Love the villain, he brings awesome music :P
Another brilliant instalment for this franchise. Just as funny as the first two, great music too.
Unfortunately that movie was very disappointing even though I did not had any expectations at all after the "Minions" movie disaster. I loved the first two movies but that movie actually bored myself. Way too many side stories, a lack of funny minions side kicks, etc.
This is a disappointing end to what started as a great franchise. Loved the first movie, the second was pretty good, but this one just wasn't very good at all. Too many random side stories, not enough action, and the villain was lame. That being said, my kids loved it. And while I get that it is aimed more for them, the first two were fun for the whole family and this one was lacking in that regard.
On the phone:
Hollywood Exec: Oh, hi Steve, we are doing another Despicable Me, and as you're contractually obliged to voice Gru we expect to see you on Monday
Steve: The thing is...well.. isn't this franchise getting stale now?
Exec: Probably, who cares, the kids wanna see it so we are doing it. See you Monday.
Steve: Not sure I can do this one...
Exec: As I said - contract - obliged - you have no choice, sorry. But look at the bright side, be thankful you aren't voicing an Emoji.
Steve: Hmm..
Exec: Monday! See you then. Think of the money. (hangs up)
Steve: Sigh. At least it's not Dinner for Schmucks 2. (cries into his soup)
Stale, pointless sequel. I feel sorry for Steve.
With stunning animation and stellar voice-over work, despicable me 3 is a worthy entry for this franchise. The story is full of heart, has a compelling villain and provides great laughs.
Ohhh yayyyyy they made another one, so I can hear minions on repeat in the kids room for the next 6 months
Not mind blowing how good it is. But the movie is still cute and fun. The Minions are funny but the directors are running out of ideas on how to use them.
While the villain obsessed with the 80’s can be pretty annoying.
I want to start this review off by saying how impressed I am, every time I watch a Despicable Me/Minions movie, with the creativity that goes into the story and animations. I love that there are even jokes going on in the background. With these movies, the sky is the limit, and it shows. They come up with the most hilarious and creative things to make to storyline more fun. I really appreciate that in a movie. Having said that, I must be honest and say that this movie in not my favorite one in the franchise. It was more action filled and their target group is a bit older for this movie then it was for the ones before. Resolving into sometimes maybe a bit too cruel jokes. (for example, in the beginning, the minions come by in a submarine of some sort but by doing so killing a fish. Doesn't sound that cruel or anything, I know, but you have to see it first, lol)
I love the minions, so if you ask me they could have had a bigger part in this movie. They make me laugh like a mad woman, to be honest #noshame. I loved the storyline where Lucy "learned" to be a mom and bonded with the three kids. Talking about the kids, Agnes, I can't, she is the cutest, seriously.
It's a fun movie that you for sure should watch if you enjoyed the other Despicable Me's, I laughed and I enjoyed it, but in my opinion, it doesn't top the previous once.
Good new characters but weak plot.
A no-frills third installment of 'Despicable Me'.
I found the initial few scenes of 'Despicable Me 3' to be solid, with a few chuckles chucked in there. However, from around minute 30 it loses all steam and ends up being a fine but uninspiring 90 minutes. The voice cast are alright, but the characters themselves aren't all that interesting.
Steve Carell and Trey Parker are good, as is an underused Kristen Wiig. Jenny Slate's character seems forgotten, like I feel like it sets up something with Valerie Da Vinci early on but I don't even recall what happens to her here - a waste, as my first impressions were positive. The minions are fine, not as funny at this point but there's some minor amusement there still. I, also, didn't dig the addition of Gru's brother, fwiw.
Pharrell Williams' music, meanwhile, feels overused and ever so slightly rehashed. Gone are the days of 'Happy' - but hey! Only two years until 'Despicable Me 4'! Woo...
Trey Parker was the highlight, everything else was horrid.
The music, the story, the animation, everything is as it should be again. Fun for young and old. I can't get enough of these movies.
“I’ve been a bad boy.” Gru faces his most challenging nemesis yet in Despicable Me 3, a rather mediocre family comedy. After failing to capture ‘80s child-star turned super-villain Balthazar Bratt during a daring jewel heist Gru is fired from the AVL (Anti-Villain League) and soon discovers that he has a long lost twin brother; who he then recruits to help him exact his revenge on Bratt. Trey Parker joins the cast and does a great job at making Bratt a fun, over-the-top villain. However, the plot is incredible formulaic and cliché, hitting all the lost sibling and spy redemption tropes in the book. And the comedy is fairly broad and tries to get by mostly on slapstick (which it kind of does). Despicable Me 3 delivers some laughs, but it’s an underwhelming sequel that doesn’t really do anything new or interesting with the series.
Gru, his family and the minions are back to make a new friend and confront a new foil. This time, the opposition is former child star Balthazar Bratt, stranded deep in the 1980s, who takes out frustrations about an ancient sitcom cancellation on jewel owners and Hollywood big-spenders alike. Played with energy by Trey Parker and swathed in a dense cloak of pop culture references, Bratt brings a fresh new dynamic to the franchise that gives this third installment just enough of a boost to feel necessary. Most of those cultural winks were completely lost on my kids, of course, but they still appreciated his silly wardrobe, fly dance-fighting moves and crafty arsenal of unlikely weapons.
There's a side story with Gru's forgotten twin brother Dru (both played by Steve Carell, of course), and a sweet arc that finds Kristin Wiig's special agent Lucy seeking a relationship with the reformed villain's three girls, but those feel like slight retreads and don't have the new criminal's panache. Clearly, Illumination was having a good time with Bratt, while the other plot threads were more like obligations.
It's fun, with some great bits of physical comedy and a necessary return to the heartstring-plucking of the first film, though overall it lands in somewhat shallow waters. An improvement over the underachieving Despicable Me 2, if not quite up to the original's snuff.
i love this saga and anything with minions on it.
I was just going to say soon, I'll be 100 percent. I lost a few of my addons for kodi over some law suit. Sorry. I'm trying
I have enjoyed this franchise since the beginning, but was a bit skeptical about a third film. The film was great and had a fantastic 80s soundtrack that drove the film well. A film for the whole family, including the parents, with a stellar story. The fleshing out of the villain and Gru's family was a really nice addition to the overall story.
The weakest of the trilogy. The gimmick is clearly starting to wear thin. It's still entertaining enough to keep you engaged and I'm sure the kids will love it anyway. The new villain is a cheap grasp at 80s references, but he's a lot of fun regardless.
Agnes is just the cutest!!!
its fun to see even if am agrown up yet i had a blast
It's the fourth movie in the franchise and it's got to a point where they are just making them to bring in money from little kids parents. While it's good to hear the voices of Steve Carell and other cast members, it's just pointless and annoying. There is a reason they don't tell you a lot about the storyline. But kids love to watch "Gru" make stupid jokes so you can see they're even leading up to another installment.
Overall, a decently funny movie ruined by a bad storyline and merchandise.
Fooled me once, despicable you. Fooled me three times, Despicable Me.
A good movie, not quite as good as the first 2 but better than Minions spinoff. Tray Parker stole the show with his Balthazar Bratt villain. I loved the sub plot of Agnes' search for a Unicorn. The Minions we great in the prison scenes, but were poorly used in the rest of the film.
Crazy! Did not realise there was going to be another one, looking forward to it!

Any movie with 80s music and a cheese festival is ok in my book.
