Flight of the Navigator 1986

This is still one of the coolest, most original spacecrafts in all of science fiction.

scared the shit out of me when i was a kid… i thought this was gonna happen to me and my little sister being older than me is like my worst nightmare…

It's pretty charming, and kind of heavy when dealing with the consequences of a kid being missing for eight years (then suddenly returning). It really drags in the last act, though. It ends up being this pseudo chase scene where he's being slowly tagged by NASA while an alien robot mimics the kid's personality? And there are weird-but-also-cool alien puppets on board this chrome ship? It gets really weird in the last act.

I might have enjoyed this more as a kid, but it's not too shabby, especially for its time.

This is one of the very first movies I saw as a kid, and I’m so glad it was. This is a cult classic that helped rocket me into my fascination with anything and everything sci-fi. It was imaginative and well written; and a common movie I recommend to younger generations that have a true interest in fun, imaginative sci-fi, that can set aside its age, and appreciate it for what it was and still is for us who grew up in the 80s and had the pleasure of experiencing this movie when it first came out.

Just watched this with my dad for the first time ever, he hadn’t seen it since he was a kid. It’s definitely the 80s that’s for sure :joy:

Another EPIC children's movie. The CGI holds up pretty darn good for how old the movie is. The ship and creature design is excellent and for the most part the story works except for the 80s montage which moves the plot well, doesn't take up too much time but logically stretches the bounces of the imagination. Paul Reubens aka Pee-Wee Herman was a perfect choice for a wacky space ship in the 80s. He bloody nailed it.

The soundtrack alone brings me back!

The grail sought by characters in the 20th century

The movie was surprisingly great up until the point where the ship copies that boys head and started to be the most insufferable thing for 45 minutes...

Fun movie, good music (gotta love Grease music when that movie has the same director) and a soundtrack by Alan Silvestri. I really liked the story and I'll definitely watch this one again.

Enjoyable enough.

'Flight of the Navigator' features an interesting concept which they bring to life rather well. It isn't anything special and it could've probably been more thrilling, but it still produces a fine 90 minutes. The special effects haven't aged amazing, yet they still suitably serve the intended purpose.

Joey Cramer is good in the lead role as David, while Paul Reubens is fairly amusing as Max. A young Sarah Jessica Parker (Carolyn) also appears. The film doesn't quite hit the intended heartfelt spots with the plot, but there is an element of care for David from me in there minorly; if only at the end.

Decent Disney.

This is one of my favorite movies from the 80’s. It is Back to the Future meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
I am glad the rumored remake never happened, not yet anyway. This movie isn’t too outdated despite aliens that look like finger puppets.

Just watched it for the first time in almost two decades and I thought there would be more adventures in the ship than there really is.

next to E.T. one of my favorite classic sci-fi movies...
