Doctor Detroit 1983

This movie is over before you know it or it gets a chance to be funny, actually. This is part of an unofficial trilogy of 80's "the wrong pimp" movies: Risky Business and Night Shift being the other two. Frankly, this is the least of those three, but a nice cheesy SNL alumni outing with good performances from all involved...even if the material they were given wasn't fantastic. Free with commercials on Peacock right now.

I saw this movie when it was released in the theaters, I expected more then due to Dan Aykroyd’s popularity and found it kind of silly but still somewhat funny. Today almost 30+ years later it is still silly, but it is damn funny. It’s classic, sexy, and full of one liners, I’ll never forget the “rip your head off” line. Kick back and prepare for some funny stuff. I even forgot the late great James Brown was in it. In fact this movie must of been instrumental in creating the future of the Blues Brothers and Dan even married the beautiful Donna Dixon.

Oof this is painfully unfunny.

Mom really could've been a better actress chosen. Otherwise, great comedy with a full range of Dan Aykroyd characters on hand.

I remember going to the theater to see this movie. It was in the middle of winter on a cold day. The curtains went up, the frist thing I hear was "DEVO" playing the theme song. It was a ride and half throughout the movie. Sure, it was a bit corny, but what movie isn't. The storyline was very good and lots and lots of good acting, even though they could have picked a better "MOM" as an actor, but all in all, it was a pretty good movie. This movie has become one of the top 100 movies in our family library and I enjoy watching it once or twice every two to three years. Another movie that we enjoy is "The Coneheads" that also has a strong family plot that overcomes the bumps in life. Recommended... and then enjoy.
