantic Drama)
