First Kill 2017

Average movie where nothing really stands out with a way too foreseeable plot. OK for a quick watch.

Well...this isn't the worst Miller-Willis collaboration (their third) , but it's barely a good thriller. A passable time-killer, nothing more and nothing less.

Bruce whhhyyyy. Also, kinda disappointed that the ending didn't show the kid standing up to his bully. Missed opportunity, man.

Good enough.

I felt satisfied after watching 'First Kill'. Sure it isn't anything extremely memorable or overly creative/unique, but I came away feeling positive about it. It gave me what I wanted from a straight-to-video action film.

Hayden Christensen is enjoyable in the lead role, and even Bruce Willis seemed to be trying at least; unlike, in my view anyway, in 2016's 'Precious Cargo'. Gethin Anthony, of 'Game of Thrones' fame, is good too - he features in the best scene of the film with child actor Ty Shelton.

The plot is nothing close to being anything fresh, but it's suitable and it held my interest all the way through... I can't really ask for more. 7*.

It's generic in every sense of the word.

Nothing more offensive than a action movie being dull. Well, at least Hayden Christensen isn't awful and gives a decent performance. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about Bruce Willis, who's after that pay check again.

A mediocre thriller, First Kill has a bit of intrigue but not much of a story. When Will Beeman takes his son on a hunting trip they accidentally witness a falling out between two bank robbers, one of whom then kidnaps Will’s son in order to force him to retrieve the stolen money for him. Hayden Christensen and Bruce Willis lead the cast and give solid performances. However the plot is pretty formulaic and uses a lot of standard clichés; dirty cops, a criminal with a heart of gold, etc. And the directing is rather perfunctory, and does nothing to heighten the dramatic tension or action sequences. First Kill is a stereotypical abduction film that’s by-the-numbers.

The twists so predictable they can't be called twists and the deafening volume of WTFs made this film worse than ridiculous. It was ridiculous-er.
