Quite interesting fable, very moving in many aspects!
More folk tale than horror, this enthralling fable will (despite the hellish imagery) provoke more smiles than nightmares.
The creature design for the demons and Satan were really great.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. A great movie with a great story. It's moving, funny, and terrifying in the way fables often can be.
I pushing it giving a 7, but it was unusual and something different for a change.
I certainly wasn't expecting a folk tale with elements of humor. I also was surprised by how good the movie looks despite what I'm assuming was a small budget and the fact that Netflix films are normally underwhelming.
The trailer for this looked as if it was going to be a dark, brooding battle on the precipice of Hell. It has quite a terrifying depiction of Hell, but the relationship between the tough-as-nails blacksmith and a little girl named Usue conquers the inferno that initially draws them both in.
The costumes of the demons, especially Satael and Alastor, are impressive. The dank, armored fortress of the blacksmith is quite a creation, too.
If you don't like subtitles you will need to get over it as this film is in Basque, which is a pretty amazing sounding language.
