[FF Gent] A histrionic biopic that paints a portrait of Fassbinder focusing on his sleaze, grumpiness and despotism. The theatrical staging is interesting, the sets give a dreamlike aspect, and fit with the director's iconography. But Oskar Roehler seems more interested in the deconstruction of the character, offering a partial and inconclusive view about his relevance as an artist. An imperfect and incomplete portrait, but with a superb performance by Oliver Masucci.
