Flyboys 2006

Typical movie of its kind. Easy watch for the action, drama and lovestory. Cgi a bit on low budget but ok.

Nothing special. A couple scenes are noteworthy, but the main thing that is an important takeaway is it is based on a true story and real people. The CGI could've been better. The acting in some, it not a lot of the scenes could've been better. Something just seemed cheap about it compared to the men the film supposedly is honoring. Just falls short of what it could be.

One of the most noteworthy scenes with the crash in no man's land was not really as great as it could've been. Almost like they wanted to tell this story, but just couldn't do the background research to get it right.

5.7/10. Great for a rainy day, or to watch in tribute to the original American flyers in WWI that are rarely, if ever, talked about.

Not much I can say about it, but it has quite a number of memorable moments. James Franco is wonderful as always, in any movie he's in. The cast are all first-rate and deliver pretty good performances. The things that bring the movie down for me, are the sometimes terrible visual effects, and the cliche'd elements of the story. It's definitely not very original at times, in terms of presentation, which is interesting, considering it's based on a true story. But there are some visually unique and clever moments that make this an above average period piece.

A stereotypical but well-made war film, Flyboys tells a thrilling tale of daring high-flying adventure. Inspired by real events, the story follows a group of recruits who join the Lafayette Escadrile, a core of voluntary American fighter pilots who serviced in the French Air Service during World War I. The special effects are fairly good, though the CGI is noticeable at times. However, the directing does a great job at capturing the energy and excitement of aerial combat. But the story's weak and is full of clichés, and the acting's not much better. Yet despite its shortcomings, Flyboys is an entertaining action film about a fascinating chapter of World War I history.
